| ObiBong Senior Member 1162 Posts 12/02 | Anyone else use one of these Logitech trackballs? I've used this one for about five years, I think, and it's been great. Today, I notice that the horizontal motion of the cursor is slow, but the vertical movement is still full speed. One of the selling points of this thing was no cleaning ... it doesn't even come apart in any way, so I can't take the ball out or anything. Time to just replace? [Link] |

I've found accumulated crap works its way out eventually, looking somewhat like felt. Then everything is back to normal feel and speed. I've been looking at the bottom of the mouse. It looks like the floorplate will come out with a small Philips. |
| astroknight Questionable Moderator Tastes so good... 4187 Posts 11/99 | If you take out the four screws in the bottom the top will come off (slightly reluctantly at first, but it's just a very tight friction fit or some gunk holding it rather than something physical). The main thing to watch when taking it apart to clean is that the scroll wheel has a little spring that keeps it popping up that can fall out easily as you take it apart (so do it over an empty table or box or something) and makes it a little tricky to get back together the first time or two...
