In some ways recording good sound is even more difficult than recording good picture. Why? Because a camera only sees what's in the field of view, but a microphone here's everything. As I sit here at my "quiet" desk, there's actually a dog barking, a battery charger buzzing, some disc drives spining, a TV going in the next room, and the sound of the fan blowing hot air coming through the heating ducts.

Normally we mentally tune these noises out, but for some weird reason when you record these noise and play them back we can't do that same mental trick. So if we shot a sex scene in here, you'd hear all these extranious noises along with the humping and slapping.

(Wow. Even when I thought I was really listening I didn't notice that the wind blowing through the trees is the loudest sound of all this morning. Completely blocked it out.)

So much easier to get some hot chicks and put them in a Hungarian mansion and shot slomo and not even bother with the sound. Most of that porn star moaning and groaning sounds fake anyway.
