| rearadmiral All-Star Member 6532 Posts 12/11 | This is a bit of a cross-post so I hope it's okay. On the Alexa Nova thread on the Star Crossed forum a member linked to a lengthy blog post that Alexa had. In it she gives a detailed rundown of the scenes she's done in 2017. Some of the scenes that she mentioned are those that she did for Legal Porno. The fascinating part of the post is when she talks about the economics of Legal Porno. Alexa notes that at the time of her blog one of her scenes (the 5-on-1 scene where she slips a toy football up her ass - an amazing scene BTW) there were approximately 189,000 views. Alexa says that for it to count as a view that it has to be purchased. My membership is in Canadian dollars so if we take a rough price of $5 USD for the scene and it has had 189,000 people buy it (it's up to 191,000 now) then that's a revenue of almost $1 million USD on one scene. My first thought is that Alexa can't be right on how views are counted and that if someone goes on, views the trailer and leaves that this is still counted as a view. I tried confirming this but I can't. I just went to LP and selected the new Katrin Tequila scene. It was showing 35,860 views. I refreshed the screen and it was showing the same number. I used my iPad and nothing changed. It's possible that since I'm a regular LP customer that my IP address is being tracked so it doesn't count as multiple views. But then I bought and downloaded the scene and the number of views still didn't change. Maybe the counter isn't immediate but that makes no sense either. So is it possible that Alexa is right and that each 'view' at LP is a purchase that generates $5 USD of revenue? If so, I can't imagine that I'm alone in being blown away by LP's economics. I don't doubt that sites are being truthful when they say that pirate sites have completely changed the economics of the industry but if this is right then some sites are still doing well. But then LP serves a unique niche and seems to combat privacy more than other sites. I do also recall reading a post from Pierre Woodman a while back where he said that he has - I don't remember the number but it was somewhere around 40,000 - monthly subscribers. Even if those are spread over Woodman Casting X and Wake Up 'n Fuck that's a lot of revenue. So would that one Alexa Nova scene really generate $1 million in revenue? If so, fuck it, I'm going into the porn business. Here's a link to the blog: https://steemit.com/life/@alexanova/diary-of-a-pornstar-i-m-back-recap-of-my-2017-so-far [Link] |

| rhodium Member A cracked polystyrene man 183 Posts 6/11 | To make a comparison, they put out a 10 on 1 w/ Casey Calvert and it's gotten over 220,000 views in a just the last month. Even if we assume your math is off by a factor of 10, it's still over $100,000 in revenue. I would ballpark the production costs for the scene at less than $30,000 altogether, and you're still looking at huge margins. On the flipside, Zero Tolerance is putting out their own gangbang, Casey Calvert: No Limits. It's being released tomorrow, and there's still no trailer, one tweet to promote it a month ago, and won't be available on their website to download for maybe a couple months. The director, Mike Quasar, lives by the hastag #pornisfree to justify how he and the porn industry have been so victimized by piracy. On one hand you've got yacht money and the other you're destitute. LP adapted to the market, makes it simple for its customers (by being as easy and potentially better than piracy - no download, permanent personal cloud library), and by having an excellent way to track and target their profitability, they're giving their customers exactly what they want. I pay for my porn and my HBO too. But if Game of Thrones was released only on DVD and I had to wait even an extra week to stream it, fuck them too. Capitalism is about survival of the fittest. Innovate or die. Excuses don't make money. Thank you! |
| pat362 Senior Member 10083 Posts 3/10 | July 18 has 3 videos with a total viewing of 12298 x 5$ = 61,490$ July 17 has 2 videos with a total viewing of 71524 x 5$ = 357,620$ July 16 has 2 videos with a total viewing of 106686 x 5$ = 533,430$ July 15 has 3 videos with a total viewing of 199629 x 5$ = 998,145$ July 14 has 3 videos with a total viewing of 227321 x 5$ = 1,136,605$ July 13 has 2 videos with a total viewing of 151340 x 5$ = 756,700$ July 12 has 3 videos with a total viewing of 198546 x 5$ = 992,730$ If my math is accurate than LP made nearly 5 millions dollars with just 18 videos in one week and that number I sure to rise in the days to come as more people watch them. I can't be the only one who thinks those kind of profits make no sense. If they are then we can argue that LP is a 260 millions dollar a year or more porn studio. P.S: Not to derail the thread too much but did anyone catch the bomb Alexa dropped regarding unsafe or even dangerous anal practices at LP? This is not anything we haven`t heard before but I suspect many people thought that they had stopped doing it. Now we know they haven't. In case you didn't read it than Alexa mentioned that Giorgio insisted that she use an anal numbing agent. Something she told him she had never needed to use before (we are talking about a woman who has done a couple of anal fisting scenes) but he still insisted. Now on the surface using a numbing agent would seem like a wise decision since she is about to do a long double anal scene but in fact it's terrible idea because the numbing agent will prevent the performer from feeling if there is possible damage about to occur and it will definitely prvent her from knowing if there was. A performer could walk out of an LP shoot get home and only them start to feel in serious pain from tearing and what not. |

