I just saw Torn the other day - anyone seen this yet? I'll write a review soon (as soon as I get the very late newsletter done )
Holy moly does Ginger have a lot of sex. Usually the star on the cover is in a good portion of the sex scenes. Not in Torn - Ginger is in almost every scene - I'll have to go check my counter but I think she has 7 sex scenes. I can only remember two scenes without her.
I was expecting a couple's feature film. But Torn is mostly sex with some dialog and a semblance of a storyline. There is one incredible scene with Ginger Lynn and Juli Ashton on an airplane - they make one hell of a pair - and the dialog is so friggin funny. This is one of those scenes that belongs in the porn hall of fame
Great disc - VCA has been getting better and better with the extras (extras unique to each film.)

Steph,
I have to agree with you. This DVD is a leap in the right direction for Extras. I loved the behind the scene stuff. And the best thing about it is Ginger Lynn. She has got to be one of the hottest girls around. Yes she is older, but we all get older as time goes on. The only gripe was she wasn't with Peter North or Tom Byron. I would love to see her and Marilyn together. A true treasure for the Ginger fan.

This is the same Ginger Lynn Allen from the Wing Commander video games, right?

Darkmage, that's right. I just received my 'Torn' DVD today. Can't wait to get home to check it out.

I loved the second sex scene when Ginger gets it on with three guys. She seems insatiable in this gangbang. The rest of the movie is good too but this particular scene stuck with me the most.

I have to give the title 5 stars! It's right up there with "FLASHPOINT". It's a good feeling when you've played the disc and you feel that it was worth every $ you spent on it.

This is an old topic, but I just got to see this disc. I liked it. It was more hardcore than I expected, and Ginger Lynn has gotten more aggressively sexual over the years. Chloe looks really good in this one and is as intense as ever.
This is also possibly the clearest, nicest DVD transfer I have seen outside of major mainstream films.
Veronica Hart seems to like playing with old porn cliches. I flipped occasionally over to the commentary, and she mentions her old scene from "Afternoon Delights" in connection with the dentist's chair scene.
The commentary is quite interesting, although they wander off from the movie a lot. That doesn't really matter, I like the spontaneity of the situation.
Why does it say "Additional bonus scenes" on the box? I can't find any. Not that they are necessary.

I'm a new reviewer, and I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced disc problems with Ginger Lynn Is...Torn . I ordered my first copy in October 2001 and a replacement copy about two weeks later, and both contain identical errors.

The scene called "Cued Up" appears to be missing eight minutes of footage. In title 1, chapter 21 at 01:17:30 elapsed time, the picture begins to blur and disintegrate at the edges. A dark band of variable thickness appears at the right side of the screen. When my player clock reads 7:58 minutes remaining, the DVD skips to title 2, chapter 1. In "Hot and Hard" (title 2, chapter 10 at 00:40:44 elapsed time), the picture briefly breaks into three kaleidoscopic images, but corrects itself within 22 seconds.

I also noticed that all animations in the "Jump to a Scene" chapter menu display clips that are actually included in the movie. All except one: the "Cued Up" clip shows a vaginal penetration that's definitely missing from the feature.

I have described my problems to tech support at VCA. They were kind enough to answer very promptly, but they claim there is no missing footage (just a variation in time code from one title set to the next). They also say the black edge results from a camera angle shot through a closet door, and the kaleidoscopic effect is an intentionally prismed set piece.

I love this movie and want to review it for ADT. Since no one else has mentioned the above issues, I'm wondering if a quality control problem has recently developed in the DVD transfer process. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Torn was great-I thought it was interesting that the gangbang scene took place early on, as if if to put any doubts to rest that Ginger can still kick ass.

I got to talk with Ginger earlier this evening, and she said that she will be doing another Veronica Hart feature for release in 2002, this time with Ashlyn Gere. In short, she'll be continuing to do hardcore movies for a while.

