A post from Sir Noel Plum in the Int Trading Forum got me thinking about all the releases that are available from multiple manufacturers .

I'd never heard of Harmony before , so that makes at least 7 different companies releasing Evil Angel product ; Evil Empire ( Angel - US ) ,Colmax , Shiva , LAC Video , Night Trips , Multi Media Verlag ( MMV ) , and Harmony . There may very well be more for other parts of the world . Some directors appear to license their video to one company and others to more than one . For instance ' Lex the Impaler ' is available from Evil Angel , Shiva , and LAC .

Now here's the question , is it possible to provide a section on this forum where the different releases can be compared ? I'm talking less about whether all the extras are included ( as a rule they seem not to be ), more how the picture and sound quality are . Example , I've heard complaints about Shiva releases of EA product but is this lack of extras or dodgy video ? My own experience with the LAC release of ' Lex the Impaler ' was that the picture was indistinguishable from the American version ( no extra footage though ) . Some of these Euro versions are a good deal cheaper than their US cousins . So knowing if they are actually watchable once you've bought them could be very useful info .

It's a good point Lee O. You can add Wild Video to the list - they issue Rocco's movies in France. They're a good example too, as EroDVD sold off a cheap load of their titles but they're full price in French stores, and not of the best quality either, IMO. Lucy are another French label who release some Clark movies in France - I haven't seen any but have heard they're not too clever either.

I've posted myself about Euro versions and so forth, so I suppose you could post on the Porn Pool about this as it's a general DVD content issue. I'm sure our administrators are open to suggestion, but I don't suppose it would hurt to discuss this in this very thread, if you wish!

Why would I want to move this to the Porn Pool ( All Porn No Plot, Gonzo , All Sex - just future-proofing this post ! ) , your back yard is much nicer to play in .

Must admit I'm at a loss to what form such a list could take or where it could be housed . The main use might be for people searching the Int Shopping Forum history , and for that purpose this thread might be a bit useless . The title doesn't contain any recognizable keywords and frankly I can't think of any . Maybe it could be a variant of the ' International Shopping Guide ' ? You've just there listed 2 more firms I'd never heard of . Lucy and Wild Video . After your warning about their respective quality I'll be wary in future of buying any copies from them , can't help but feel others might welcome a similar warning .

www.axisshop.com here in Australia also release/licence a lot of EA product, although with all of the extras removed. As far as picture quality goes, I'm not sure as I managed to exchange a pile of unwatched axis-supplied EA discs for US versions before watching them.

I did get one edition of Joey Silvera's Please before EA had actually released it on DVD, so it's possible they master some off of VHS...

cheers,

scipio
