Not in my experience. Of course it depends on what your definition of a super DVD/TV is.

Even an El Cheapo DVD player knocks the pants of VHS IMHO.

The difference between the better sub $100 DVD players and a good $500 brand name one is also very noticable. I was very surprised when I first checked it out myself.

A $500 DVD player and a $500 TV showing a mainstream movie where some care has been given to the DVD transfer, give a picture good enough to make any comparison with VHS meaningless.

Ok I had a feeling some VCRs may do it all the time while other may not. I knew it was VCR related if anything. But from the 2 or 3 VCRs I've tried it with, it's worked until you press record. The VCRs were fairly new maybe 3-5 years old.

I never even attempted hooking a DVD player up to a VCR until about a year ago cause I always assumed it wouldn't work. I actually wish I would of known a few years ago when I went out and bought an RF modulator for my old TV. Because I read in all the manauls and everybody said you had to buy an RF modulator cause a VCR wouldn't work.

I bet it works on most newer ones atleast if you ever need to give it a try. If not a RF modulator is only about $20 anyway.

But if you want to record to VHS you're gonna need a macro remover.

The all region player I picked up on the cheep has this function . If you put a disc in that you've been watching before the machine will give you the option to either continue from where you left off or to start from scratch . This is a great way to beat the junk at the start , too .