| PIERRE WOODMAN Senior Member The Atrax 1490 Posts 8/15 | This company is not here to do money but of course they do even if they have paid performers much better in the years 2012/2014 than today. This company include the name LEGAL only to be the clean visual business of Stephan P. the owner of Xvideos, XNXX and many tubes !!! His money ( arround half million by day ) is generated by the advertisment he sales on Xvideos because he is N°1 porn site of the world ( ranked 16 and pornhub form Mindgeek 21 https://www.similarweb.com/top-websites) So he redirect a part of his montruous traffic 18 to 15 millions people by day to Legal Porno and even if people who likes pirate sites don't really want paid some of them does and it can generate sometime big amount of money on some scenes as mentionned at beginning of this tread. All his production business including DDF that he owns also, are just destinated to make bigger his quantity of videos in stock. Actually there are 14 millions of free videos on Xvideos making almost 2 billions of streaming view by month. Out of the fact there are millions childrens watching porn because of the tubes, it's crazy to think Mindgeek and GTFlix.TV, owns a big part of the internet traffic and can get money from the "clean" structures they build with the money from piracy. That's why the porn business with simple porn producers like me is dying, they are choked one by one are they often prefer to sale their business to them or accept to "collaborate" by giving their content in exchange of small revenues. The future of porn is dark, the piracy kill us but also now the social medias gives girls opportunities to sale themself directly on Snapchat etc ... so to have a guy who paid 30 $ at the end of the month on my site is just a miracle. I will retired in less than 5 years not because I feel too old but because I think porn business today is just a crazy mess where the true spirit of sex is lost ... PW |

