In direct contrast to a post a few down from this called UNDERAPPRECIATED STARLETS...this is about UNAPPRECIATIVE STARLETS and long overdue.

I know I should be used to it by now, but I am continuously amazed at how some of these spoiled gals don't even have the decency to at least say a thank-you now and then.

For example: for the last dozen years I have been instrumental in contacting and arranging to bring in nearly 300 DIFFERENT adult performers for the annual Tampa Show. Afterwards, how many do you think bothered to just say or e-mail a thank-you to me for bringing them in? At the MOST perhaps a half-dozen - and it is always people I knew well already. The same goes for the XRCO which I took over about 4 years ago - did ANY of the winners EVER take a moment for a thank-you phone call or e-mail? Or any of the people I arranged to be hosts for the shows? NOPE. And I bet that there are a lot of others out there who, due to firsthand experiences, feel the same as I.

I'm not complaining, but geeze - doesn't anyone in the biz any more have any manners or common decency? I (and others) don't do this and expect anything in return...but a thank-you now and then would at least almost make it worth the effort.

Do you get, like, a paycheck out of your endeavors? Would that exist if you didn't have starlets to use as a way to draw crowds? Or is it a hobby-type thing?

You think there is much, if any, profit after paying for and flying in over 50 stars and putting them up for 5 days at the same hotel with all related expenses? It isn't much more than a break-even thing at that if that much - most years. And no, I am not the promoter, but I am involved with choosing who comes to this invitational event every year and contacting them, making arrangements, etc. NightMoves is the one who pays for them up front and ticket sales and appearances help offset the costs. And of those more than 50 stars this year only ONE took the time to at least shoot me an e-mail saying thanks and that she had a blast.

Forgive me if I am wrong, but I don’t think Dirty Bob is even concerned about the money issue. I think he is just suggesting some common courtesy would be nice.

I was having a similar conversation tonight with a porn performer. It seems a lot of the newer girls take a great deal for granted with this industry.

Some of the performers who are grateful for an interview, a blurb in a magazine, or a simple review is the star, legitimate stars, who were here when it wasn’t so easy in porn.

Girls like Belladonna, Jewel De’Nyle, Kylie Ireland, Gen Pad ova, Taylor Wane etc. These girls have been in the business for more then five years and they know how hard it can be. It’s not all Gucci bags, SUV’s and Vivid Contracts.

A simple thank you goes a long way. With each review column I do I have a handful of stars that thank me each and every time and trust me that goes a LONG WAY!

I know what you mean. Every now and then I get a thank you from a star or director for my reviewing a movie they're in. I have no clue how many actually do read my ramblings, but it shows plenty of class to drop a line just to say something like thanks for taking the time to check me out, glad you liked the scene, sorry you didn't like it, whatever. If they care enough to do that, I'll often shoot them an e-mail back asking what their favorite scenes or movies are to try to check them out at their best. If they care enough to drop a little guy like me a line, then they seem like a good person to try to see more of.

Would you also be the one who booked Anjelica "with a 'j' "?

The year that I went before and you were actually in Tampa, I do remember thanking you. This year, I instead thanked the staff people that were actually there - and while I do realize that you're the intial contact for the show, often it's just more likely that girls who attend the event are going to give their thank-yous on the last night to the people who happen to be right in front of them.

As for the awards, I don't even email AVN after the awards shows. If Evil Angel wins an award at an award show, the person accepting the award tries their hardest while they're at the microphone to thank the organization who puts on the awards. Thanking an individual, in my opinion, would feel like I was saying thank you for honoring something which didn't actually deserve to be honored.

It seems to me that, if you're looking for someone to thank you for the work that you do, it should be NightMoves, not the girls. NightMoves is who you are working for.

The girls are working too. They shouldn't be giving thank you's, they too should be getting them from NightMoves. Without the girls, there is no Tampa show.

In terms of how Bill explained it, however, I guess I too, would be shit-out-of-luck without the girls. Tit for tat, I suppose.

Tricia:

I never singled you - or anyone - out specifically.

