I just uploaded something and the pic got all greyed out with 'adultdvdtalk.com' text printed on it... ???

If I remember correctly, it has something to do with anti-leeching stuff that Drew has implemented. He can do a much better job of explaining it.

That's what happens if the "I'm old enough to look at naked people" cookie is expired or not present. I do that so people don't hotlink to our images. The image is generated on the fly so it's easy to decrease the quality and watermark it. We don't have a hotlinking problem.
The cookie expires after 24 hours. So it must have timed out. There's some code throughout most of the site to prevent that from happening during a current session. I'm curious what page you saw the greyed-out image? Was it immediately after you uploaded the image on the upload.adultdvdtalk.com server?

Yes, it was. Since I'd never seen that before, I assumed you changed something. I then pasted the img code in the post's body and hit preview. That is where I saw welcoming screen instead of actual preview.
I am actually not sure why my cookie has expired. I was reading the thread, hit reply and then minimized FF to search for the pic on my hard drive. I returned to upload the image after maybe 10-15 minutes.

The cookie expiration was a coincidence. It just means you happened to click through our entrance page roughly 24 hours prior. It expires after 24 hours. We have no way to know the expiration date/time though so I try to set it as a session cookie too. There are a few places in the site that haven't been switched to handle the session version too so you'll occasionally see the watermarked version, though it's a very random/rare thing these days.
