Apparently in May VCX plans to re-release the original The Devil in Miss Jones with a new master and footage that was missing from the original disc.

This is a great idea. It would be even better if a quality company was doing it...

Isn't Vivid also handling the remake? If it was any other company, I would be fine with it, but I don't know if Vivid could copy the really depressing, but wonderfully handled opening.

I just got the VCX original version, and the print is TERRIBLE! I mean, parts of the begining just kind of flash out. It's weird. I hope it turns out better.

I just saw a Sexcetera piece on the making of this film, and it was shot in August of 2003! What is it with Vivid holding these films for years? Do any other companies make a habit of holding releases THAT long?

Apparently, Jenna does the same thing with Club Jenna projects. She has had Sylvia (Saint) Loves Jenna in the can for over 3 years I think, and I wouldn't doubt if it never gets released since she has been filming so much lately, plus Sylvia Saint no longer works (at least in the US).

She has done a lot of films to be released gradually ala Vivid. In her case, I think the motivation is that she is going to quit as soon as she gets pregnant. This way, she will be able to release new product for many years after she quits. Another one is Kobe Loves Jenna. Vivid released a version of that called Jenna Loves Kobe, which sucked in my opinion. I'm sure Jenna and Jay's version would be much better, but I'm not holding my breath for that one either.

This is indeed good news. I was quite pleased with their remastered edition of Little Girls Blue .

Flash, you correspond with VCX, don't you? I wonder if they might also revisit Through The Looking Glass at some stage. I'd rather know now because I'm planning to get the Video-X-Pix edition shortly.

Beefstrokinoff, you've got the wrong film. This is about the 1972 version of The Devil in Miss Jones. The Vivid remake is talked about here.

SDC, I'll ask and see if they have any plans for it.

Astro, VCX has been improving their quality over the last year. IMHO, They aren't fighting Video-X-Pix and Caballero for last place anymore and are up to the quality that NuTech produced back when they were releasing classic discs.

Flash - that's great to hear! NuTech's classics weren't great, but they were far better than many of the others.

From what I hear, most of the Vivid movies that take so long are Paul Thomas's movies, and they take that long because he's extremely meticulous in editing them.

SDC:
Through the Looking Glass was apparently licensed by VCX through another studio and what they used as a master was cleaned up as much as they could. Until technology improves so they can try and create a better master from it, it sounds like there won't be a re-release of that title.

For those interested I also asked about Girls on Fire, which is a great film but suffers from a horrible master, and that one is scheduled to be redone.

Thanks, Flash. I'll pick up the Video-X-Pix edition as soon as Five Star get it in and report back on the quality.

Not a clue, I thought that their first release was complete as well.
