Ok this was my 3rd year in a row attending the Expo. I enjoyed all three but here are some tidbits that sort of annoyed me.
Now I know the Expo is more for business, but it seems I got the impression us fans, who paid $70-$80 for a ticket, were not too important really. These guys with credentials around thier necks and recording equipment just whiz past you almost knocking you over to get interviews, which at times would take up to 10 minutes. Leaving the fans waiting patiently for the starlet to return to signing. No warning told to the fans, nothing. Maybe I am expecting too much? Joanna Angel seems to be one of the few who will tell the guys who want an interview "I am done at 4pm, comeback then as this is my time with my fans"
She did that last year and this year. Great girl she is.
Then there are those guys who want posing pics from the starlet. These guys see the line up, and just step in front of you and say "Rebecca can we get some shots" and they take about 25-30 pics.
Then there was the Jada Fire line up, and why do the guys who are involved with the girls in thier personal life have to get into some sort of serious conversation with them, get the girl all emotional? Isn't there a time and place for that? Or is it also for show? Jada I could see was crying as she had watered up eyes and a kleenex in hand. She wasn't very talkative to many after that, seemed the girl just wanted to hurry up and sign stuff, get pics etc. But before that incident, she was lively to the fans and laughing with them.
Then there was the Carmen Luvana line up and pics. Big Ed and another guy with tattoos that would be making sure you were not that close to Carmen for your pic. I seen them looking at where the guys would put thier hand for the pic. Understandable, so I asked where am I allowed to put it? The guy with the tatts says on her waist but not tight So compared to most other pics with others, you can't get close to Carmen. Thanks guys, remind me not to bother meeting Carmen again, or do the security staff look at all fans as pervs? LOL.
I guess i expect a alot for paying $70-$80 a ticket each day, so I just wanted to see if others understand what I am saying here. I know tons are regulars to this Expo so they may not see what I am saying, I don't know these girls on a personal basis so that may be why.
Kylie Ireland was superb, when someone was talking to her for an interview or something, she would say to the fans in line "Give me 5 minutes ok?" very considerate.
3 guys from some radio station walks up and asks for an interview, budding in the line, to Stephanie Swift and she says sure and walks over to the couch. Was about 15 minutes.
Also what is with the girls just up and walking away from the signing area with no notice? The Wicked line up had Stormy, Kaylani, Jessica and Randy there, Kaylani just ups and walks to the back and sits down. Poor guys who just got thier pic with Stormy and she signed the poster were 5 seconds too late to meet Kaylani, and then she comes back 5 minutes later, then does it again. I wasn't worried about meeting her, was more for meeting Jessica Drake. But still.
And the best has to be the friends who walk by, see a big line up of fans for someone and that person has to yell "Hi" to who it is and then go over stand in front of the fan who has been waiting patiently to meet the girl in line to talk to her for 10 minutes.
Just a thought here, is our $70-$80 a cash grab and then we get the snub for being fans not working in the biz in some capacity? I found that anytime you had guys who were to do interviews or photo shoots were the rudest people to fans, bumping them with thier stuff to get by and just acting as if we were not there or we were a pain being there. many of times I just walked away from the line up and didn't bother to meet that specific star.
The smaller studios/booths were the best, more fan friendly I found.
Rhymes & Dimes, Black Market, AEBN, Stilletto for example were so fan friendly.
Wicked and Vivid were ok, Ninn Worx was probably the best, girls were accessible and it had a better environment to it, the stage show on the otherside of the set up was eye candy galore.
Hustler's booth was a big fun party, but Adam & Eve it all depended on who was signing. Nina Hartley, Roxy Reynolds and Joanna Angel were superb with the fans. I mean when Nina Hartley was talking to me about when she used to be on the dance circuit and danced at the bar I used to DJ at in the 90's, I was considerate to keep it short for the other fans in the line up.
Most annoying time was in the Gina Lynn line up. Some dude gets about 15 blank sheets for her to sign, then gets an 8x10 signed then a pic with her. The next guy brings 3 magazines for her to sign about 8 pics in and then wants to snap a ton of pics of her. I am standing there thinking I limited my items to sign to 2 DVD covers for some but mostly just one cover, and get an 8x10 or poster or whatever the girl was giving to fans signed.
Overall I enjoyed my 3rd time round to this expo. This time I preferred to not meet as many of the ones i had met the previous two years. The jury is out though on going next year. If the ticket was $70-$80 this year, I bet it will be closer to $100 next year. I apologize if I am annoying or offending those who see no problems with what I found annoying. remember I am not a fan who knows these people on a personal basis so yes it may be different to understand it from a point this point of view.

