By far and away, this is the most interesting and honest "porn" podcast I've encountered. The level of research, interest, and legitimacy with which these interviews are conducted is incredible. I have maybe 10 of them left to listen to--about people with whom I'm less familiar--and I can't get enough. I can also honestly say that I believe that the Rialto Report is providing an invaluable service in archiving information about this era in adult film that would otherwise be lost. I find it shocking and sad when porn scholars and fans don't know about the show. It's really one of a kind. I have re-listened to and transcribed episodes for my own scholarly work--the people they interview are simply unavailable elsewhere. The show is a godsend. [Link]

They raised $3,300.00 for her. In return, they mailed a 37 year old copy of Velvet magazine to me. I got an envelope in the mail the other day, with only a return address of T.G.A.A.F. I didn't figure out the sender until I decoded the initials. I stashed the old magazine under my living room chair, intending to read at a later time. The rape discussion was very odd reminds me of the strange use of the term in William Rostler's interviews in the early 70s book The Golden Age of Erotic Cinema (org. Contemporary Erotic Cinema). He asks the female performers if they've 'ever been raped' and if they 'enjoyed it'!!?? The recent article on Centurions of Rome was excellent. The research and writing for this and the article on Navred Reef are stellar. I can see why they are being consulted for Simon's new series The Deuce. The Long Jeanne Silver stuff was disturbing in that she was allowed to do so much crazy crapp before she was 18. My favorite bit in the Constance Money podcast is when she marches to protest her own movie (Opening of Misty) in Berkeley plus the interview with her Dad is kinda cool. So far, that article about Helen Wood aka Dolly Sharp (sidekick to LL in Deep Throat) is the most fascinating. Had that Stanley Donen directed mainstream musical, Give a Girl a Break, been a hit, her film career might have swung in a very different direction. I actually told my old man about this tale because he had likely seen the musical back in the day or on Turner Classics and he was the one who had scored Deep Throat on a 6 hour video tape from some guy at work. ---TBOne--- [Link]