This year there were quite a few girls who wished to attend who were "borderline name performers" who really wanted to go who I wouldn't ordinarily invite as their name recognition with fans (and/or newness in the biz) wasn't sufficient to warrant their inclusion. Some pleaded and begged and, being a sucker for a pretty face, I caved just so they could attend. A lot of these gals made daily calls to me to see if I could get them in and a lot of time and expense was used to include them. Since there are a lot of new performers whom I do not know personally, I have to take a chance on their word that they will not only not be "problem people" once there, but also that they will be in that plane with the other stars and not FLAKE or be a no-show or no call (as 3 good name performers did to us this year - see tampashow.com - click on celebrity line-up to see who flaked but that is another story...). And then, usually the moment I give them a final YES...that is when any communication ends. Common courtesy in this biz simply doesn't exist. Fifteen years ago it did - not today.

Anybody who asks somebody to do something for them and that costs them a buck should say thank you, that's just common decency. Sadly, there seems to be less and less common decency in the world...

Okay, Dirty Bob. I know you put a lot of work into the XRCOs. If I ever meet you, I owe you a lap dance for all the work you've put in since I can't make the show and contribute by buying drinks and stuff. Happy now????

What's the matter with you people? How can you all be so callous and cold? Isn't it clear that Dirty Bob is in dire need of a "thank you?"

Well I, for one, am not going to turn a deaf ear to a Man In Need! I have no clue what a "Tampa Show" is but I'm sure that Dirty Bob, like Michael Brown, did a heckuva job doing whatever it was he did there. Or does there. Or will do there. Whichever applies.

Thank you, Dirty Bob! From the bottem of my heart! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

C'mon folks, I could personally care less about getting a thank you - the idea is that the industry is getting so jaded that, as Devinn says above, it is unfortunate that common decency and manners isn't common. And for the record, Devinn has excellent manners and was one of the people who did take a moment to say thanks!

Bullshit! You just want the lap dances! And yes, Devinn is easily one of the nicest people one could hope to meet in the industry. It's one thing I have to give almost all of the past and current Wicked girls credit for, they've all shown plenty of class as well as plenty of professionalism.

the idea that night moves isn't making mad cash off this is silly.
They sell adds to the people that come to the show all year. The tables at the show are stupid expensive, cant remember how much but I hooked up with a couple last year and they were telling me they got soaked on this awards thing, but they did win a night moves award.
also they charge the places we appear at (free) an insane amount of money for the caravan of stars to come, the club then charges $50 at the door to patrons.
poor bob
if you don't get paid what is your motivation for doing it
I never said thank you cause it was a waste of time.

when girls do signings they get airfare and an appearance fee, cause we don't chose to fly places cake on make up and get asked how we clean our asses 100 times. We go cause they pay us to in hopes of generating traffic to their buisness.

There is nothing wrong with going to nightmoves if you want to, but they are not doing you a favor by having you, you are doing them a favor by appearing.

The people who book people to sign at AVN pay a fuck of a lot of money to have the girls there with just the hotel and they still get an appearance fee. and people are actually excited to go to stay at the venetian (assuming you don't work for extreme) not the shitty ass hotel in Florida.

Wow.

Your elequent letter certainly sums up why you will never be invited back to this invitational event. OK, one of the reasons anyway.

And your comment: "I never said thank you cause it was a waste of time." certainly solidifies my position about manners in the industry - although I would guess that was not your original intent.

Why you compare a trade show to an awards show mystifies me.

And golly - if Tampa had the same calibre of hotels that Vegas has, then I suppose that you would have to find something else to complain about. Get real, woman!

Last, I'm so glad that you are an expert at this and know all the financial arrangements. Kami, some years they make money on it - never a lot! - and some years they lose money on the show. And the money the clubs charge people to get in to see you and the 50 or so other stars goes in their pocket, not Nightmoves. And you say "The tables at the show are stupid expensive". Uh, well...are you thinking of AVN's tables? You must be 'cause the Tampa Show doesn't sell by the table (unless someone buys enough individual tickets to fill a table) and the tickets are $50. I guess that is "stupid expensive" to see 50 or more stars...a dollar a star.

Actually, I partied at the Hard Rock Hotel with Jenna Haze. FABULOUS Hotel!!!!!!

I did enjoy hanging out at the event motel with some of the other girls, though... and since I'm just a princess and not a complete prima donna, I guess I can stay at a Best Western now and then. :)

I sat with a guy who bought a reserved table. I actually went, I know what was there.
This whole event builds the night moves brand, weather they show a profit on that day or not , the girls do radio appearances and car washes and things to get the night moves name in the media. This makes the advertising easier to sell. This event has built the magazine up. There are appearances and award shows at both Night Moves and AVN, that is where the parallel comes in.

