I have hundreds, maybe thousands of opinions on porn. I figure that this is a great forum in which to express them. So I'm going to start posting them beginning with this one. Who knows? Maybe people will realize that I'm a porn genius and I'll attract a huge following. Lol.

I'll start with a short one.

Tray's Opinion #1 - THE DEMISE OF THE PORNSTAR

Anyone who views porn on a regular basis know the the era of the pornstar is over. Customers are much more likely to buy, and studios are much more likely to promote, vids that have a particular theme (anal, interracial, gangbangs, etc). No longer are the stars the main attraction. In fact, I've fallen behind and don't really know who the hottest stars are today.

I'm kinda sad about this trend. I miss the days of Ginger Lynn, Ashlyn Gere, Nina Hartley, Tori Welles, etc. The days when the girls had individual styles and had different specialties and/or attributes(For example Nina Hartley was known for her great ass, Little Oral Annie for her deepthroating ability, Leena for her dirty talking). I still love porn. Today most of the girls seem to come from the same cookie-cutter. Who can tell one from the other?

I just wish that the producers would find a way to combine yesterday's star power with today's no holds barred, hardcore sex.

Did I hit the nail on the head? Or do you think that this is the stupidest opinion you've ever heard? Either way, reply. I'd love to know what others are thinking.

I'm not entirely sure its that bad a thing.

Perhaps there are too few big time directors in porn these days, because a lot of the hot young starlets that grace our screens do it regularly for a short period of time, but often repeat the same scene for the same director (Michelle Wild for Kovi is a good example of this, how many times did he have her in similar GGB leather fetish scenes?).

Perhaps too, the porn consumer yearns for new blood in the industry, once you have a good scene of a hot young starlet getting shagged in a manner you find infinately appealing, why would you want to go and get another movie of her?

Perhaps too, that the industry has put all its eggs in a few baskets and the rest of the industry is discarded in the wake of the Jenna Jameson's of the world.

Unfortunately or fortunately, depending upon your opinion, the business is now entirely driven by the potential whim of the consumer. As the attention span of the average American gets shorter, so too does the shelf life of today's talent.
I'm with you though, I long for the days of the porn "star". Particularly Ashlyn Gere. She always was and always will be my all time favorite, however I will try to erase her comeback with Extreme Associates from my mind.
Others I miss from that era - Tiffany Mynx, Kelly O'Dell, Alicia Rio, Erica Boyer, Debi Diamond, Celeste, Deidre Holland and Bianca Trump before she became a full time hooker.
In my opinion, the hottest girl who ever graced a camera was a girl from Budapest by the name of Angelica Bella. She was doing movies when I first got into the business (90/91). I remember her from a video called "Anal Europe #1 :The Fisherman's wife" from Las Vegas Video (R.I.P). Odds are that LeisureTime now owns this footage. If you can find it, you won't be disappointed.

It's funny. I read Tray's opinion, then I scrolled up to discover a banner for "A Tribute to Jenna Jameson."

Yeah, so much flesh so little film...

New talent is always great, and as long as there is a constant stream of girls entering, I don't think Pornstar status will return.

I, personally, can't say I would miss it. Never a big fan of "star status"

I dont think whats going on in porn is a bad thing. So people would rather see a theme or maybe a company than a specific girl. I think that its good. It drives more sales and keeps the price from rising any more than it already has. People dont just say, "ill only buy this girl or that girl" but ill buy every Jules Jordan flick that comes out. It may be hard to tell the difference between each new "teenie" that enters the biz, but we still get a taste of a whole lot more than we used to. I look at the vivid girls (today) and I see exactly the opposite of what I like about porn.

You mean to tell me you actually liked porn at some point? I used to follow the now-defunct Mike Quasarrants site fairly closely, and I don't recall such a sentiment ever being expressed.

Also: Trump?! N****r, please . . .

