| RichardUK Member London 32 Posts 2/01 | Hi there, I'm thinking of purchasing some films after a gap of several months but wanted to clarify the current situation regarding importation of adult films to the UK. I've read the forums with interest following the changes in law brought about by David Blunkett and wanted to check that I've understood it all. It's okay to import films as long as they don't contain either pissing or fisting?? What about gay films? Are there any stricter laws regarding films containg gay male content? I've ordered through AdultDVDNow.com on many occasions and am really happy with their service. I am just worried that one day my luck will run out and customs will intercept one of their packages. I don't relish the thought of customs doing the heavy on me! Any feedback to put my mind at rest would really be appreciated. Thanks. [Link] |

The problem here is that the BBFC have a big problem with films that show 'consenting adults' receiving oral and even mild (staged) bondage. Buttmans Face Dance Obsession received over 7 minutes of cuts in order to attain an R18 (hardcore) certificate. The BBFC claim that HARM could come from the deep oral I strongly feel that the law is being broken here because they are censoring material upon an assumption (hence guilty until proven innocent). As far as I'm aware proof of harm must be established before material can be censored. Bottom line is, that if anyone imports the above dvd (when EA eventually release it), could under the new UK law be arrested. The UK may be more 'open' but the individuals' freedom could be violated much more easily, ultimately forcing the individual to PROVE their innocence. All this is very, very wrong. |

Others dvds were substituted and these included pissing, fisting etc. These were intercepted as all erodvd's are at present. I got what I presume was the usual customs notice saying they had been confiscated. I hope that is all I get. |

A mate of mine is a postman and he's always telling me how post can go missing - i'd hate it if my posty nicked my porn!!! If I do get any future problems I'll just have to try and immigrate to good old USA! |

Its a shame 5star don't do reasonable shipping rates! unless we order more than 3/4 at a time, but then if its confiscated its a big wallet whack! |
| snowden porn Member London 648 Posts 11/01 | Your right about the wallet getting whacked mate! The shipping is pricey i guess. Its a tough situation for us Brits cos we get charged loads for postage! I doubt I will switch companies cos Gamelink have been good, never got an order wrong, quick delivery, good website, average dvd prices. Fuck it - we could just go all out, order about 10 dvd's and get UPS shipment for 30 bucks! At least that way its we'd defenately get it delivered! What I did recently was go to Amsterdam and pick up a few dvd's from the shops over there and bring them back in the suitcase - no postage charges there! |

Shipping to international destinations has always been a challenge for any US retailer because of two main issues. First, adult materials are not always accepted by Customs in some countries, and secondly, most express carriers, such as UPS and DHL prohibit the shipment of pornographic materials. So why is it that some retailers can ship via DHL or other IE carriers? Some operation centers for some of the carriers choose to look the other way because of the revenue. However, as we have experienced ourselves, when those operation centers are audited, or when Customs stops a package, and word gets out that an account is shipping porn, the shipments stop for an undetermined amount of time. Most savy retailers today have a modest selection of shipping options to choose from. In addition, they also have a few accounts for express services, not just one. When one account is terminated or suspended, the retailer switches to another account, and so on. It is a constant challenge depending on the volume of shipments going out.
I noticed some retailers tend to think that Global Priority is trackable. In our 4 years of shipping using this method, I can honestly tell you, it is NOT trackable at all. The only honest trackable service is through an express courier such as FedEx, DHL, UPS, AE or USPS Express. In regards to the confiscation rate........ before the September 11 attacks on the US, all of our methods were running at 99.5% + delivery rate. After the attacks, some mail was lost, perhaps due to Anthrax contamination; closing down certain post offices. We replaced and re-shipped those shipments of course, but unfortunately, this impacted our success ratio. At this point, our delivery ratio is climbing back up to the high 99 percentile, which is very fortunate. During the last 4 years of shipping DVDs to the UK, there have always been trials and tribulations. I don't think there will ever be a fail safe method of transporting pornographic materials but if you are dealing with a reputable company, they should stand behind their service, and do everything possible to make sure you get your product safely.
