I prefer the woman shutting her eyes in the climax moment, that looks hella more believable, orgasm-wise. A good female performer should be able to do that in a way that looks really sexy, I think.

^One of my pet peeves with porn is that almost nowhere is the content about realism and sex. Apparently, people will not pay attention if the performers are not hamming it up in a corny way.

My question is: what are some recent films from 2025 or 2024 that you think NAIL modern porn well, maybe even in ways that would have previously turned you off? For ex, I recently saw some scenes where women are like filming themselves through their cell phone being super excited to suck cock. This turned me on in a way that I didn't expect.

I agree it can sometimes get a little over the top, but this is also media and entertainment and fantasy. I don't want to watch a movie about a regular dude who goes to his accounting job and has small talk with his coworkers and then goes home and cooks himself dinner before reading a book and going to sleep. I want to watch something (porn or otherwise) that has a little more extreme, interesting, and yes even unrealistic aspects. I am married and can basically have "real" sex anytime I want. I go to porn for the stuff that I know is unrealistic to request of most women in real life.

^Yeah, for me, dumb stuff people don't actually do is mainly a turn-off. If if click on a porn and the folks don't remotely look like they are having sex, I am may as well have clicked on a video of Looney Tunes or something; cute when I was 5.

Most shock-value stuff, porn and otherwise,ng reads as low-effort, low-quality to me. I think there is some plateau porn viewers are all supposed have where you are supposed to start liking "mom anal fishing her daughter" because dopamine receptors are oversaturated or wherever but to me that stuff just comes across as retarded cartoons.

If it aint sexy, I don't want it wasting my time.

I've seen pro amateur scenes and amateur scenes - realism is subjective. Nobody watches WWE or various action movies for realism, that's why there's an entire set of Youtube videos where the experts break down what is actually feasible vs what isn't. Speaking for myself, sex that is confined to 2 or 3 positions with a quiet orgasm to the point that it is practically unnoticed doesn't work for me. Do I dig the over the top BS like Brazzers tends to put out? No but there's a fine line to be tread. MissaX/AllHerLuv, Pure Taboo, GFF and Sweetheart Video do a nice job of this. Even Holly Randall has said that she gets quiet and still building up to her orgasms and acknowledges that it is not visual or palpable enough.

THIS. 100% THIS. There was a period when G/G seemed to be trending in that direction (focus on the sex). Then, we moved towards skits and convoluted scenarios....sigh.

I wish I could answer: this film and that film, etc etc. But I still haven't found what I'm looking for (*Bono voice*). I saw some nice scenes with a pornstar called Princess Alice, but what I liked about those scenes were her, the performer, her charisma and sexiness - not so much the directing or anything else about the production.

Something that I have found recently that I can actually recommend is the visual novel "Pale Carnations". Another good erotic visual novel is "Being a DIK". I'm surprised that I have been able to be aroused and fascinated by this kind of porn, but the writing, the visuals and the audio in those visual novels are on such a high level of quality that I'm actually stunned. I wish modern day regular porn could pull me in like that. Maybe it can, but as I said, I haven't found the right films yet. Haven't given up though :)

Covid killed mainstream porn in general. It showed the models that having your own platform as an OF is a necessity, and many studios just didn't survive or lost themselves. The number of scenes dropped dramatically and has not recovered. Studios used to put out content more often and of higher quality.

Now the focus has shifted from quality to cheapness. There are not as many expensive big movies, with story, sets, locations, there is an emphasis on simplicity and economy. Just like a conveyor belt with the same thing, creativity in mainstream porn has gone to the background. Showcases with stars have become a rarity, if earlier models were eager to develop, to do something new, because they were offered a lot of money for it and in general, to have their own showcase was prestigious and wanted, now there is simply no such incentive.

The career of an average model has become incredibly short. Whereas girls used to be able to shoot for at least a year or two, now it can take months or half a year. You never know when your favorite model will have her last scene, because she has OF where she can post nudes and pay her bills. No one signs contracts anymore, agencies aren't needed that much anymore, basically careers in mainstream porn are no longer made.

The flow of beautiful new models has diminished, rather onlyfans models may enter mainstream to get a little more popularity. And I started to believe less that actors like sex, everything is too mechanical, emotions, movements, it's very rare to see a scene where everything does not follow the same pattern, but just passionate sex.