And I was invited back just not by you.

I love how you build it up as an invite only event but practically beg people to go, you get some choice people who turn up but that does not make up the majority.

I am totally not a prima donna, I have stayed in far worse hotels and not bitched, In fact i never bitched about the hotel, or Tracy or Paul, The point to that is Your on about the costs involved and I am saying they don't compare to what others spend.

Kami, you are living is a dream world. I'm sure as hell not gonna get in an argument about what someone in a bar
told you is or is not true about the cost of tickets WHICH HAVE THE PRICE PRINTED ON THEM! As for reserved seats I am sure that they did have a few tables reserved for some of their friends and advertisers - so what? In actuality, if they were really big advertisers I betcha their tickets were COMPED. So, if someone sitting at a table was trying to impress you with dollar anounts, take that as you may and for whatever reason they may have had...but it isn't true. And, uh, why were you hanging out with a guy as opposed to being with the other performers?

And you say BEGGING for talent to come? Uh huh. I cut it off at 30 performers and that was in late summer. We have no problem getting stars. Anything after the cut-off date would be big name performers who ask to be included. Some get in, some don't. That is why we ended up with around 50 which is WAY too many but hard to turn down some people.

And you say you never complained about it? Was that a ghost poster in your previous message saying things like "not the shitty ass hotel in Florida." and other things...?

And not to callous, but I don't recall your name coming up for this past year's invitations for the event. Unless it was by someone trying to impress you - perhaps the person at that table (heh heh)...?

Hi Kami,
Just wanted to touch base with you to see if you are interested in coming back to Tampa again.
The dates are Oct. 5-10 and we would love to have you back.

Go to www.nmaea.com to get the complete schedule.
If you want to come back please go to www.nmaea.com/stras.html , download the paperwork, fill it out and get it back to me at your earliest convenience.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Tracy Allen
NightMoves Magazine

I did complain in this thread, because your being a bawl baby. you ask people if they wanna go, if they say yes then they take over and book everything and faxes the contracts, recieve the contracts. and deal with getting us paired up in rooms and checked in and shuttled back and forth to the events. The burden of this even is not on you at all, if you had said you felt the actual organizers should be thanked I would agree, but I did thank them when I was there, as did most people, but you wouldn't know that cause you were not there

I would love to hear of one person you've turned down.

I was walking the floor talking to people because they paid an assload of money to meet us and the girls mostly stick together just as you said in the vip area and never talk to them. He was an advertiser, as I mentioned he won an award. there are names on the table bob.

The bottom line is, and this is the comment I should have made in the first place, this is a professional event, not a private party Bob is throwing for friends. Etiquette does not demand thank-you notes for business deals. That's for personal interactions.

Alternatively, if you think it would be normal for everyone to thank you, and no one has, consider the possibility that it's not a strange unanimous defect that everyone else has, but maybe the common thread there is you.

Kami - didn't mean at all to imply that you're a prima donna sweetie. I know better.

I was just talking in generalities, and more making fun of myself. I wasn't kidding when I say that I can be a princess.

I rented a car for myself, my roadie and the people I was taking care of down there because I don't do the group shuttle thing.

Also, the motel I stayed at in 2000 was pretty darn bad. The Best Western this year was definitely an improvement, and other than being a motel and not an actual hotel, wasn't that bad.
I have to admit though, I did get a little penis envy over the Digital Playground girls who made the smart decision to stay at the Marriott, and the Jules Jordan Video girl (Jenna Haze) who got to stay at the Hard Rock.

Kami - while I understand almost all of your points, and agree with the vast majority of them, I also believe that the girls who do choose to go do so because they are also promoting their own websites or things of that nature.

I was a tiny bit more laid-back this year than I should have been. I've already talked to Tracy about how for next year, if I don't go to Barcelona (which I probably will), I will set up more radio appearances for whoever I bring down on behalf of Evil Angel, and more appearances on national shows. Sometimes these trips are what you make of them.

