Does anyone watch and listen to the introductions/interviews of the women before the sex scene?
Those reality-based or gonzo style videos where the camera fades up and the director introduces a girl on the couch. Then the girl talks about herself, where she's from, how old she is, where she used to work, etc.
Does anyone just fast-forward past all that to get to the sex?
For those who watch, what are you interested in hearing? Where she went to school? What are her parents like?
Personally, I just like to hear quick basics: Name, age, where she grew up. Then, I like to hear the woman talk about sex. What does she like? When did she start having sex? What are some of her favorite encounters? Any "naughty" stories to tell? What's her best technique or sex trick? Etc.
So what do you viewers watch those interviews for? What do you want to hear?
Or do you fast-forward through it all?

It's rare that I listen to much of it. But if they mix in the striptease or at least some tit flashing and pulling shorts to the side to do a pussy reveal you better believe I'm watching!

I don't really mind since I've sometimes been pleasantly surprised. As far as I'm concerned, the more footage the better since I can always use the fast forward button if need be.

I don't like it, personally. I think it's too personal and some of the questions are about things they may not be comfortable with sharing with the world. I've seen more than a couple of girls squirming and obviously not really wanting to go there.

I don't think they are real interviews, in that they don't want the women to REALLY share what they think or feel, so fuck it. I did like the interviews with Annette in Slutwoman though, those felt intimate.

If the questions are limited to the onscreen performance to follow, sexual preferences etc. I find the interviews can be positive and stimulating.
If they cross the line into personal or private matters, that's a taboo.

Yes, only if the girl is smoking hot or has some sort of controversy surrounding her.

Is this a poll, btw?
Anyway, I tend to find that those interviews often ruin the whole freewheeling gonzo feel, it makes the whole thing look just as staged as it actually is. When girls mechanically explain how much they love, say, dp then I'll just get the feeling they probably really don't, which is not a good way to start watching a scene that might feature, say, dp.
Advice to gonzo directors: either have some playful scenario before the scene or just get on with it.

I always watch, at least the girls that I am interested in. I also love the BTS segments. Even though I don't watch his stuff anymore, I think it was Ed Powers that started all this stuff wasn't it?
Anyway, I like it because it gives us a closer look at these girls. That's why I love Belladonna's DVDs. Sometimes, her BTS segments can run 2 hours. She did one with Jenna Haze that was like 50 minutes by itself. I love hearing about the girls' personal lives, as much as they are willing to talk about.
I remember one pre-scene interview with Lisa Marie for Anabolic I think it was. She was going to be doing a rare DP, and the interviewer passed the questioning off to his girlfriend who was Gia Paloma. Gia starts off with something like "So tell us why you are a piece-of-shit whore" The look on Lisa's face was priceless. It was like "where the fuck do you get off asking me that". The guy said "She's worse than I am", and Lisa said "I know. I just wanna go home". She was kidding about that part, but it was a real moment and kinda funny. Gia wasn't serious, but it struck Lisa like a ton of bricks when she said it.
Poor Lisa. She was also the victim of another incident. In one of Khan Tusion's scenes for the internet, she went to rim John Dough and he farted right in her face. She was livid and stormed off the set. It didn't looked staged either.

Perhaps the directors could talk to the girls before the camera starts shooting and discuss which questions are appropriate and which aren't. That way, the woman can tell the director "Oh, ask me about my wild college days!" or "Oh, don't ask me about my family relations; I don't wanna talk about that."

I like the interviews, at least the first time I watch the scene, but I want the interview to focus on the sex act which is to follow. I especially like bukkake and gokkun flix, so I want to hear how the woman feels about what she's about to do. I hope talking about it makes her hot, and she strips and starts to masturbate, maybe even cums. I want to hear about her history of giving oral sex, 1st time 1 guy came in her mouth, 1st time she swallowed, 1st time holding multiple loads in her mouth, most loads swallowed at once, most extreme cum-oriented fantasy of hers. What is it abt. cum that arouses her, how hot it makes her to think about it.
During the actual scene, I'd like her to continue talking dirty, begging for more cum and telling us how much she needs it.
Finally, I'd like to see a more extended post-cumeating interview while her face is still splattered, in which she discusses what she has just done and how it made her feel and how she'd like to do it again, only w/ more guys w/ bigger loads, etc.

"Oh yeah, I really enjoyed the bit where he came in my eye"
I can only imagine that this type of thing would only exasperate the girl's already exhausted will to convince us that she is enjoying it.
Unless she adores being railed and creamed upon, like Annette Schwarz or Sasha Grey for example.

The first couple of times I was confronted with the pre-scene interview I didn't know it was coming and didn't know what they would ask and I didn't have time to think up some answers I was comfortable with. I wish them to the darkest pits of hell. They suck, and not in the good way.
Additionally, they're boring. They really do ask the same tired old questions to nearly every performer, and the answers just aren't interesting. I couldn't care less when someone lost their virginity. It was obviously sometime before that day. It doesn't matter if it was last week or last year. Nobody is going to do their favorite position in a porn scene, so knowing what it might be, if a performer actually answered the question honestly with a usual position instead of a porn position, isn't going to do me any good because I'm never going to get to see them doing it.
BTS interviews that ask interesting questions about an individual are the way to go.

