I know this will probably set off a little thunderstorm among all her fans, but I have a couple of issues with Sasha Grey:

(1) Wouldn't just a little bit of sun make this girl a whole lot sexier? She's a pretty girl, but her complexion is that of Morticia Adams.

(2) Will this girl ever appear in a scene that doesn't turn my stomach. I just rented "Fuck Slaves." I didn't know the premise of the movie. I was pretty much renting it to see Sasha. Anyway, she drank something that squirted out of another girl's butt. She also licked a guy's butt and licked ejaculate off a floor. If she's trying to be the poster child for extreme and bizarre sex, then that's cool I suppose. But, where does it end? What won't she eat, for instance?

I know she has her fans and none of them should take this as a personal affront. I just don't find these two things very sexy about Sasha Grey. Consequently, when I hear talk about her being the next "it girl," I wonder what the world is coming to.

It's not what it's coming to, it's where we're going. Hell in a hand basket, baby. You know it, I know it...the families of those poor girls in Amish Country, Pennsylvania know it.

If you're looking for a tame Sasha scene, however, look to Hustler's Barely Legal 62. Vanilla as can be and I can see why Sasha is so well-liked.

I heard that Sasha is holding off on tanning as she needs to "save" something for a later phase of her career. Pale girls who keep that "tanning" card up their sleeve can ask for a lot more money when they surrender their "on camera" tanning cherry for the first time. You know how porn producers are, with their niches.

I dunno, but that was goddam beautiful!!
Does the "cleaner, kinder, gentler" porn aspect coming from this Midtown character surprise anyone? Hey, I'm all for "No Holes Barred"!! It's their orafices, let'em do what they want with them. If you want to see the tame stuff, sacrafice yourself and/or loved ones for the cause. It's clearly her sexuality at stake and/or being filmed, just like all those who scream "IR dodger", the girls are free to use, abuse & get slammed in anyway they deem profitable...or just plain fun!!

Oh yeah, I agree with CJ!! We're all going to hell in a handbasket. I'm waiting to see some Amish porn, too! Remember, they bring their own horse (w/ cart) to the set...just think of the possibilities!!

I saw a girl at the mall wearing a shirt that said "Pale is the new tan." and I thought "Cool! After all these years I can be in style!" Maybe Sasha and Charlotte feel the same way.

Besides, tanning is not very good for the health of your skin.

There is plenty of room for pale people in porn.

Well Sasha being so extreme is exactly the reason why fans like me Like her, so I suggest not watching her scenes if you can't stomach em? Just like I don't watch implanted, condom only vanilla scenes....but I don't go around bashing girls who do them.

I just think the line needs to be drawn somewhere. If I had a sister or a daughter who went into porn, I would be concerned about the harm others might do to her. But, if I had a sister or a daughter who went into the kind of porn Sasha Grey is doing, my concern would be for the harm she is doing to herself.

A lot is talked about regarding the government's efforts to crack down on porn. But, it's not the government people in porn have to fear so much as the extremes to which this industry is headed. Aside from alienating a lot of fans of beautiful women, this kind of stuff is just giving lawmakers fuel to set fire to the entire industry.

I'm saying this not to come across as moralistic. The slapping, the simulated bondage/torture scenes, the degradation, the extremeness of a lot of today's porn is just way too out there to be acceptable under even a fairly liberal community standard. It appears as though much of today's porn is entirely too influenced by men who hate women. I feel sorry for the women (like Sasha) who are buying into that hate. And, I feel sorry for the industry as a whole that will ultimately pay the price.

Im not a big fan of those that try and abuse the girls into doing more extreme stuff but it also works the other way.

you're right the line must be drawn somewhere and it can only be drawn by the girl who is making the movies if you don't like where that has taken them just move on to another girl.

Ever wondered a girl might just be into extreme acts herself? I mean there isn't much difference between a male and a female mind, nor it's capabilities. If guys can like this sort of stuff, then there's ought to be some girls who do as well, right?
So in other words you're ok with violence and gun culture in the America, where owning and using a gun is widely cherished in movies and TV, and where kids walk into their schools and start shooting up people on a fairly regular basis. I for one, would rather stop that from being watch, then any sort of porn which is being shot with the permission of ALL individual involved, who are also paid handsomely for it. But hey, that's just me talking.
Long live the NRA!!

Sasha belongs to the night. Thus is she pale.

