Why do studios release such shitty products? If the sound is gone isn't there someway to recover? Aggravating to pay good money for something defective. People in the industry please sound off on this. No pun intended.

I've never come across this particular issue. I've had a couple where the aspect ratio is totally borked, but not this...

Actually I think that a lot of producers should star using separate mics and not only the one on the camera because that sound is really bad and ruins a lot of the experience.

Most of the time I run across it the soundtrack is OK but the voice audio is gone. ( YOu can hear intro music but none of the actors voices.) Sometimes though it's all gone. My most recent purchase of a bad audio dvd was Straight to the A 1. Very disappointing because 2 of my favorite girls ( Venus and Flick Shagwell) were in it. I guess the people who turn the vids down to watch would be please but not me.

By the way, something odd on this thread. I went to "my topics" and the folder was yellow rather than blue. I hadn't been to this thread in a while. This has happened on others as well when there were new posts that I hadn't read. Anybody else having this issue?

^ No, you're not. I've come across a DVD with a scene that had no sound at all. It was only one scene, but it pretty much killed that scene for me, even though it looked like it might have been a pretty good one if only I could hear it. One annoying thing about that one time was that one of those people who watch porn with the sound off had given it a weakly positive review, with no mention of the one scene that was silent. Because he probably had no idea that the audio in that scene was any different than any other scene he ever watches. He should have at least said somewhere in his reviews that he watches porn with the sound muted.
I have seen other scenes where I suspect that the audio was messed up, and they tried to salvage the visuals by accompanying the video with music. I mean, some directors use a lot of music as a deliberate choice, but I've seen movies with 5 or 6 scenes, and only one had music in the scene proper, so I suspect that the music was used in that one scene to cover up that the sound was messed up. And I can understand that, and I do think that music is better than completely silent.

I come across this from time to time and in pretty much every case the audio was actually there but the DVD player I played it on wouldn't play it. Sometimes it would be a musical background track playing but no live sounds/audio and sometimes it be no audio at all. Sometimes the BTS would have audio but no the feature. But if I play the same DVD in my other DVD player they all play just fine. So don't throw those DVDs out because when you upgrade or get another DVD player it'll probably play those DVDs with no problems.
The newer or more expensive DVD players tend to more cheaply made DVDs without problems than the older or less expensive ones. I have DVDs that always freeze when I play it on one of my players and I can play that same DVD on my other player with no problems.