I have to aggree with JennaRulez2006 a 100% I was shafted four times at this show. Due to interviews and "friends" stopping by. I missed out on Brianna Banks, Amy Ried, Bree Olson, and Stormy. We pay alot and yes I still think it is worth every penny considering meeting these stars at at stip club would cost you over $30 each but still it sucks to get passed by.

i've also been stiffed like that a couple of times every time i was there. this year, i had about 3 people in front of me, so about a 2 minute wait for hillary scott, before she vanished behind the curtain a few minutes for an interview
just across the aisle, i had a handful of people ahead of me for jenna haze, after whom i was going to hop over to monique. but then monique just got up and left. she came back for about a minuite, so i was like, ok, but then she left for good. ah well, at least i got pics with/of her from previous aee's

I agree. This year was only my second time at AEE and it seemed like the fans were second fiddle. I understand, though, that a large reason it's there is for business. It seemed like this year, the fan hours shrunk from last year. It felt like the Friday show this year was ALOT more packed than the same day last year.
I just hope it's not $100 next year. Maybe if I become a porn-blogger, I can get a press/trade badge? heheh :)
Next year will be interesting since I think CES will overlap the AVN dates.

unfortunately i have no experience with the aee. i was just able to attend some trades in berlin. i had a press ticket last year and it wasn't that easy to shuffle past. i had many "fights" with fans that didn't even wanted to make room after they took like 10pictures with her for me to get one (although i asked nicely and explained that i'll be gone quickly...)
and for the talking bit. why are you going there? just for pictures? if i have the chance to meet one of my favorite stars i definitly would like to talk to him/her. that's the most important bit for me. i know it slows down everything but when it's the only chance i've got to talk to them then i'll take it.
and after i saw how some people behaved while taking pictures with some girls i can understand that some have tighter security.
on the one hand i'd say they should open more days for fans to make it easier for everyone to get his share, but on the other hand this might kill the girls...

I'm guilty of pretty much everything JennaRulez2006 complains about.
70-80 dollars like everything else in Vegas is just a cash grab. You go to a show for 90 minutes for a magician, a beatles themed circus, or a couple of impersonators and they can charge you over a hundred backs.
I think you're expecting too much, especially with the grabbing holding the girls issue. Maybe the proper thing to do is ask a girl before you touch her in any way. Big Ed rules.

I was thinking that by mentioning the grabbing or "holding onto" the girls part I should have omitted. I am one of the guys who actually just puts his arm around the girl not grabbing her. Many times they put my arms around them for the pose in the picture. I always asked politely, yes may sound lame ass to many that a guy says "May I please have a picture taken with you" but I asked like that to each girl all 3 years I have gone. Also ask "Is it possible to have one of the 8x10's signed please, thank you". And after meeting them I always said "It was a pleasure to meet you" many times shaking thier hands. Just I didn't like the way the guy in the tatts was looking at each person getting his pic with Carmen Luvana, is why I asked him about putting my arm around her. caught him off guard when i did that. I then said "You are watching where each person puts thier hand"
Jessica Drake suggested that myself, her and Randy Spears do a group pic with the fact I had both sign Dream Quest, she was in the middle and joked "I seem to like being in the middle" I was going to ask if I could get a group pic but she beat me to it.
Those with press/trade passes are more important and I figured that anyhow. My beef is why do the fans get treated disrespectfully by most who have these passes? Were those people not a fan at one time?
Yes everything in Vegas, let alone all over the world, is a cash grab. But is it asking too much for a guy who works for example, some production company to say "Excuse me for a second guys" instead of walking right in front of the next fan who is about to meet the star he/she lined up for, just to talk to her, and do an interview that takes about 10 minutes? Some booths will get security to stand where the line will end for signing with that star, Adam & Even did this a few times and was a smart procedure, most times though like mentioned, no warning to anyone that the person was going to leave. Again maybe expecting too much for $80 I know.
My apologies for being a fan, buying product that makes the biz money not d/l or copying it, and not working in the biz and being known on a first name basis with those who do work in it. But it is us fans that make this industry work and make money no? So just a thought to those who get priviledged with passes, you too are/were a fan, show a bit of respect to those who are ok?

