More than a week later than the previous years thread I might add. Second, as for that comment about site discover, the keyword search that the Mod in question referred to, will in fact still find this one. Adding DP in no way diminishes that. [Link]

Please forgive me for asking this question on the First Anal/DP forum, but I only read the topics related to DP's and GB's. I've run into a problem and I'm asking for help from anyone on here that has the knowledge to fix it. The other week I shutdown my PC and external drives and when I booted both up again a few days later, explorer opened a box telling me that I must format the two external drives. The appear as local disks when I open Computer. When I attempt to open either drive a box opens to tell me that the file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. I've gone through a few online suggestions. One suggested that I right click>properties>tools>error check. This tells me windows can't access the disk. Years ago I ran into this same problem and at the time I was working for an IT company and had access to the software needed to pull partitions from hard drives that were doing this very thing as well as coworkers who I could go to for help. And, as the older I get I've noticed that i have started to forget things I used to know how do easily, but since I haven't done anything remotely like this in years, I've all but forgotten what to do. Both disks are listed as working properly when I open properties. I really need to retrieve the data from these drives if anyone can help me out. There are files videos that I downloaded years and years ago that I wouldn't even know where to began to find again on the net. And all of these videos were downloaded from subscription websites. It would cost me a fortune to buy memberships to the different sites and weeks to re-download all the videos. Both drives are Western Digital 2TB internal drives that I have connected to my laptop via a NexStar hard drive dock. Again, I apologize for dropping a completely off topic post on here everyone. I feel what better place to ask for help since I know that many of you will understand how I feel about trying to attempt a recovery. Thank you all for any help. [Link]
