When i visited my porn shop today i was kinda shocked to see that the company that releases Evil Angel DVDs over here does not have "their" company logo on the dvd anymore. This is really starting to piss me off because now it´s even harder to find out if you are buying an "original" US Dvd or just a licensed "euro " version. Like i said in another thread those versions are supposedly to be "edited/butchered" only the 2-disc dvds supposedly are like their us counterparts. The only thing different is the price off course .. but that´s about the only think you can see from the outside. Is it really in the hands of the companies who make the non us versions to have the covers any way they want ?
As if this wouldn´t be enough ... they have the following lables under their license "hood" Wicked, Vivid Club Jenna, Digital Playground, Andrew Blake, Harmony, Simon Wolf, RLD, IFG, Ninn Worx, Digital Sin, Evolution Erotica, Marc Dorcel, and a few others. As you can see it is a real problem to get "original" US versions in europe. A big amount seems to be comming from france (RLD, ANA, DIA, etc) too. I would really appreciate it if others could give some input wheter those versions are "original" or buttchered or otherwise less quallity as their us counterparts.
If you want the us originals, why not import? It's probably less expensive than buying us imports locally (my store carry PXP etc at twice the price I pay importing myself)
Not all euroversions have more content. Several companies here buy DVD rights, but only to the original movie, not the extra's, so the 2 disc versions of for instance Evil Angel become one disc versions.
since i don´t know all the facts i can´t say for sure that what you are saying is not true. To be honest this would be the icing on an already not good tasting cake. Back in the days of VHS a lot of euro tapes had about 85 - 90 min running time thus the company that released tapes of EA cut the tapes and "created" a new one with all the pieces
Why i do not import myself is quite easy ... i hate to give away movies for free to those "nice people" from customs. I paid my dues and i´m sick of it for good
I purchase nearly all my DVDs from US stores since 3 years now, and I never had any problems with customs. This is because they ship the DVDs without boxes in a thin envelope, so the customs didn't pay much attention to the package.
If you want to be on the safe side then let them ship the DVDs with a courier service like UPS. I never heard that a package send via a courier service ever was confiscated by customs.
After all you said, I think that you're also from Germany, because all the companies you mentioned are released here by Paradise Films. And the prices for porn DVDs here in our country are so expensive that it is cheaper to buy in the US and get every second package confiscated by customs, than to buy my porn here. And you get the real deal - the original US release.
I also had the Problem with Paradise Films releasing Evil Empire flicks in the past. I think the suckers always cut one scene out of every film to release them collected as "the secret adventures" DVDs. A damn trick to make more money. But I think they don't do it anymore? (Feeding Frenzy 7 was the complete 2 discs, no doubt.) Anyway, If I want to buy a movie, I buy the original version. You don't have to import them directly, try some online-shop in Europe. I highly recommend orgazmik.com, they are located in Switzerland and deliver to all of Europe. Never had any problems with custom that way!
I've been importing for a year or so now and never had anything stolen, never even been taxed - in sweden VAT is insane at about 25% of the retail price.
As a rule I think it's best to get US porn from the US and Euro porn from Europe.
Yeah, that's why I don't buy the Evil Angel versions released by Shiva/Night Trips here in Holland. They lack the extras. I only buy original versions from the US, I don't care if I have to pay more.

Cubesnake - what country are you from?
For what it's worth - I can't guarantee that any movie that doesn't have the Evil Angel logo on the boxcover will have the full US version of the movie inside.