I'm no particular fan of rough or degrading sex (on screen anyway) but no one is forcing Sasha to do these scenes. In fact, she has made clear on this board that she would like to go further than she can; that the limits she is forced to operate in, both legal and practical, are ones she would like to go beyond.
She is not "buying in to hate", she is making an exploration of herself.

Everybody's sexuality has it's dark corners. You can hide from those corners if you want, but if you do you will find, in the end, that the monsters they hide reach out to drag you in. Better, healthier to do what Sasha does and not be afraid to shine a light into those corners and see what crouches there.

And, though there are doubtless some misogynists in porn, the idea that Jake Malone and Manuel Ferrara can be counted among them is, frankly, laughable. Both men clearly love and respect women. That doesn't stop them (quite the reverse indeed) from playing out roles and situations that allow some illumination into those darker corners of the vast mansion of human sexual experience, into the heart of the terrible beauty of human desire.

I never advocated violence or guns. Where are you getting that from? I find violence abhorrent, regardless of whether it's delivered with a bullet or the smack of a hand. Furthermore, I am opposed to depictions of violence which - I strongly believe - only serve to plant the seeds that such behavior is acceptable.
I think it's really interesting that you used the word "monsters." Yes, there are "monsters" among us, as Mark Foley has recently shown us. I'm not one of them. Are you?

Sounds to me as if the original poster has no sense of adventure. As a few have already noted, "vanilla sex or no sex" comes to mind after each diatribe.
Just like the ying & yang...good & bad, etc. There should be a balance in life. There should be no world clean of "sin" and anything less would be absolutely BORING! To say that "any type of violence is unacceptable" is just vanilla, when in fact violence is often the only answer to a stubborn problem, IMO.

By "vanilla sex," I assume you are referring to sex between an attractive man and woman in which both appear to be enjoying themselves. By "adventure," it appears you are referring to the kind of sex where a leashed woman is dragged around on her hands and knees, slapped across the face with shocking force and then sodomized. I agree that such sex is "adventurous" in that - in the real world - it is likely to see the attacker put in prison.

With regard to the female actor's consent or non-consent to such a scene, I could care less. This is not about the standard to which she holds herself, but about the standard to which a society holds itself. This recent fascination in porn with (1) violence towards women, (2) degradation of women, (3) simulations of bondage/torture/rape of women is at best ill intentioned and at worst the product of criminal intent.

Get off on it while you can, if this is the junk you're into, because it won't last for long. Whether it's the Feds who crack down or a pack of lawyers in this very litigious nation of ours, porn producers and maybe even porn viewers will eventually be criminally or civilly held accountable. When that day comes though, you had better have a better defense than "where is your sense of adventure?"

Well, Midtown ... two young women who have willingly participated in quite a bit of extreme fare -- Lorelei Lee and Adrianna Nicole – will be interviewed on ADT's [invalid URL removed]PornStar Podcasts, as of sometime tomrorow ... their files will be up and ready to download or listen to.

All I can tell you from my own life is that it was always the woman who wanted to ramp up the slope to the "dark side."

Apparently, although Sasha can speak for herself, some of her early experiences were rough sex, so that's what appeals to her. I think it should always be appreciated in context.

Yes, but Skronk, this fellow seems to think that the basis of society sees pervs & porn completely like him. There is no context, or contrast, as it's only one-sided with him, and his 'peers' apparently as well.

He acts as though:

  • Viewer sees Donkey Punch (or Swirlies)

  • Viewer goes on date, which leads to extracurricular dating acivities at either party's abode (or a cheap hotel)

  • Viewer gets lucky, but then starts dunking his female counterpart's head in the toilet

  • The 'assaulted' files charges, and now Mr. Swirly is facing sexual assault conviction because he didn't realize what he viewed wasn't 'the real thing'. Rather, that it might be an 'OK' thing to act out in real life.

Ergo, everyone who watches this type of thing can't seperate reality from sick fantasy...and they make the entire industry look bad as a whole. I highly disagree. If the jackass lawyers can't see beyond that (that one bad apple ruins the cart), then he/she should be disbarred for alleging that anyone who watches porn are all bound to intiate such acts based on what they viewed.

Personally, this character has watched too many episodes of Law & Order.