Moderator, lock this thread up if sarcastic comments start up. Just have a feeling some flaming and bashing is going to go on possibly. I just wanted to voice my opinion on some annoying things that seemed to happen is all.
And hey you are not a fanBOY? Ya right pal.

we got to remeber there is allways 2 side's 2 the coin, will we want bang for buck and payed money to get in, its a very small price to pay to be in a circle which we would'nt normally be avalible to us, and also it takes a lot of energy for these girls to be on there feet all day and acting bubblie to every fan who talks to them,
i think you should be bloody stocked to have been even if it costs you more,

ok so JennaRulez2006 has a bloody good point!
i havnt been nor will i ever attend such a money hungry event! we in NZ have also the same not nealy to the same scale as LV and never as many pornstars but a similar expo, and things like this never happens maybe because it tis so small an event, but seriously guys $80USD is lot to spend on when most the time all your doing is stading in lines for a person that(maybe your favourite but none the less) cannot garrentee they will still be there by the time you actually get your 5 min chance,
this infuriates me just to read this! not at JennaRulez2006 of course just at how yall are treated, its never lke that here but thats maybe because its to a smaller degree also its on $25NZD i would much rather boycott the whole senario, not give the money hungry capitalistic wanks a dime and mt your fav stars on another occasion, i understand that this maybe for some a occasion not to be missed but seriously it doesnt sound like much fun and isnt that what this is all about

It is what it is. Those with press/trade passes are usually not producers and therefore are motivated by their own self-interest rather than cater to the interest of fans. I mean some of them might actually be doing their jobs.
Things are not likely to change and if you don't think it's worth 70-80 dollars a day plus whatever travel expenses incurred, then you should stay home. Otherwise, you shouldn't feel entitled to more. You think the fourth time will be the charm?

Morbid-
I make a point of putting my personal email and my personal cell number on the talent appearance sheets that go out to all the pre-authorized press people for the show so that interviews and photo shoot times can be set up ahead of time.
Before Erotica LA this summer, and certainly before AEE next year, I'm going to be asking the people who certify press to be press heavily emphasize that they should make every attempt possible to schedule interviews ahead of time. I have 10 and 15 minute time slots booked for interviews and photo shoots for each girl. Even XBiz makes appointments, and I can't think of a single major mag that won't comply if you ask them to come back when the girl is taking a break of is done with her fans for the day. I will accomodate everyone that I can, but not at the expense of the fans. They each have their own time with the girls which I do my best to not let conflict. It's the press who gets us coverage, and it's the fans who spend the money not just to be at the show, but on the releases when they get back home.
In another thread, I explained to someone else that because of Belladonna's extremely long line (approximately a 30 minute wait), she wasn't stopping to say hello to ANYONE who didn't wait in line (Bella's rules which I happily enforced) - Bella even turned away one of her best friends, who at the time was very upset. I only once pulled Bella off her podium for an interview while she had fans waiting in line. And that was due to a mistake on my part where I forgot to cut her line early enough. I went up to all the fans in her line, gave them the picture(s) she was signing, and brought over one of the other girls at our booth to chitchat with them and keep them company while they waited for an extra 10 minutes.
With my girls with shorter lines that had a few guys at a time, I would have my booth security staff help me make people aware when I was going to need to bring one of the girls away from her podium for an interview.