In fact, there's a shift to the point where subscription platforms will become the new mainstream porn, where models will make their own mini-movies to differentiate themselves from other models. Doing collaborations has already become the norm, do your own big projects and hype.Make their own studio. But for now porn is boring.

For me its.
1 - Editing & cinematography can make or break a scene.
2 - Weak ass cumshots i have not seen a good tit blast in a while or even a face blast.
3 - POV i am not a fan off.
4 - Keeping Clothing on during the sex, the amount of reverse cowgirl scenes ruined by that is a shame.

Another small issue i have is also the lack of sets which i understand, but in the older movies you could have a 5-6 scene movie with a fuck anywhere from house to backally all the scenes would have been different but not so much these days.
Its not a big deal but the bedroom, kitchen does sometimes wear a bit thin.

I will give a positive.
I did see a scene a while back i think it was from Drocel or Private that was in an apartment i think, with big glass windows looking out over a snowy city a great backdrop for a scene. Now i can't remember the scene too well but it was a great looking. If i find it i will add a pic.

This is a really interesting point. I think that you are right.
I agree :(

Old porn (let's say the period from 1995 to 2005) has lower picture quality, no so smooth editing, and fewer truly beautiful performers, compared with today's porn. Still, today's porn is not better. It lacks the excitement from old porn. It doesn't matter how many cocks are facing in a gb scene, or how fast/hard/merciless she is fucked, or how long the scene is - if the excitement isn't there, the energy isn't there. No one - not performers, not directors - seem to be particularly horny. So it has become a mechanical, practical thing, rather than an arousing, dirty thing.

Agree 100 %. One great (and underestimated) thing about porn is that it magically can turn any place into a place for sexual encounter. Directors don't use that opportunity enough. What do we get, a swimming pool, an office, a bedroom, a kitchen? Lame. There could be so many more places that could be turned into portals to the pornographic dimension.

I hope you find that scene and can add a pic, sounds nice with the snowy backdrop!

Are you kidding? Whatever else you can say about porn in the 90s and 00s, the stars of that era were absolute knockouts. That changed rapidly, beginning in the mid-2010s, largely due to diminishing economic incentives, relative to other options. There are maybe a dozen performers today who can compare to those of previous eras, but a lot of girls who in another time may have considered porn, are now "influencers," or shooting terrible 30 second cellphone videos for OF...

I'll add perhaps one issue that is very much affecting the industry today - complete de-anonymization. It all started with the Internet era, but if in the 2000s it was still possible to remain unrecognizable, in the 2010s it became very difficult, now it is impossible. From day one in the industry, models are already exposing themselves to the world.

I mean, if before some girls went into porn for fun and quick money, some were even sex enthusiasts. You could do a few scenes and walk away and you'd be forgotten. Now everyone realizes that the Internet doesn't forget anything. Even what I'm writing now, lol.

And even though OF and amateur porn is at it's peak right now, that doesn't mean that being recognized on the internet doesn't hurt anyone. But there's definitely less people wanting to go into mainstream porn because of it. Still, to star in a big studio or to have a small page on some fan site is different things. But I think the problem of deanonymization on the Internet is only gaining weight until society becomes more adequate and understanding.

Now porn is way more money and fame than before, but risks are higher too.

^ I agree, but I think there is another element here too. It seems that younger people crave fame in a way that earlier generations didn't, and with social media, they can sometimes achieve it. The rise of the Influencer is likely the best example of this. I have no knowledge of this in any specific cases, but I suspect that some younger women who crave fame see porn as a way to achieve that - for better or worse.

I agree completely that there is no hiding a porn past these days.

In the US, with the rise of the Christian Right, I wonder if this porn notoriety will have a bigger negative effect these days than in the past. If you can count on the Christian Right to have one trait, it's doing the complete opposite of what Jesus taught, and I suspect that ruining lives is a source of immense pleasure for them.

Maybe I expressed myself unclearly. I meant that porn from that period is better and its performers are hotter compared with today's porn - DESPITE the fact that the picture quality is unimpressive by today's standards and despite the fact that the girls back then didn't look like Tushy models (and the boob jobs were horrible). I do love porn from the 90's and I don't think that it is only because of nostalgia. The sense of sexual energy was just higher in those dirty old porn flicks.

