Wodgers Member 414 Posts 7/04	Posted - Sep 13 2004 : 1:26PM Alpha Blue is releasing four 70's classics in their unedited version : the first four films from this list I already have Story Of Joanna on dvd (the Excalibur version) and don't know if the fully uncut AB release will include more : the Excalibur disc included the gay blowjob scene between Jamie Gillis and (Zebedy Colt?), so I was assuming that it was the uncut version. I second your grrr I think I'll order the "Long Jean Silver", "Anyone But My Husband" and "Devil Inside Her" discs, but I'll stay away from "..Joanna". [Link]

The menu is funny, as soon as it pops up you hear a female voice say "Hi, I'm handicapped and horny!". Joey silvera fucks Jean and another girl, and then jerks off to Jeans stump and drops a load. She fucks girls with her stump and even fucks a guy in the ass with it too, freaky shit. It had some trailers. One of them had watersports and a few others had bondage during hardcore sex scenes. If you go to their site they have quite a few dvd's that are supposed to have bondage with sex, and judging from the trailers I saw I believe them. I don't think companies should be scared at all to release these movies. They were shot more than 20-25 years ago. Do people really think law enforcement will go after someone for something that was made that long ago, and that was even shown in theatres back then? The studios with the least amount of balls on them are studios like VCA, I-candy and the like. Afraid to release 25 year old movies uncut. I could understand if these were made recently, but this business of editing films that are over 25 years old is just plain ridiculous. [Link]

I'd love to have uncut versions of all the classics but I can't blame the companies for being careful. Especially VCA since Russ Hampshire, the former owner of VCA, did some jail time in the past. sdc Member 236 Posts 4/03	Posted - Oct 4 2004 : 7:39AM My copy of The Story Of Joanna arrived this morning but, as I've never seen it before, I may or may not be able to identify whether this edition is cut. I've already had a quick look at the disk and can confirm that it is widescreen but is littered with scratches and artifacts. This is quite disappointing because the print itself has good colours and is actually very detailed. I think that, unless someone is prepared to invest a lot of time and money in remastering these titles, this is going to be the price we pay to have Golden Age movies in their correct aspect ratios. I've been quite vocal in criticizing other studios for using pan & scan masters for their DVD's so feel quite sympathetic to Alpha Blue Archives on this matter. They are all collections of films made by the Avon Theater in Times Square. The first one is The Avon Dynasty: 1980's which is a six disc set. The films in the collection are Angel in Distress, Bizarre Styles, Daughters of Discipline 2, Den of Dominance, Dr. Bizarro, Forgive Me I Have Sinned, House of Sin, Kneel Before Me, Mistress Electra, Oriental Techniques of Pain and Pleasure, Pain Mania, Prisoner of Pleasure, Savage Sadists, Story of Prunella, Tales fo the Bizarre, Taming of Rebecca and Wicked Schoolgirls. The second one is The Avon Dynasty: The Shaun Costello Collection, which is a five disc set. The films in the collection are Betrayed Teens, Cherry Hustlers, Daughters of Discipline, Dirty Susan, The Fire in Francesca, Forced Entry, Girl Scout Cookies, She's No Angel, Slave of Pleasure, Summer of Suzanne, A Taste of Bette, Travails of June, Two Lives of Jennifer, Venture into the Bizarre and Waterpower. Unfortunately they are both on the costly side with an MSRP of $149.95 each (although they do have an option to buy both for $199.99 but that's a big chunk of change to lay down at one time). [Link]

Laser's Edge is checking to see if their distributor can get them. I doubt they would all get single disc releases since the sets are only 5 and 6 discs in total, which means several films are on each disc. Since most of them run a little under an hour it looks like it's a smart way to do it though. [Link]

They were there about a month ago, but when I went to order them a week later, they were gone. I thought it might be a glitch but I've continued to check back and they're still not there. The first set, The Avon Dynasty: Shaun Costello Collection, has very disappointing A/V quality. Some of the titles in the set are so bad they are close to being unwatchable. The disc does have an extra title on it that isn't listed, The Dark Side of Danielle, which runs for around a half hour, is also in the set. The second set, The Avon Dynasty: 1980s, has much better A/V quality. There are only 17 titles in the set though, not 18 as the box claims. There are no titles missing from the back of the box from the set though as if you check the list they only list 17 titles. I haven't seen the third set, The Avon Dynasty: Joe Davian Collection, yet. I don't think they are listing it on their site yet, It's in their Spring print catalog though. [Link]
