When using some websites, such as radio stations, they give you a choice of streaming formats ie: Windows Media, real player, Quicktime, MP3 etc. or as in the case of one site Im listening to for Holiday music, there own in house streaming audio called Live365(Live365.com). I don't necessarily have a problem but a peculiarity since I found a way to activate the audio no matter what the format. But why do some formats, when using some computers, only activate their sound when another format is used first? I can actually see the format playing but there's just no sound.

from their help section

Log in to Live365, go to the Listening Settings page, change your selection in the MP3 Player section, and click Save Settings at the bottom of the page. We strongly recommend using Radio365, our stand-alone desktop player. You can use Radio365 to access every Live365 station without needing to visit the Live365 website. Using Radio365 will typically work for users that have problems with browser inconsitencies.

Note: if you choose Windows Media Player or Real Player, it will appear as a browser plugin, embedded in the Live365 Player Window, so you will not see these media players launch separately. If you would like to use the full version of either of these players, you will need to select "MP3 Player" as your player of choice. Your system will then launch its default MP3 player

I actually don't have to go to radio365 as the website I go to already has Live365 set up & ready to click. The format plays just fine. It's getting the sound to come up. Once I get the formats playing once, and go in and out of browsers, it comes up just fine on it's own. But let's say coming back from a re-boot for whatever reason I got to repeat the process of format searching depending on the particular computer I'm using. Thanks still Jamesn.

when Im on my own machine. But using a public library or a college computer as I often do most of the time, no,... as there are restrictions on what you can do to their machines and not do.