Today's porn seems much more like the product of a machine, in my opinion. Which is ironic because at the moment, porn is in the middle of a great crisis, we don't know what's going to happen next, we haven't seen the end of the effect of OnlyFans - not to mention the long-term effects of porn consumers no longer buying DVD's. An industry with an insecure economic system, and weak incentives for performers to choose the non-independent route, is not a great platform for developing an exciting porn culture.

The music industry has survived the downloading era by turning its focus to live music - there is money to be made there, for sure, and so a new ecosystem for music can emerge. I don't know how porn will handle its (somewhat similar) situation - it will be interesting to see. All we can say with certainty is that porn will survive us all, in some form or another, I mean it's been here since the Neanderthals. But the ironic thing is that even though porn is in the middle of this weird identity crisis, the actual product still looks more or less the same. Just with a lower degree of fun and sexiness to it. It's like the whole porn scene is in a period of bad self esteem and lack of imagination. It doesn't dare to take any risks, it doesn't surprise, it doesn't excite. It just delivers. Call me a fool, but I want more than that.

^ OK, so I guess the point on which we disagree is that you believe that "look[ing] like Tushy models" is a positive descriptor. Personal, purely as a matter of physical attractiveness, I will take nearly any popular performer (with a decent-sized fake rack) from the 90s through early 2010s over anyone who has ever appeared on that site.

Also, I strongly take issue with the "boob jobs were horrible" comment. Most of the greatest sets of tits of all time were in porn in the 90s or early 2000s -- Bridgette Kerkove (first boob job), Lovette, Wendy Whoppers, Heather Lee, Nadia Hilton, Tiffany Towers, Letha Weapons, Leanna Foxxx, Angelique Dos Santos, Tina Cheri, Veronica Rio/Castillo/Brazil...I could go on forever. IMO, the biggest problem with porn today is that we are unlikely to see many performers who look like that going forward...

Yeah i agree that was an odd take the tits from 90s or early 2000s were great they had a good look and bounce to them that you don't really get these days, Maybe its because there are cheaper and easier to get these days so most people don't go to the top surgeons or its just a lost art.

And another one - AI Invasion. It's everywhere, people are creating photos, videos, deepfakes, models are using chatbots to communicate with fans, creating photos of themselves without even doing anything, editing videos, coming up with titles, descriptions.

I realize AI is convenient, but it blurs the line between reality and fiction.

When models write when they advertise themselves that I'm real, I don't use chatbots and I take original photos and videos, it's already alarming.

Deepfake is a separate topic, it is a threat not to only porn and privacy, but to humanity, which in the hands of an evil genius can create at least panic, and at most war. And I'm not exaggerating, the level of misinformation on the Internet is growing at a tremendous rate. If they don't come up with a solution, the courts will either set them free because the video is fake, or put them in jail because someone skillfully set someone up.

But back to porn, how long do you think it will be before there will be porn models created with AI and entire studios making videos without real actors?

OK, I'll give you this: the boob jobs were much better in the late 90's compared to the early 90's. It was a somewhat generalizing comment - maybe it's just that I'm still heartbroken about Tania Russof getting her beautiful breasts "enhanced".

I think that will happen, but that it will be more like a niche. Like hentai porn. I can't see AI porn taking over the whole game, but I do think that there is a market for that kind of entertainment. One big thing about porn has always been the illusion of authenticity. People (porn consumers) want to believe that what they see is a real woman, getting penetrated like that for real, also enjoying it for real. It is not so easy to keep that illusion in your head if you're looking at some AI generated woman getting penetrated by AI generated men. But if it isn't just a film - if it is completely interactive, and you, the viewer, are controlling the action yourself, making the "woman" react in certain ways - then maybe the AI generated porn will be sufficiently arousing on its own terms, so to speak.

There isn't enough oral sex in porn for the girls. scenes usually consist of a 15 minutes BJ in varying positions then they spit on the girl's pussy and start fucking. On rare occasions when they do actually go down on the girl it's only for a about a minute and the guy looks like he doesn't have a clue what he's doing or the camera keep panning off in random directions or focuses on the girls face for ages instead of filming where the action is.

Why do porn directors have an aversion to cunnilingus but are willing to spend 15 mins on a BJ, are they gay?