My roadie and I had an AMAZING time, but it's because we're that kind of people. He's a blast, and we could have fun on a 10-hour road trip, or just hanging out pretty much anywhere together and/or with a bunch of friends.
I'll also admit that I spent a little chunk of change to make this trip be more fun for me... I brought a roadie, who is one of my good friends; I rented a car for the 5 days there; I went out to eat at decent restaurants to break things up, and often took one or more of the other performers with me so that they could break the monotony also.

Amazing, Kami. I brought you in the first year when you accepted the invitation. You never got back with me after that and I assumed that everything was fine. We have never met in person - and now I am the reason you didn't go lto the show last month? Until you expanded this and altered the original concept of the thread I never even remotely felt any animosity towards you and had no reason to feel you had any problem. Also, I never once singled you out until you started trash-talking. What gives?

Please explain.

thank you Tricia, your 100% right about deciding to have a good time, you can have fun with all the people there if you decide to, some people are mopey and some enjoy life! Good on you for enjoying life!

Bob no animosity, just offering a real counterpoint to you inflating your role in this and playing the martyr. We have bickered many times in chat, and even in threads. it amazes me that your acting surprised , I don't pretend I like people when I don't.

Casual fans will read this thread you posted about the rudeness of porn chicks, (which if you felt was an issue makes more sense to take up with porn chicks not fans),and throw you a pity party, when your real motivation seems to be you going hey every one look at me I'm relevant, when honestly you come off as creepy and lecherous to the girls you recruit. Granted that is my opinion I'm sure you have your fans as well. But you always make this and xrco about you and your amazing web design and people skills.

you feel your thread is long over due and I feel like I have a right to offer my point of view (and some facts you flat out left out and mocked me over)

WOW.

First, what amazing web design skills are you speaking about? I don't have the slightest idea what you are talking about...

And I'm sorry that as you say that it is your opinion that I am creepy and lecherous to girls I recruit for the show but, uhh...if it is YOUR opinion then how can I be creepy and lecherous to THEM? And, uhh...I am here in Ohio, remember - I'm not even near them and mostly communicate with them via e-mails. If you can produce even one word from me that can be considered lecherous or creepy I'd love to see it.

Ya know I go to thinking about this and to a degree he may not expect Dirty Bob has a point.

I have seen it over and over in this biz mostly at the trade shows. That is the contempt that many of the performers have for their fans.

I once witnessed this behaviour coming from a girl I had ushered into the biz who had recently gotten a contract offer and was high on the list of A talent. She made it abvious to a fan at the then CES show that she was put off by his asking her for an autograph while she was walking the floor.

I took her aside and dressed her ass down but good.

I asked her just what the fuck that was all about,I told her look you arent anything special, you fuck for money that in and of itself doesn't merit any respect or special treatment. I reminded her that that guy and hundreds like him paid her bills for her and that they could turn on her as easily as admire her.

This was one tough bitch too and I expected a fight...but she got misty and said that I was right and that she had never looked at it that way and she made a vow that from that day forward she would never act like that to a fan again, and as far as I know...she hasn't

So to the degree that Dirty bob or me or anyone else in the biz who make a living in the biz wants a thank you I say do it if you like but the guys that DESERVE a thank you are the ones spending their hard earned cash on you.

That's a nice attempt at peacemaking and being fan-friendly or whatever, and well-meant I'm sure. But as a fan, I can honestly say I don't think we need to be thanked for buying DVDs and beating off. Even if I did, I wouldn't start an indignant thread to declare porn performers spoiled and lacking in decency.

Come to think of it, I definitely wouldn't do that because my experience at AEE and elsewhere has been that the performers and directors I've been lucky enough to have any kind of conversation with have been gracious and appreciative of my support or input or whatever. I'll even name names (not a complete list, just who I remember specifically right now): Alicia Rhodes, Brandon Iron, Stormy Daniels, Mason, Manuel Ferrara, Katsumi, Shy Love, Belladonna, John Stagliano, Missy Monroe, Julie Night, Sativa Rose, Claire James, Devinn Lane, Brianna Blaze, Lucy Thai, Kat, Christy Canyon. Definitely Kami. And who the fuck am I? Nobody.

In other words, I disagree with the premise of this thread both in principle and simply as a matter of accuracy. I can honestly say that just about every performer I've met has treated me with respect and good manners.

Maybe that's because it's a two-way street.