I'm not interested in any interviews particularly those that originate with the exaustive "When did you first have sex?".
Its actually very simple, unless its dialog for a feature flick, I don't wanna hear any male voice period. Whether he's asking questions, or stating opinion I generally dislike any surrogate male presense, beyond the title of silent cock operator.
What I do enjoy, are the leadin segments where the female simply speaks into the camera alone, directly to the audience. While not all girls are completely comfortable with this, others have no problem at all, and if anything, would probably be best advised to experiment and learn new words or combinations that inspire "woodwork".

I like watching them for some reason. I guess for me it's just refreshing to hear a porn star actually talk instead of moaning all the time.

it's funny that the 'edgier' producers think they're being really subversive by asking sick questions like 'when did you first get fisted?' or something like that, but it's exactly the way you said it. it's boring. it's tired. no matter what the question, the context of a boring interview is really unexciting.
i don't mind an interview, but i prefer it if it's worked into the dialogue between the performers. especially if it's in character (say a doctor/patient thing). still contrived, but less mundane if done well. actually, it can be better than the rest of the scene if it's done well.

Like everything in porn, there is good and bad.
Most "interviews" are poorly done.
Yet, Quasarman manages to be witty and fun with the girls almost everytime.
People who can make it work, should.
People who don't have the skills to do it well, should either learn how or leave it alone.
I've enjoyed good interviews, so I say keep them... and I'll FF through the crap.

All our movies have separate chapters for BTS and Interviews. Before I do the Interviews,I always tell the girls that I won't ask any embarrassing questions.
That the viewer really doesn't care how tall they are or what their birth sign is. The purpose of them is for the viewer to get to know the girls and feel as if the girls are talking directly to them. I always interview the girls without their clothes on, so the viewer can get a really close up look at parts of her that are many times covered up by the male or female talent in the scene with them.
If the camera person has the trust of the girls, the interviews are much more natural and fun. They open up much more if they feel comfortable. My interviews aren't scripted, but they have to be different because sometimes, I'm talking to an 18 year old, a 40 year old, a newbie or one who has done hundreds of scenes.
If the girls don't feel comfortable or are asked stupid questions, they will respond accordingly and look disinterested. The interviews last only 3 to 4 minutes, so they aren't boring. If someone isn't interested in watching them, they can just go to one of the other chapters, like BTS, Photo Gallery or straight to the actual scenes.
There are of course those "special" interviews, with "special" girls. Interviews with girls like Sandra Romain, Nicki Hunter, Brooke Haven, Tyla Wynn, Mika Tan, Harmony and Kelly Wells have been VERY memorable.
I have the best job.

What is the purpose of the interview, anyway?
For me, it's a way to reveal the woman as a real three-dimensional person. The woman you may meet at a club or a local laundry matt or at the office, that you want to bang.
And, for me, I prefer "naughty" woman. I don't go for the sweet, innocent shy women. I go for rambunctious, mischievous slut women. But that's me.
Some viewers have stated that they don't care about the woman's personality; only her body. In that case, they probably wouldn't care for an interview, I suppose.
What is the purpose of the interview?

I like interviews before a scene. I want to know how the woman speaks. I like to listen to their voices. What they say is mostly garbage, but I like to lsiten to them talking about something...

Just wondering why I was quoted in pieces
I believe the omitted sentences add quite a bit of nuance and clarity to what I was saying.
I am totally at a loss as to why the selected pieces of my post were quoted to respond with "What is the purpose of the interview, anyway?"

This is the part, that interests me the most.
But usually this is faked, most tell the things
the director wants them to be told.
I like to know private things and the motivation to enter porn ( if its only money,
then please tell it ).

It's not that I don't care about the woman's personality. Rather, it's that some things are too personal to share on a video that could be potentially viewed by millions of perfect strangers.
Assuming a woman is behaving as she usually does, you can tell a lot about her personality just by observing her body language and her overall behavior. I prefer a bit of mystery. Things aren't always as exciting when you know what makes them tick.

I don't like it, it's often boring and IMHO a good hot teasing is way better
It would be better to include interviews as a bonus on the DVD

Problem is a heck of a lot of the guys who shoot gonzo and do these 'interviews' think they are hilarious.........they aren't.
Stick to the sex boys, if you were funny you would be on tv not making porn.

I don't like it when the videographers use the microphone built into the camera, when the range isn't very good.
So I can hear the interviewer loud and clear, but I can barely hear the woman. Hey, I enjoy hearing the woman speak, not the dude. No offense, guy interviewer. But if I had to choose, I want to hear the woman loud and clear. Plug a mic in. Hand her the mic.

I have way too much interest in the real lives of my favourite porn stars. Reading their blogs and forum posts with fanboy obsessiveness. Yet I don't think I've seen a video interview that hasn't had me yawning. Most of them are just so vapid and predictable, the ones that try to be funny usually aren't. They're what the fast forward button was made for.