Angelica Bella! Yes, Mike Quasar, I know exactly who she is. I've had a major crush on Angelica Bella for years. I loved her in The Fisherman's Wife (parts #1 and #2). She's stunningly sexy in #1 (she did a scaldingly hot DP with [I think] Joey Silver and Tom Byron in #1). Angelica has been discussed in various threads here at ADT. If anyone is curious what she looks like, Fannatastic lists some links to the covers of some hardcore magazines that Angelica has appeared in in this thread (I have most of those mags in my collection).

Harri, I don't think you followed it close enough because it's obvious to me that he likes porn, has an eye for beautiful women. Perhaps less so for the tattooed crackhead skank look that's so popular today. It's odd that you never 'got him'
or his sense of humor if indeed you followed him as close as you say.

I'm not at all sure that he will even be reading these threads anymore, and he certainly doesn't need me to defend him, but this kind of thing is uncalled for. ADT exists to foster interaction between us, the consumers, and porn professionals. What anyone thinks about anything is immaterial to me anyway, as long as they make good porn.

I suppose people would be happier if he insisted on gratuitous blowjobs from the female talent, or named his series 'Spunk Slurping Sluts'.

I dont exactly see your problem, I think. Of course acts or certain companies are more important than single girls today, but me, I always have a few girls with their OWN style to fellow: Currently it is Belladonna, (tiny) Gauge, before it was Sylvia Saint, Laura Angel; even before that Bridgette Kerkove, Mila.

Me, I am glad we have no porn superstars staying for ages and ages anymore, but more influx of new faces. But some faces still stick for 1-3 years. At least in my head.

Looking forward for your other opinions...

I don't think the era of the pornstar is over, it just got much shorter. Think about it. A new girl comes in the business and instead of showing up once or twice a month, she saturates the market with 10 - 20 vids at once. No wonder fame is so fleeting. The only way to achieve staying power is to go contract with Vivid or another such company.

Also, I'm diametrically opposed to the idea that porn is just about the act. Yes, I recognize that a lot of members have their fetishes, myself included, but I doubt I'm the only one to whom the woman matters.

Paragraph 1: You're projecting something if you think it's "obvious" that he likes porn. He consistently portrayed himself on his demised site as a guy who left Canada to become a rock star (or some such thing), but ended up in a self-pitying alcoholic haze, shooting porn to pay the mortgage. He has just described himself here as "extremely jaded" and "entirely lacking in consumer perspective." Presumably, this is, to some extent, schtick, but the point is, I don't recall him ever discussing an interest in porn or porn actresses that pre-dated his own professional involvement. Hence my surprise to hear him mention Ashlyn Gere et al .

Paragraph 2: No, he doesn't need you to defend him, because what I said was not, in any way, an attack, or "uncalled for."

Paragraph 3: Complete, utter, non sequitur .

Back to the subject of the thread: Tray, I don't agree with the idea that there are no more "stars." The fact that you have "fallen behind and don't really know who the hottest stars are today" doesn't mean that there aren't any. A few minutes browsing here on ADT will demonstrate to you that there is keen fan interest in many of the currently working actresses. I would agree that "theme" videos have become more prevalent; I think that this is attributable to the fact that many of the performers are now willing to do things for very little money that, in years past, would have been completely out of the question, for any amount of money.

Actually, my schtick was that I was a jaded, self-pitying alcoholic whom, because of marital vows, was unable to attempt frivilous intercourse with any of the assorted starlets who walked before the camera. I think that at least demonstrates my heterosexuality. By the way, the above description is still quite accurate.

It may well be that my perceived sour take on porn is really just a resentment on my part that has built up over many years of watching guys who aren't me ejaculate on hot chicks. As a matter of fact, I'm almost certain that's the case. I've heard the "Donut Shop" analogy used before. i.e, Would you still like donuts if you worked in a donut shop and ate donuts everyday year after year? In my case it's more like I work in a donut shop, I really like donuts, donuts surround me, the sight, the smell, the sprinkles and shiny frosting, everywhere I turn there's a donut but I have this horrible disease whereby if I actually eat a donut, I lose half of everything I own.

Mine is a life none should envy.

Anyway, back to my self pitying alcoholism.
