| von_swine Member Dominance & Persecution. 919 Posts 1/04 | Posted - Feb 5 2014 : 5:52PM blowbangs/blowbang movies; runtime is a huge factor when selling (dvd) to buyers, and blowbang scenes get boring, regardless of how many dudes are in it, if you push past the 30 minute threshold. the popshots can help take you over 30, but if those haven't started by that mark, it will make your scene seem redundant, even if the girl is fantastic. so, you cant load up a disc w/30+ minute bj only scenes. I mean, you CAN, but bj/blowbang scens are very 2-dimensional and the shorter, more concise they are, then the higher the intensity is for everyone involved. when we were shooting the huge pileups, there wasn't much competiton to the dvd format so we always broke even at some point, and even profited eventually, now that's too much of a risk. also, the buyers tend to choose dvd's w/more gals in the cast than the ones w/only 4, and that's who (we as shooters) have to cater to first & foremost when asking for a premium price per unit. re-encoding; Mike and I both know it was a huge blunder not to save our 'HD splits' onto external drives, but that's what happened w/a portion of the older library. now, people aren't going to re-encode our movies for free last I checked, and the membership model for websites is waay dead unless you already own your own network, or have been dug in since 04' before it all crashed for dvd. so for us to pay for re-encoding, then hope to find a decent and hungry (and honest) webmaster, then find a decent %, and then hope it works out, isn't something we're clammering to do right now. building/designing a member site has to be paid for too, so who's fitting that bill? now, if the right scenario presented itself, or does, then we'll be on it, but for the time being it's not feesible financially to risk it not working out at a high level, which it would have to. clips4sale; the ONLY people that make money at C4S are people that post their content trades, or stuff that's non-sexual (i.e.;doing dishes naked, face sitting, etc.), and content trades dont cost anything to shoot. hard sex doesn't perform too well over there from all of the people I know who've gone that route, and again, who's going to spend HOURS of uploading in various formats to a clip store that pays what?,..50% at best.not me, there's no time. it seems better in this age to NOT have your library all over the web so when people actually want to license your content, they're willing to pay a premium since it's kind of exclusive thru them. on the outside looking in; Im sure being 'knoweledgable' fans leads one to think there's some unity here in xxx, but there isn't. unless their cut is so favorable for them, there is nobody looking to help us w/any of this because it's ALL competition across the board. we're very fortunate to have JJV as our distro, and to have a DEEP catalog, as those are the only 2 things really keeping it all above water in the recent downturn. shooting smaller scenes is the only way to survive (for us) as the performance of the dvd no longer relies on load count, just pretty faces. Mike and I are just like an old rock n roll band who've found a way to stay alive w/gigs and tours on our own terms still. Mopes only get between $150-$200 per bj scene, so if you're gonna spend $300+ per month on testing for (hopefully) a handful of scenes, you cant stick around. if those dudes have reg jobs they cant always blow off their 9-5 just so they can come over and get their di*k sucked... this paradigm shift(in XXX) hasn't quite completed yet, when it does though, the only thing that can save gonzo, and the harder/messier themed movies is people paying for what they crave on a level that re-invigorates the producer/directors still standing at that time. I know why people like free porno, and get that surfing tubes has re-wired how 80% of the viewers brain works when searching/looking for some xxx to jerkoff to. it's a click after click of never ending scenes, or tags, or performers until the stroker reaches the tipping point and gets off,... but Im sure all of you can see what the new, hot girls are NOT doing compared to when new, hot girls showed up from 99'-05'. that will never return if the strokers keep gorging themselves on free porno... lates, von S.