| Fishing_addicted Deactivated User 162 Posts 5/17 | 191.000 are the people who watched the trailer. for free she has no idea of what she was talking about. sales are a different story. but their business model is undoubtedly sucesfull. US porn talks shit abut them but the truth is that they are stuck in an old business model. no tickets, no buy a la carte, 90% of the content is B/G vag only scene. they should wake up instead critic LP. Mike quasar can complain all day long but after 20 years in the biz no one here talks about his work, he is so blind that can't see the difference between his work & lansky's work to make an example. Or between him & JulesJordan. He still has no clue on how to shoot a decent gangbang or DP. You know what? fans spend a lot of money in porn, i would love to spend more than i actually do if only i'd find scenes i like. Jonni darkko disappeared from this board because people complained about video quality, which is terrible nowadays, Quasar justifies the lack of sales because of piracy, woodman as well etc and no one listen to the customers. and this is exactly what legalporno does. being in contact with its customers. Peolpe didn't like a certain male performer? they fired him after few scene. end of the story. even if girls say they have great chemistry with him. no one cares. site needs to make $$ people don't wanna watch scene with vaginal penetration? no problem only anal or double anal. 720p resolution is not enough? no problem here is the 1080p and 4k resolution. USA porn is all about bad video quality, lame male talents who constantly get work because chemistry with girls is the first thing, which is not, B/G scene all day long and not to mention scenes edited as hell. damn premiumbukkake request 100 euros a month to be a member and there are lots of fans ( me too ) who spend those $ because of the unique content! is that site supported by xvideos?? not at all. Shot what people like and you'll make money. easy. Edited by - fishing_addicted on 7/18/2017 5:20:46 AM |
| DRHouse82 Member 17 Posts 7/17 | The Porn Industry is making the same Mistakes the Music Industry already did and expect other Results. The customers will pay if: Content you bring uo is Unique and oriented to your Target Group. For a High Value Site That means: - Modern responsive Site Layout - Several Billing options (Per clip, week, month) - Download Options - Above Average Look of the Video - above Averag Sound of the Video Most Immportant: - Mouth Watering Trailers - The possibility to give Feedback in fast Way (Ratings, Comment Function) - Forum is not a Fast way Just Arguing about the whole Piracy brings nothing because People who are Watching Streams dont want to pay. You have to MAKE them pay. Just Producing Content is not Enough anymore. Thats the Problem, the Time of VHS and DVD is over. Yeah the time was great, but it was also the time the Consumers had to take what you give them, "eat or die!" Today you get a 100% feedback if your Content is worth the Money, i was member of lots of sites. I even was on your Site Pierre because i saw the Misha Cross Scene on a Streaming site and thought...Wow great scene. Maybe i have to Join the Site. And then is saw Site wich was from the Past, the Payment Options were Limited AND then i couldnt see what i get. Trailers that Showing Girls that are Talking... i like the casting Part but Jesus Chrst a 60 Second Trailer with a girl Talking just to the Camera is not that Boner Material that makes me join a Site. You are now making a niche Site, so your Amount of Costumers is also more Niche. I was also Member of Legal Porno, and to your surprise i wasnt redireted by a Streaming Site, the Site was mentioned HERE, right here by possible and actual Customers. Talking about the Content and the Hot Girls doin nasty Stuff. Thats what its all about. Stay at the Pulse of your Customers. If scenes have sound/ video problems and a customer reports it they immediately fix it or re-encode the scene. And i've seen them refunding tickets when they make mistakes. Evilangels site released a ton of mike adriano scenes that are unwatchable. not smooth, flat colors, grainy, visually depressing, people report it on their board, on their twitter, on mike adriano's twitter and nothing happened. they do not give a fuck. i have been ripped off so many times by US sites and no one cares. directors on this board told us a shitload of lies to make more subcriptions ( maestro claudio & pervcity, mrstrokes site etc ) and they alway get away like nothing happened. are you serious? no to mention being billed for more than one site after making a single subscription. if legalporno is owned by a pirate... well USA pornsites are way more shady. i basically don't trust anyone anymore. imho Jules Jordan is the only trustworty director. end of my rant. sorry [xx)] |
| roost Member 56 Posts 7/15 | They don't innovate, they don't differentiate, and they blame their problems on piracy constantly. Yes, just like the music industry a few years back. The same can't be said for a lot of the talent these days who are striking out on their own and taking advantage of all the new tools out there to reach their audience directly - and good luck to them! One example named above is premiumbukkake - a niche site perhaps, but targeting that niche full-on with top quality content that can't be found elsewhere. Conversely, did you know American Bukkake is back? No? I don't blame you. There is no where online to watch the scenes filmed, you have to buy the dvd. And look, I know this is 'adultDVDtalk' but we all know that DVDs are a thing of the past. Edited by - roost on 7/18/2017 8:53:13 AM |

| DRHouse82 Member 17 Posts 7/17 | Its a Difference between admire a (maybe) illegal business model or pointing the Finger why they are sucessfull and others just complaining. Napsters Kills the Music Industrie - didnt happen - streaming just kills resellers Amazon/e-books kills Book Authors/ publishing company -partial, Companys got a smaller cut, Authors keep earning even more Authors earn Money Content Creators will always make their Cut, if their Product is competitive and their Marketing good. Problem in Porn is that their are only 2 Kind of Content Creators -Small Creators/Amateurs with low Costs in Production, extreme Focused on their target Group -middle to Big Creators with lots of Cost. These Kind of Creators often get killed by their runnin Cost without Expaning fast Enough. Reasons are often Bad Marketing or a Bad Product or Both. Bad Product means not specific, unique and Edgi. But i think the whole Discussion was not about that, it was about the Amount of Money they make out of a single Scene. Edited by - DRHouse82 on 7/18/2017 11:37:27 AM |