I'm not trying to "call anyone out." Probably about 10% of all the porn out there is what I would call depraved garbage. But, that 10% is going to cost the industry as a whole a disproportionate amount, both in terms of federal regulation and lawsuits. Nothing happens without consequence. For instance, the whole 2257 record keeping requirement issue sprung out of the porn industry's fairly recent fascination with teenagers. My point here is that a handful of porn producers are, whether they realize it or not, giving lawmakers and courts ample reason to come after them and even their audiences. Is it really worth the time and trouble, all so that Rob Black can sell defecation and gang-rape oriented films?

I don't disagree with you. But I may disagree with you about what constitutes that 10%. And so would many different juries and prosecutors. Sometimes, I wish the US could just be more European in matters of "morality" and such.

fair enough.

But, it's not. We have two new Bush appointed Supreme Court Justices and - if 86 year old John Paul Stevens can't hold out - possibly a third before 2009. That court will eventually leave its footprint on the porn industry. It just seems as though some porn producers want to hasten that outcome.
That's a big part of it. I don't find these more "extreme" scenes to be in any way sexy. And yes, like Jackass, they are stupid. But, furthermore, I find such scenes to be offensive and even dangerous. Porn, like the Catholic Church, seems to be following a small minority of bad eggs down a really tragic path.

Sometimes, in my more pollyannaish moments, I allow myself to believe that porn does actually advance the human race a tiny fraction by demonstrating to some people of perhaps limited world experience that there are others in the world who have sexual desires profoundly different from their own yet still valid, still natural, still, indeed, ordinary, still as legitimate and as valuable as their own.

Then I see comments like those of Midtown and I realise that I am fooling myself. The black mists close about me and I sink back into the slough of despond.

After reading the first statement I was somewhat bothered; now I am officially pissed! Midtown: I usually don’t judge people, especially folks I don’t know. So I will assume (make an ass of you and me) that you are the type of “man” who likes to watch women get fucked on camera and all they are there for is your masturbatory pleasure, they are a detached digital image to you, with no personality and no sense of self. However…. the minute you see this image perform an act you disagree with you automatically defend them and the way they are being treated. If you really gave a leprechaun’s pot of gold you would be more concerned about the real issues that go on in this business; not about the sexual desires some of us consenting adults have and explore on camera. Have you ever heard of BDSM? Would you be the first to say, “It’s wrong, it’s just hurting women”? Obviously you don’t know anything about human sexuality, or the human condition for that matter. Did you know that men also enjoy being treated like “Fuck Slaves”! Why would you even buy a movie titled this if you couldn’t endure it’s meaning…and don’t say, “titles never match the movie!” Some men actually visit a professional dominatrix as a form of therapy. The SM community is large and will continue to grow as the world evolves. Porn is not headed down an evil immoral path! For fuck sakes, IT’S PORN!!! What about those of us who are into the “darker side” of porn?! We will if we please continue to perform this beautiful art we love: Bondage, Discipline, Sadomasochism!!! The problem is not women who partake in these performances; it is the girls who feel the need to take vicodin just to fuck. It is not the women who partake in these performances, it is the girls who are manipulated by directors to do a “little” anal even though that was not the scheduled sex act. It is not the women who partake in these scenes; it is those girls who do it for the quick cash disregarding the long-term affects of this business. Obviously you have not read anything that I have posted on ADT or know anything about me as free-minded liberal ever-evolving feminist. Please see the interview I did for the Fanzine. Obviously you are (as Peter Seller’s put it) “living in a society of mediocrity”. You are a feeble-minded un-philosophical cell. And if you had a daughter that was considering doing porn I would not be concerned about what she is actually doing, but that her health and psyche are intact, and that she will be well prepared for all of the struggles she may face. My good friend, if you feel this strongly about “bizarre” sex acts then you should be lobbying against politicians that go on “business” trips to get “yum yum” from five year old children while their wives are at home taking care of their offspring (yes this does happen). If you want to talk about torture point your fingers at the bible---hand in hand with religion they have been the backbone of hypocritical world leaders since Christianity has been invented. The government doesn’t want people seeing this “bizarre” porn not because it’s pushing thresholds (which it really isn’t this stuff’s been around forever) but because it helps keep everyone in the social and economic brackets they were born in and will continue to be in. (not kidding folks) It’s just like the John Lennon controversy, only a whole community of people, which is even more intimidating. Open-minded people who want to explore different things have been criticized, challenged and persecuted since the beginning of time. Didn’t people think that John Waters was crazy, what about the French film Baise Moi which people consider insane because it depicts rape with real penetration? Our general society that feels it is perfectly acceptable to watch pornographic amounts of violence on film, Sam Peckinpah be damned---and the minute people begin exploring and shaping their sexuality for public consumption it is considered disgusting, and immoral. What about cream pie themed movies? You should be worried about those girls who have a higher risk of catching an std! What about gay porn, there still is not a set rule for HIV testing…they are human beings too. Fuck, I wrote this last night and instead I could have been asleep, dreaming of more “fucked up” shit !
Sasha Grey not only enjoys being a submissive but also a dominant. I AM NOT A VICTM DON’T MISTAKE ME FOR ONE. Maybe you should invest in a little Masters and Johnson or Kinsey literature.