I agree with a lot of what's been said, especially regarding the interviews...I was able to get a trade pass and what bugs me the most is when your waiting in line, the star gets pulled away for an interview with some random
person...there are times and places for that, and it's not when the star has a line of fans waiting to get some face time and an autograph...can't the interviews be done when the stars are done signing at their regular times? the fans with stacks of stuff is only mildly annoying, as it's usually the rare ones with phone book sized amounts of stuff that hold things up...but I also thing that the gorillas who ran security at adam and eve could have done a better job at not cock blocking fans...

I've always thought that the behavior of companies at AEE is a good indication of their attitude toward the consumers. I've watched way too many people get screwed over after standing on a long line at the Vivid booth to waste my time getting on that line, knowing that chances were pretty good that the girls were going to be pulled away a few times while I stood on that line.
The only time that I was willing to get on a Vivid line was once last year to see Savanna Samson (at a time when the line was very short). That was only because she's a friend of a friend and I heard shit from my friend for not going up and saying hello to her the year before.
As Tricia explained, there are some companies (not a lot, but some) that are really good about scheduling the down time for the girls and ending the lines ahead of time so that people don't waste their time waiting on line for someone who won't be there long enough to get to the front of the line.
There are other companies who care so little about the fans that they don't even bother having a booth on the show floor and have a business suite instead (where only people with appointments can go). For the most part, the quality of product from those companies shows the same level of contempt as their attitude about the convention shows.
Then there are the companies like Evil Angel & Jules Jordan Video (see quote from Jules prior to last year's AEE, when some other companies were bailing out of AEE), who know that the convention is not only about selling product to the distributors & retailers. It's just as much (if not more) about getting the fans to want their product enough that they ask the retailers to stock it.

That is always my plan.
However, when MSNBC or G4 or Wired.com shows up at the booth without an appointment, it creates a conflict. I don't want to piss off Wired OR the fans, but someone's gonna be angry at me.
99 times out of 100, I'll try to kindly tell the journalist that interview slots were pre-booked because of the tight schedules at the convention, but I will do my best to find a time that they can get the interview they want. But what do I do when CNBC says they're getting ready to leave the show floor, but they want to get a 5-minute interview from Belladonna first?

Ok we need to understand some things here.
First AEE isn't a "fan" show, originally fans weren't even allowed in, then they started doing "fan days" a few years ago.
The exhibitors pay a lot of money to exhibit at that show and what they want out o it is high level exposure and sales at the distributor level. So yes real press is always going to be more important to the exhibitors than fans waiting for autographs or photos or both, sorry but you really are "second rate" at that show and if you think about it from the exhibitors stand point you'd probably do the same thing. They tell the talent what the priorities are and the talent should oblige. The talent is paid to be there and if I am paying you 800 bucks a day to sign in my booth you damn well better do what I tell you. My point being don't necessarily blame the girl.
theres no reason for a girl to be rude to her fans but theres also no reason for the fans to be rude to the girls, many girls there will place your hands on their tits for photos etc, now if you think about it you can understand why Adam and Eve (or Carmen) might not want to present Carmen in that manner. Many of the fans assume way too much when it comes to being touchy. I always told my girls to take the guys by the hand and put the hands where its ok for pics, that helps a lot but some guys assume they don't have to comply and specially with girls like Carmen, it's much easier to have security to make sure things dont get out of hand....so to speak.
Just because a girl is a porn chick doesnt give you the right to grope her ina photo.
If you feel that this is unfair or not worth the 70-80 dollars....don't go. Remember that while you are paying 70-80 dollars the exhibitors and the industry attendees are paying WAY more than that, so yes, again, you are second class.
Finally, It has been standard practice at this show for years that industry people can cut a line, it's a kind of professional courtesy and I have told my girls to do it as well. If Ron Jeremy or Teagan Presley or someone has a girlfriend or a new girl in the biz and they want an autograph they do NOT have to wait in line.
This goes back to the days before fans were let in.
Now if it were MY call I would go back to those days and simply make it industry only again, if a fan wants in it isnt that hard to get a badge but it puts you on equal footing with everyone else there.
Erotica LA is a fan show, I have never been to that one but I would presume the rules are a little different there.