And the only thing he does is blaming piracy. he never tries to add a new angle or a new position in his scenes. never. a couch, a tripod, cowgirl reverse cowgirl end. damn Piracy! Can you bet the upcoming casey calvert gangbang will be this way? lol Porn changed a lot and he still thinks that just because he turns on the camera people will buy his stuff. i don't see Jules saying that on his twitter or thread. i don't see mike adriano or Lansky or Mason complaining about piracy. they just work hard and try their best to please their fans. Several years ago I read a book on how the music industry reacted to an obvious consumer desire to have music in ways other than tapes or CDs bought from a store. The premise was that the music industry couldn't understand that someone might actually want a different business model that worked for them and that anyone who wanted the music digitally off of a website only wanted to steal it. Then Steve Jobs gets big enough to strong-arm the industry into online sales over iTunes. I can't speak for anyone else, but even though I'm not a huge Apple fan I buy a lot of music from iTunes every year. The selection is better than any record store I've ever been in and best of all is I don't have to even go into a store. Yes, I realize that this model may not work for porn, but my point is that just like roost wrote, the porn industry needs to innovate and find a way to bring the product to the consumer in a way that the consumer wants. But... I realize that there are a couple of flaws in my reasoning above. I think things are different when it comes to buying music because music is something that you'll listen to over and over and tell friends about. Pirated porn is more like watched alone in two-minute bursts. Also, I suspect most people who have an ADT membership and post here regularly are active porn buyers and who recognize the value in paying for our porn: if the porn industry makes money then the porn industry can make more porn. My second point is that your use of the example of Premium Bukkake is right on the target. I've been praying for a good bukkake site for years and when PB came along I joined it even at the high price (and made even higher with the Canadian dollar exchange). Do I regret that purchase? Not at all. It was expensive but offered good value because the product is high quality and unique. For me, LP makes porn I want to see and I'm willing to pay for that. Likewise, I'm a big fan of Pierre Woodman and am a regular member there too. But as someone else wrote, Pierre really needs to put up better trailers! |
| PIERRE WOODMAN Senior Member The Atrax 1490 Posts 8/15 | I do it for WakeUpNFuck series ( WUNF ) and that's all. I have already problem to set up the production and editing, don't ask me too much please. And to be honest I don't really like the idea of the trailer and I think often it's the best way to miss the sales. I prefer keep the surprise "on" !!! PW |
| A_Fan Deactivated User 1187 Posts 9/16 | Their ticket model works for them. .I get so tempted by scene after scene that it is hard to be selective and I end up spending 60 to 80 bucks a month just on LP. |

The acts are the content it's the offer on sale , the business model has nothing to do with it , I also stated that I'm not interested in such extreme acts I wouldn't buy anything with any business model from them. Of course I have nothing against those who do. Also happened to see a couple pictures of Angel Smalls performing an IR DAP for them , I have to admit I'm curious |
| pat362 Senior Member 10083 Posts 3/10 | LP has certainly not invented a new way to shoot porn. They simply have huge amounts of money to pay performers to do extreme sex acts. |

| LCF All-Star Member Non Prevalebunt! 10364 Posts 1/05 | I can't say I disagree , but I think it merely works better for extreme and niche porn , the kind of stuff you can't find anywhere else , but sites like AEBN , or sell per scene , it's the very same business model ,clips4sale also sells per scene at a proce even higher than that claimed for LP and it works , the problem is that even though the demand is high the offer is also very high, the margins is less. If everybody does extreme stuff the margin for LP will go down accordingly. Today LP customers just seek out extreme acts, if the offer raises then the customers will differentiate their purchases much like vanilla porn, having a choice they will go to those actress they like the most, the body tipe they like the most, the kind of racial diversity they like the most , going to slim , curvy, plumper , blondes , latino , fat assed , IR exclusively and so on and new partecipants will begun to fill such differtiate demand . As of today their choice is limited to LP nobody else does their stuff Unless for business model is intended in supporting piracy |

I don't compare the business model of AEBN and Hot Movies to any other sites because they are primarily streaming only sites. They do sell individual scenes but I think most of their members use the streaming only option. After all the bulk of their content is still primarily from film studios so unless it's a movie that can't be found anywhere else than most will join the site who produced the movie and download there. In recent years the guys at Hot Movies ands AEBN have had to look for other source of content because the studios that used to exist are now dead or have slowed production so it's now quite common to see internet only content on these sites and it's also quite common to clips4sale stuff as well. That last one is probably a better fit because you can buy streaming for life options that are significantly cheaper than if you bought the scene at clips4sale or on the streaming site. |