Cool! The first adult feature I ever saw was a highly edited, soft-core version of Ashlyn Rising . I haven't watched any of Ginger's earlier work yet, but I definitely need to check it out. (My first priority, though, is to buy New Wave Hookers 6 !)

Back on topic... Zatoichi, do you remember if the pool table scene on your copy of Torn had any obvious disc errors? Or was it intact?

I have yet to see Torn on DVD-I was so psyched over Ginger's return that I bought it on VHS as soon as it came out. I almost bought the DVD tonight, but now I'm wondering if there's some kind of mastering problem. Sorry I can't be of more help.

New Wave Hookers 6 is excellent, perhaps the best of the three movies Ginger's made since her return to porn. Trivia bit: Ginger told me that parts of New Wave Hookers 6 were shot in Joey Buttafuoco's garage, and that he hung around on the set, watching as it was being shot.

Hey YogaGrrl,

I don't remember any flaws on my copy of Torn - and I just read a few other people's reviews (on iafd.com) who also didn't note any problems.

Have you tried your copy in another player? Are you using a DVD-ROM or a set top player?

btw - Excellent review of Snow Leopard!

Thanks for the compliment, Steph! It means a lot, coming from you...

No, I haven't tried my disc in another player (I live in a small town, and I'm too shy to ask if I can borrow anyone else's player). I'm running an Apple DVD Player on an iMac G3/500. It plays Cafe Flesh 2 (a VCA release of similar length) just fine. And since the good folks at VCA tech support were able to see the same "flaws" as I did, but explained them away as "artistic effects," I believe this problem is completely unrelated to my player. I've asked them to try to track down an older print and compare the two; I'll let you know if I get a satisfactory answer.

The "Cued Up" scene on my disc lasts under three minutes; that can't be right.

Thanks for the info, Steph! It didn't occur to me to check DVD Empire's scene index.

I did previously check the reviews at that site, however, and two of them refer to specific sexual action that is absent on my copy. John Murryhill wrote the first one on 2/11/2000: "...he strips her and shows her what the rails are really for on the table. For a little change, he rolls her over and pounds her doggy-style for awhile...." [ invalid url ] wrote the second one on 5/31/2000: "John goes to work on Ginger with his tongue and four fingers before giving her a fuck on the pool table." In my e-mail to VCA, I explained that can't find any of this on my disc.

I truly appreciate the interest you've taken in this issue. You've already written a fantabulous review of Torn , and I don't think I can add much to it. I do want to find out if a quality control problem has in fact developed, though, so we can let people know (especially since that is my only disappointment with this disc, which is otherwise perfect).

I checked out my copy of Torn and see that yes, the time code starts over with the new chapter. I see the same black bars, which look like they're a door frame as VCA says and the kaliedescope effect as well (and agree that they both look kinda lousy). I appear to have the entire scene since the clip in the chapter menu appears in the movie at about 1:22. So it looks like you do and don't have a problem.

Although you claim to not have much to add, I hope we see your review of Torn (as well as many more). Some people are more confident of buying a movie when they see mulitple reviews, but more so, I thought your Snow Leopard review was great and want to see more of your reviews! Welcome to Adult DVD Talk!

Thanks for the warm welcome, astroknight, and for confirming that I'm not completely crazy, after all! I really appreciate that you took the time to check your copy for me.

I'm currently in the process of writing a review for Cafe Flesh 2 . I might be having...umm...a little too much fun watching it all over again, but I should have my comments ready for posting in a day or two.

I just want to provide an update on some additional things I've tried with my Torn disc. I got these ideas here after following a link on Snowman's site.

(1) I went to the Apple support site to search for updated driver downloads. There were none for my Apple DVD Player 2.2.1.

(2) I allocated 50 percent more memory to my DVD application.

(3) I turned off AppleTalk, File Sharing and Virtual Memory.

None of this had any impact whatsoever. I am still planning to review this disc in the near future. VCA, are you out there? Any further suggestions?