JennaRulez: Holy crap! Reading your thread has been a little freaky, since you pretty much echoed every little complaint and pet peeve that I have about AEE. Especially in regards to the friends who "holla" to the girl and proceed to have a 5-10 minute chat about whatever. I don't believe I've ever muttered the word "Douchebags" more times than I did last weekend.
However, I get that this is primarily a trade show, and that business and "knowing the right people" will always get you to the front of the pack. I get annoyed and frustrated as much as the next guy... but I've never questioned the value of my $70 admission fee. I've been to enough glamour model conventions - where you pay for every single photo you shoot - to know that AEE is an unbeatable value.
On the other hand, what some trade folks need to keep in mind is that AEE is also a fan event now. Times have changed, and you can't deny the role that fans play in making your business work. Tricia gets this, and I wish more folks would get with the program.
I don't think it needs to go as far as refusing all line-cutting, as Belladonna does (but bless her heart for doing so). All I wanna see is simple, common courtesy. If you're Jenna Haze's friend and you wanna say hello, but you see a line of 30+ fans waiting to meet her, then use your head! Have a quick "What's up" and set up a meeting time for catching up later. I really don't mind if the performer chats with a friend for a minute or two. It's when it goes beyond the unspoken time limit into full-on conversation mode that drives me up the wall.

Ok I may be taking Mike South's post the wrong way, but if us the fans are second rate, then how is any industry in entertainment funded or run? A distributor is in business because why? Me and all the other fans who BUY the product. Seems in this day and age of money hungry corporations, they love to bite the hand that feeds them.
I buy my DVD's online from a Montreal retailer...I live in Canada..and that guy who runs it is not making money off buying dvd's from the companies, but is making money from us fans buying the dvd's.
It is standard courtesy to cut the line because you have a pass, that is fine, is it customary for those who do this to be rude to us WHO do buy the product of that company or girl? Is it too much to be a bit courteous to people? Or is it that fans/customers are just low in your/thier minds? Hey those who work for the companies, write columns in adult mags, etc they get lots of freebies from the companies BUT remember you also were one of us, a fan who did have to pay for the product. Never forget where you came from.
I know that if I was priveleged enough to have a pass, I sure wouldn't be rude to fans lined up. I would remember I was once one of them too doing that same thing.
As for the Carmen Luvana line up, my point is if the guy there who obviously works in the biz is looking at each of us in a bad way, what abou him? he works in the industry, that makes him what? better than anyone else? If a guy is groping her then shit ya, I agree security should be saying/doing something. Not every fan is a lowlife to do that.
Hell when the girls put my hands on her breasts, I don't squeeze I laugh because I know the pic is going to look fun. What I am sure the girl is trying to do for the pic instead of a normal pose.
I love Tricia's comment and she is a smart business woman saying this "it's the fans who spend the money not just to be at the show, but on the releases when they get back home"
Take for example Stoya, now that she has been exposed to a slew of new fans, I am sure those will be searching online or thier local adult video store for her work. The fans are who make this business run, and if you think it should only be back to basics and only for trade, the industry has changed since then. More money is involved and more is to be made. And Porn is way more mainstream and acceptable than even 10 years ago. I think that having fan hours was thought of because some smart people in the business said "These are the people who give us all jobs because they buy the product"
Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed all 3 years I went. I may go again in 2009, not sure, as it all depends when that time comes.
I think when the guy who is a "friend" of someone shouts "Hi Stephanie" and she looks over and is surprised to see him is for show by the "friend" makes the guy think "Hahah see I know her" an ego thing because I am sure that any normal person shows common courtesy to people if they see a big line up.
A 10 min chat can't wait til she has a break? But again as it seems has been said we fans are just good for our money and that is it. Secondary to anything. Yet if we don't buy the product then what happens?
Evil Angel, Elegant Angel and Jules Jordan would have to be the best booths for the bigger companies for sure in terms of fan friendly.
Forget Wicked, Vivid, DP and Adam & Eve. Hustler was ok.
And when I mentioned about the cost, what I am saying is, it is pricey for fans and who cares if it Vegas, that is no excuse to say everything is a cash grab there, what I am saying is that yes what we get in terms of stuff to take home, yes worth it 110%, just how we are treated by pass holders is what I was getting at. I could see if it was a $5 admission sure.
The unwritten rule for customers in retail is pay your money and shut your mouth, enjoy what we give you. Been that way for years.