People who love double anal porn are pretty fanatical about it (me included). They found a niche that has fanatical dedicated fans willing to pay to get it, and voila! I think part of the reason DAP fans are so dedicated it is a near unicorn thing to find in your personal life, so it makes it more exciting to see it in porn. I finally found a girl willing to do DAP (thanks to showing her a lot of LP scenes), but that is the first girl I have met who would do this and I am in my 40s. Its a rare thing in the personal life so it is more exciting to see in porn. Just one theory as to why we DAP fans are fanatics about it. Edited by - A_Fan on 7/19/2017 4:43:36 PM |

| A_Fan Deactivated User 1187 Posts 9/16 | I have to pick and chose unfortunately. For two reasons. One, I could end up spending 300+ dollars a month if I saw everything I wanted and that is just excessive for one site. Secondly, I just wouldn't have the time to keep up. Like most I have a career and social life and maybe have time for a handful of scenes a week from all my sites (i switch around with memberships on places like hardx and jules jordan and keep an active brazzers one). So I might get a dozen LP scenes in a month and even then I fall behind in the viewing. Its like any fan of a performer, if you like one, you will keep buying her stuff. I dont have a deep need to see someone I have never seen before. If someone pops up I want to check out, I will . But I am happy to see the same girls over and over if I enjoy what they do. If they stopped filming DAP, yes i would not be spending money there anymore. Thats why I go there. If I want Dps and BG anal scenes, vaginal scenes, etc.. I use my membership on other sites. If HardX (which I love) put out more Double Anal they would get more of my time :) Edited by - A_Fan on 7/21/2017 2:26:34 AM |
| stb155 Member 6 Posts 7/17 | For me it is not only the extreme/rare content. Also their quality is unique* (4k 50fps@33Mbit) and looks miles better than most if not all other sites currently. That's why i often also buy their less extreme scenes if i like the model. I love some of their extreme scenes, but i'm not the bigest fan of DAP/TAP, especially the DAP only/100% Anal scenes i usually avoid. Nothing wrong with some DAP, but DAP "circus" alone is not enough to make a good secene for me, i want to see some proper balls deep fucking (VAG/ANAL/DP) also. I could (and still do sometimes) also get more mainstram stuff from sites like hardX or EA. But honestly, their video quality is not acceptable for me in 2017 where 4k TV's and 100Mbit internet connections are standard (And YT offer eye watering 4k for free). So it is only: wait for discount, grab what i can get, gtfo, repeat next year. Not spending big bucks on 6Mbit/23fps wannabe 1080p. What i like about the LP concept is that i can directly vote with my wallet without leaving completely. |

| slacker2002 Member 725 Posts 6/06 | The ability to buy the one scene with the one performer that I am seeking, and download it immediately appeals to me greatly. I frequently browse IAFD looking for older scenes that I can download. I think the rise of other sites such as Manyvids also validates this popularity. And to Pierre Woodman in particular. I am not a member of your site, and have no intention of joining for the reasons that I note above. But you have produced many scenes with many women that I would like to see. If you allow me to easily browse and search your site, view trailers, and buy only the ones that I want, you will get my money. Slacker |
| PIERRE WOODMAN Senior Member The Atrax 1490 Posts 8/15 | _____________________________________________________________________________________________________ I have been one of the first in this industry ( maybe the first ) to allow a system "a la carte " on my site letting you decide to buy video one by one only or been a site member for a period. And the first minute of all video is free ... Anyway today the term " business model" is a non sens considering many people buy you product just to do business with piracy after and all parameters after that are wrong. If you sale house, cars, etc ... you can speak about marketing strategy of course but for us stupid porn producers, nothing is the truth after the thieves just want dance on the death body of all of us ... Even Jackie et Michel in France have tried to fuck them all by giving the 20 first minutes of their productions for free. So yes now they are the most popular in my country where EVERYBODY know them but today they try make people paid for their products but no one want of course. I just wish one day all gouvernment do something against P2P and will oblige internauts to use a credit card to access anything with porn inside. From this minute the tubes will cry a bit ... PW |

If LP didn't have the cushion of their illegal streaming ad revenue I doubt they'd be in business. The idea that their 'extreme' content is big enough of a niche to be profitable even in today's internet desert may or may not true but I'd point out that at it peak gonzo the industry produced far more DPs and gangbangs than LP currently does. As for earlier reference to Itunes, it is a loss leader. Jobs created it to sell iPods, iPhones and iMacs not music. Edited by - BlackSix on 8/1/2017 3:01:52 AM |