Another topic is Massage porn. You have a naked girl lying on the table, the guy walks in. Rubs a bit of oil on her for a min or 2, flips her over and plays with her tits for another min, he may or may not venture downstairs for a hot second then he lobs his junk out and shoves it in her mouth. It's a MASSAGE scene, massage the poor girl, play with her and get her off before you get your dick out. Earn that damn BJ, it's not supposed to be about you.

There is also too much Anal in porn for my liking it's crept into everything even Lesbian porn. And ass licking, a guy will spend more time eating a girls ass than he will eating pussy.

Most guys suck at it and half the girls don't want it. That's why you see it less often. More recently I had shoots where the girls asked not to be kissed.
Massage porn is being phased out in general. A girl lying naked on a table looking unconscious getting rubbed up by a guy could be misconstrued for assault so the credit card companies is disallowing this type of content.

Male on female oral is always difficult to film and even more difficult to present in a way that isn't going to put viewers to sleep. Female on Male oral is tough because a lot of girls just aren't good at it and are clearly not enthused about having to. I can't tell you how many scenes the girls just half heartedly lick the head of the cock while clearly counting down the seconds until it's over.

We need some situational context here. If it's the POV-style casting and step porn, it is true it is difficult to film male-to-female oral, but overall it isn't when the camera is not POV. :P
I've only had one truly awful blowjob from a pornstar. Vast majority have been better than non-porn people. Ariel Grace was next-level amazing.

Don't laugh, but some girls feel kissing is more intimate.
I also think some guys dont take good care of their oral health so girls are turned off.

This isn't on topic, and I've never had and never will have a BJ from a porn star, but I think a lot of women probably think that all blowjobs are created equal, when they aren't. Some are good, some are great, and some are bad. After 20+ years, I still remember a blowjob from a young lady in Toronto. It was after sex, so I wasn't expecting anything else, but wow. Unbelievable. Even though I was spent, I lasted less that a couple of minutes. That memory still sticks with me all these years later. I hope every guy gets to experience at least one mind-numbing blowjob in his life.

This is interesting. I think most guys suck at cunnilingus, and since the clit is very sensitive, I understand if some female performers prefer that the male performers keep away from that area, rather than giving them lousy/uncomfortable oral "stimulation". This is also true of rubbing the clit. In real life, rubbing the clit is essential in anal sex, otherwise it can be very painful for the woman. But in porn, anal sex for women is not primarily about sexual satisfaction - it's about performing in front of the camera and give the viewer an illusion of sexual satisfaction. I'll never forget the scene with Remy LaCroix and Erik Everhard (I think it was in "Remy" 1) in which he is trying to be all gentleman-like when he fucks her ass - he is constantly trying to rub her clit while pounding her anally. And she is constantly (albeit discreetly) removing his hand from her pussy. Why is she doing that? Because he isn't giving her any pleasure, he is distracting her while she is trying to do a good performance. It is an interesting scene because it reminds you of the distinction between porn sex and real sex. And Erik Everhard might be great in performing in anal scenes, but he seemed less great in "reading the room" and giving Remy what she needed in that moment.

I would love to see more (well-shot) male on female oral sex in porn. It is difficult to shoot, yes, but that should be an inspiring challenge for any ambitious director. POV when a hot naked woman sits on your face, how can that not be more common in porn? Hard to shoot, yes, but still.

The kissing thing is also interesting. I would love to watch scenes when that thing is a part of the setup or script - a girl who is too shy/proud to kiss a guy (maybe she is cheating on her hubby or whatever) but she is willing to do other things... and in the end, after the orgasms and all that, she is actually willing to kiss the guy (or, maybe not even then). I love it when there is acting in a scene during the whole scene, not just in the few minutes before the sex begins. That is definitely something that is rare in porn (and it wasn't much better in the 90's).

I'm not sure what you mean when you say male on female oral is hard to shoot, someof the best pussy eating videos on the net are done by real couple amatures and they get the angles right so you can see what's going on down there. If amatures can do it why can't professionals?

I can understand not filming it when the guy is just plain terrible at it, unfortunatly too many guys suck at oral because they only care about what they're getting. My wife loves it when I do it and it's my favourie part of love making so it frustates me to hell and back when a porn dude dooesn't even try and you can easily tell he isn't interested.

That's the thing though; porn is not lovemaking.