I can't really speak to the critique of her performance.

However, I LOVE pale skin. Esp. pale skin with dark or black hair. The contrast is great.

Which is not to say I don't love ladies of all skin and hair colors.

Just that a pale skin and dark hair contrast (see Joanna Angel, amoung others) sets my heart racing.

So Sasha (and other porn stars) if you are listening -- stay away from the tanning beds and bronzer!

Pale skin is sexy!

Yes, but Jackass IS funny...and if you don't agree, that's fine! It's hitting tops at the box office. Much like your taste in 'limp' porn, it doesn't really matter what you think.

I hate to tell ya, but I think "the small minority" is exclusive to porn. I have a wild feeling that the Catholic Church far outdoes the phrase "small minority", just like all the other religious hypocrits.

Extremely well said, Sasha. The more scenes of yours I see and the more posts or yours I read here, the larger fan I become. Don't let the small-minded rile you up as you're only wasting your time. Even if he could understand your motives/reasons for doing what you do he wouldn't want to make the effort, his mind is already made up that he is right. There are some who do not recognize that someone else could possibly believe differently than they. As for me, it's an honor, a privilege, and a pleasure to get to watch you explore your own sexuality. Thank you for sharing.

Like I said, try using this kind of defense when the Feds come knocking. These extreme sexual acts that depict women in states of degradation and humiliation have come under increasing scrutiny by the Justice Department. They're more than willing to litigate the issue. My question remains, why necessitate that litigation in the first place? I appreciate the passion of your response, Sasha. But, you aren't the one who will be paying the legal fees. Nor, in a few years when your career is over, will you be the one saddled (pardon the pun) with whatever court interpretations of obscenity arise out of these scenes.

Basically, when Sasha is making such wonderful faces full of evident joy and pleasure while being "degraded," it ain't gonna fly as obscene or prosecutable. And I thought the Adrianna Nicole scene was one of the hottest scenes I've ever seen in my life.

Also, the way the DVDs are structured, with interviews and BTS clips and such where performers talk about how much they enjoy their scenes, you could almost defend "Fuck Slaves," if necessary, as educational, just like they did in the old days with Kroger Babb's nudie drive-in flicks.

Lastly, there's a hundred-times "worse" stuff on the INternet being downloaded into Christian-owned computers every minute. The justice department may or may not succeed in picking off a producer or two without the savvy or means to defend themselves, because there are a lot of dumbasses out there who will make it easy by not having paperwork or abusing talent, but after re-reading everything here, I'd say that Midtown is being strangely reactionary.

To view "Fuck Slaves," call it disgusting, and then complain, by the way, that Sasha is too pale besides, reminds me of the Woody Allen joke:

Two Jewish matrons go to the buffet. "Oy," sez one, "the brisket is lousy"

"I know, Gladys, I know," sez the other. "And the portions, they're so small!"

She's also not holding a gun to anyone's head and forcing them to film her doing these things, or to put the resulting movies on sale to the public. Trying to blame an 18 year old girl for whatever ramifications may ensue from marketing decisions made by the middle-aged men who employ her is rather silly.

And as for the complexion issue, it should be recalled that some people are just naturally fair-skinned and do not tan; complaining about their appearance is about as productive as complaining that someone like Jada Fire is "too dark."

Fine...let them. I'll assert my right to watch what thee fuck I want, as long as it's not illegal, inside the confines of my own home.

You ought to learn the laws of our constitution before you go threatening people with useless rubbish like "feds knocking on their front door". Whoopie!! Get your facts straight man, Alberto is waiting for his blowjob...have a blast.