Anime and JennaRulez-
Thanks.
The security guards at each booth are very rarely a part of the company, and in some cases aren't a part of the adult business at all. I think I read somewhere that one of the companies hires bodyguards from an agency in Detroit.
These guys are doing the job they're told by the company, and in some cases, maybe they're carrying their orders out exactly... in other cases they might have the 'doorman' mentality of turning everyone who's not a VIP away without an apology.
I'd also like to add that I've heard from several people that Jenna Haze LOVES to sign for the fans, and has also asked that impromptu inverviews be scheduled so that she doesn't have to make her fans wait.

I'm not saying the fans ARE second rate, simply that within the context of this show they are.
And Id like to point out that by and large the fans do NOT dictate to any high degree who is successful and who isn't. Thats all done at the distributor label and with marketing.
Stores as a rule will special order what fans want but they stock according to the distributors guidelines more often than not. now you could argue that this is a direct reflection of what the fans want but you'd be somewhat wrong.
Before Evil Angel Jules Jordan was pretty much unknown, it was the strength of Evil Angel's distribution that put him over the top and enabled him to branch out on his own with a solid fan base. That didn't come from Jules signing autographs at AEE. That came from shrewd and intelligent marketing at Evil Angel that goes back years, predating even when Tricia was with Rob Black...no slams on Tricia here just noting that John took an approach to distribution and accounts receivables that nobody had done before and John was successful with it. i wont divulge the details but it was genius and it insured his long term success.
Personally i think there is a place for fan shows and a place for trade only shows and I do not think they are on the same show floor, and I think AVN is learning this as well.

No offense taken. Evil was the top gonzo company before I even met John, and I'm always the first to say that EA remains great because of John and the directors there. PR is about 20% of what I do at Evil.
I'm curious though... do you know something about John's approach to distribution and accounts receivables that isn't public? Bottom line: the directors own their product, John takes a distribution commission.
We don't lower prices of movies to catalog prices, we have a fairly high price-point compared to most of the other gonzo companies, we only do 1 or 2 reasonable sales per year, we'll cut off a non-paying customer, and we don't backdoor product. Did I leave anything out?

Funny how ClubJenna had more security than any company ever a few years back-and this year they were'nt even present at AVN. Something along the lines that Playboy did not want to pay for a booth until they saw some strong returns. I guess the fan does dictate the presence of a company at AVN.
Can't say the girls didn't want to be there either, because they were all there walking around-and they looked worse than ever, imo. Jenna Jameson leading the fugly pack.

What I know Tricia is how john dealt with distributors (three letter ones like IVD MHV and GVA) and that was a rock solid approach and one that came from a well thought out approach. It may not be a trade secret because anyone could have tried to do it and many have tried since and failed.
I see no need to post it here largely because it's irrelevant to fans but if you catch my drift now you completely understand. John deserves and has gotten lots of kudos (at least from me) for his approach to an ongoing problem for manufacturers in this biz.

