It's a tried and true tactic that still works. Although fans have become savvy enough to tell more often when a girl's G/G career is clearly calculated to follow the typical route. In that case, G/G fans don't bother in addition to the B/G fans, which leads to them having to make the switch a lot faster than in the past.
I think the best way is to do both vanilla B/G and G/G from the start. That way you won't alienate G/G fans with a switch, and the B/G fans can look forward to future "Firsts".
Look at Lucie Wilde, she did DP and Anal right out the gate, and it didn't do much for her career.
