You copy/paste the URL from your browser's address bar into the top field, enter some descriptive text in the bottom field and click the button. It will generate a link that looks like this:

this is the description field
You can copy/paste this link into your forum post or click the button and it will be added to the end of your post.
If nothing happens when you click the URL button below the post entry text box you're popup blocker must be getting in the way.

You might not be adding the http:// Len?
Once in a while I'm unable to get the button Add to Forum Post to work once I've built the link but then I just copy and paste.

It uses some code to communicate between the popup and the calling window. Some browsers security settings may block this inter-window communication.

It works now. Maybe I left out the http:// part after all ...

Me too. Seems to just happen at random times. Always using Firefox.

^I have the same problem with IE. It happens about one out of every five or six times I try to post a link.

Do you happen to know if the link builder is open in a popup window or another tab in Firefox when this happens? Firefox's window-opening behaviors can be reconfigured by users. If the add to post function isn't working it's most likely because the popup window isn't able to access the window that opened it via .

I've noticed the link-not-being-added-to-the-message-automatically-so-you-have-to-copy-and-paste thing happening when the message was already pretty long. And maybe it makes a difference if your message already has a link in it. Or maybe it was all just a coincidence that the link builder happened to not add the link to my message automatically the times that my message was already pretty long. I'm just throwing different ideas out there.