If you think that the fans had any impact whatsoever on the decision not to have a CJ booth at AEE in 2008 you are giving yourself WAY too much credit unless you would argue that the fans caused the need for security and that because of the time spent with fans CJ couldn't do enough business to justify the enormous cost of a booth at that show, then I MIGHT concur.
Simply put, the decision not to attend was simply a decision based on ROI

I personally don't care if CJ had a booth or not-they came into the game just a few years ago-and they sunk fast. I must be psychic because I predicted that Jenna's company would fail. They must've saved a lot of money this year, not paying all those security men. I think you are giving ClubJenna "too much credit", aside from Jenna, and girl-girl performer Ashton Moore, who is a c-list porn star at best, I did not even know any of those CJ girls before they signed on. So the money wasted must have been on their security...???
On a side note, another new company Club Tera-they did it right-I enjoyed their booth and set up.

I understand both points of view. I start a thread in the PORN POOL saying how I think AVN/AEE has become less and less fun to attend as the years go by. I used to attend before it was open to the public and I liked it a whole lot better then.
Basically, there's just too many people at the event these days. Someone cutting in line to get an interview seems to be much more of a pain now because you've spent so much time in a long line because of the amount of fans. More people are taking pictures because there are so many fans attending now. Before fans were let in a big part of the crowd were business men/women who really didn't even know who a lot of the girls were and really didn't care about taking pics with them because they were there for business or just stopped by to see the half naked women. Back then most people didn't even bring cameras. I don't think there was much sercurity if any because the place wasn't mostly filled with over zealous fans.
Back then the VIVID booth was really the only booth with really long lines. Every other company had much shorter or no lines at all. More often than not you could talk to the girls for a few mintues or longer because there weren't that many people waiting to talk or take pictures with her.
The way things are now I personally don't think it's worth 80 bucks or so for me to attend the convention. It's just too crowded and the things mentioned by Jennarulez2006 have grown to become a pain. I just don't have as much fun as I used to.
But I have to say to Jennarulez2006 that as bad as the AEE has become it's probably still a better bargain than going to an actual fan convention. I went to a porn fan convention once and the the girls who were there were mostly worried about making money (which is understandable). Most or all of them flew out their on their own dime and they were charging for signing pics, taking pics with fans and hawking their stuff. All of the girls were nice about it but they were still pushing their stuff pretty hard. If a person had bought a few pics and autographs they'd have end up shelling out more than 80 bucks.

geez everybody, lighten up. if you don't like it, don't go. if you decide to go even if you don't really like it, well, then you're just dumb.

after reading these posts, I see a lot of valid points, but some did bug me a bit...the last two years I've gone I was able to acquire a trade pass, which definitely made things easier...06 i had to get in as a fan, so Ive been on both sides of the issue...I agree that yes, it is a trade show, but some respect should be shown to the fans, because ultimately it's their money that drives the business forward, whether on dvd's or online...tricia mentioned earlier that if a unit from MSNBC or Wired wants a 5min interview with a girl, than someone is probably going to get pissed...yes, and in my opinion it should be the journalist, because there are always times and places to conduct those interviews, and it's probably not when there's dozens of fans and such waiting in line for however long they've had to wait...but it also puts the stars reps in a bind because they are usually the ones who have to decide who get's the shaft...and I agree that to take it out on the girl is totally unacceptable...

Hey i just came across and read your post about my line up, Big Ed and the other guy with the tattoo where security hired by Adam & Eve, the reason why they where so up on the fans is because i understand that not everybody should pay for what other people have done, but when you do have more then 3 guys trying to grab your ass or your tits during these conventions, then they security is going to be on guard and make sure the guys put their hands where they are suppose to, i know some girls let the guys grab their boobs and that is all good and great but because of it then they go to another line like mine and try to do the same and then it becomes a problem because guys dont understand that not every girl allows that, and then that's when things get a little more tight (security wise) just tough i explain, allot of people don't know the stuff that the girls deal with so there is never that second part of the story said. And so i just did to give the people a little bit of a better understanding, i love AVN and am always nice to Everybody, but when you are nice and get people who are srating to get out of hand and being total jack asses then its hard to be able to sign freely and be your self.

You go to AEE if you're in the jizz biz. Otherwise don't waste your time, you'll have more luck meeting girls at the fall Nightmoves that Dirty Bob does in Tampa.