And this has never been more true than of the content made today; porn is not sex. It's too riddled with meme requirements and shot in too many posed and disjointed pieces to get anything legit out of the performers, even the most willing ones.

I do like a good pose but you are right while porn was always shot in blocks it seems to be a lot worse now with some scenes having no flow what's so ever just from one pose to the next.

1. Not every porn performer aren't porn stars and the term porn star is thrown around too freely and losing its meaning
2. Content Creators aren't porn performers, because they never been on a porn set or shot professional porn
3. Porn performers should plan their careers for the long term but not the short term.

But you can't blame people for wanting to earn as much money as possible in the shortest possible time. If a girl wants to really cash in within 6 months instead of having to shoot for low budget studios for years - it's actually understandable.

It is understandable. It is also sad. I wish that the climate around porn - the culture around porn - was more open towards career-building and more concerned with showing the benefits of long-term commitment. A person can start as a performer, then after a few years become a director (women also - look at Mason), then after some more years become a producer or owner of a studio, and after that you can really reach the big bucks, if you play your cards right. There is a ladder to be climbed, like in any other field of the entertainment industry - porn doesn't have to be a "smash and grab" business. It's like the whole porn scene suffers from low self esteem. And why is that a problem, you may ask? Because it affects the product. The porn that is produced nowadays is often produced by people who haven't been in the game for many years and who will not stay in the game for many years to come. It's like nobody likes the game. Well, we the porn consumers do. Even though it's a frustrating love story. Like struggling in a relationship with an idiot.

Porn has always been open towards career-building. The industry is very liberal with a reputation for inclusivity across genders and ethnicity. A platform like onlyfans, shows that you can build a career around porn. There's a misunderstanding in your statement.

1. you can build a career at mcdonald's the way you describe, but most people don't want to. they want to do different things with their lives. Similarly, most pornstars are horny and want to fuck when they are young, but probably don't want to build a lifetime around it

2. most women don't really know what men like to see, so they don't do well as producers and directors.

There was this phase around the 2010s where some male and female talents acted as directors themselves. Jenna Haze, Lisa Ann, Belladonna, Mick Blue and a few others. But most of them gave up after a short time. Perhaps the porn industry is no longer lucrative via the traditional route.

We had a big studio dying years ago. Today we see former giants minimizing production. Mason only shoots a handful of scenes. Jules Jordan is not willing to pay for male talent and only shoots with himself.... which explains why his thread only comes up 3 times a year. LP/AV has had a massive studio death over the last few years. Even heavyweights like GG have given up.

I think big changes are on the horizon and a lot of studios/talents/directors aren't sure how to deal with it at the moment.

Never knew Jules was still about you think he would have a few guys about, That's what put me off Brazzers years ago when Kieran Lee was in nearly every scene i had no problems with him has a talent but he was in every scene.

I got put off Kieran Lee when he hosted that SexFactor show, he told one of the male contestants he didn't have a face for porn so he was rejecting him. There are plenty of guys in porn now and in the past who didn't have a face for porn but people don't care what the guys look like because you only see their face for a very short time. If Ron Jeremy can make it in porn anybody can.

Really that's just sad trying to be a gatekeeper in porn but i bet he still used all his buddies maybe the cameron mitchell of porn should not be putting other people down when all he did the last time i checked out brazzers was just lay on his back.
Maybe its people like him is why all we got for male talent 5-10 years ago where small skinny guys that looked like kids in the pay sites, nothing against them i would not deny them work but some verity would of helped back then but all it was, Was comedy and guys like Jordi, Juan & Ricky Spanish and old guys like Kieran.

Basically the same.

Joy and pleasure is what the creators of amateur porn show. Those who create accounts to share what they like to do and get paid for it. Some of them script themselves so they don't have to be the same all the time.

In mainstream porn, companies emphasize efficiency, lower costs and steady sales. I want something like when Greg Lansky first created Tushy, Blacked and Vixen, which was beautiful, fresh and exciting. Now it has lost its soul. In general, when they create a new studio, they try to stand out and emphasize quality, but eventually they move to an assembly line.

The assembly line approach is a MAJOR problem with today's porn because piracy is not going away. If you want consumers to pay for their porn and to grow your subscriber base, you have to produce scenes worth paying for. Otherwise you're hastening your own demise, realistically speaking given the rate of the evolution of technology - the porn scene business is an endangered species.