Sara Jay has a pretty interesting rant on her Myspace page:

She brings up a few good points. There's no doubt that convention space is getting pricier, making it costlier for companies to put up booths each year. Plus the price-gouging of hotels and additional service (food, security, etc) makes it alot harder. I've read somewhere that even CES was considering having the conference elsewhere in a few years because of all the price gouging. Hopefully that won't be the case for CES or AVN. I'm sure they work things out with Las Vegas because I'm sure LV can't afford CES or AVN not being there every year.
No doubt, I had fun at this year's AVN. I don't mind so much the price hike if it was the same size as last year, but it was noticable smaller and it felt like we were paying more for less. Ah well, I still had fun mingling with the porn stars and I do appreciate the stars and the companies that made it out there. As long as I get a bunch of autographs, SWAG, and pictures, I'm good. I'll probably be back next year. Hopefully the economy gets better so the companies come back too.

I heard that about CES...wouldn't blame them if they did give the bird to Vegas and relocated...business is business, but gouging is an awful practice...if AEE suddenly ends up relocating, I swear I'd probably cry...lol

There are a bunch of rumors flying around about it moving but they already have the dates and location stated in the AEE program for 09'. Does anyone think there is any validly to these rumors? Personally I do not know what to think....

I can't see AVN miving the Expo from Vegas really. Not sure if L.A. would be able to hold it as I have never been there nor to the LA Erotica, but I think for this type of Expo Vegas is the natural and easier choice. I am guessing mind you, but I don't think Vegas has the residents and businesses who will complain about what type of Expo/Convention is in town. I mean you have the AVN Awards being advertised on the video screen on the Tram from Excalibur to Mandalay Bay. I doubt many cities would allow that to be promoted that way. Also when I walked into the MGM Grand to check in, on the big video screens behind check in/out they advertised the AEBN night hosted by Marie Luv at one of MGM's bars and the Brittney Andrews party also there at a bar, let alone the Officla AVN Party hosted by Nikki Benz and Puma Swede at Studio 54.
Also to Carmen, I was only a bit annoyed with how the guy in tattos was looking at each individual fan, I asked him if I was allowed to put my hand on your waist as he was looking at each of us fans. He seemed a bit caught off guard by me asking. And I didn't even stand that close to you for the pic really. I got the impression that being close is a no-no as last year Big Ed placed my hand where it would be, on your waist. Which is ok, last year's and this year's were bacially the same poses. And I understand that like in anything, all it takes is one bad apple to ruin the whole bunch. For me it is more a pleasure to meet you, get you to sign a dvd cover and/or an 8x10 and get to say a few words to you.
Some girls will do more provocative poses, but for me I know that if that is the case, most times the girl will take your hands and place them on her tits or ass. Sad that lots of fans figure groping the girls on thier own accord is ok. I mean sure it may be porn, but it is a business and the girls are there to promote the business.

I've never been to an AEE event but would like to someday. This is just an observation JennaRulez2006, but I noticed this Big Ed Fellow in both this year and last years picture. maybe he just felt left out...lol. I wonder what would have happened if you asked him to pose along with you and Carmen or better yet took a picture with him just so he wouldn't feel left out.
In all honesty though I do see both points of view. I'm just curious as to what the reaction would be if J-Q-Public stopped buying anything adult related. I know that will never happen though.
It just seems to me that this relationship(for lack of a better term) is symbiotic. We both depend on each other to survive and thrive.

I never even saw this guy "Big Ed" before?-He has clearly messed up one of your photos with Carmen though, placing his ugly mug right in it. But I think it is also the person who took your photo, he or she could've easily cropped him out of the picture by either moving closer or taking it vertically. Anyway, I think this guy "Big Ed" looks like Guillermo from the Jimmy Kimmel show-he is also another annoying security guy :)

Bloody stocked. Don't you mean stoked?
(i think you should be bloody stocked to have been even if it costs you more)
This last sentence doesn't make sense. Infact the whole thing doesn't make sense.
