Guys is it possible for a virus to take over my computer and when I am searching in say "Tommy Bookmarks" that when I search for one thing I am redirected to another site that always has "search" in the middle of the url?

Sounds more like a browser hijacking or spy/adware than a virus.

I assume you have your curent A/V up to date and have ran it?

You can do a free online virus scan here

And you could try this too.

Flat out, there's no easy fix for a hijack.
The only easy way around an IE hijack is to use firefox, which I have't seen taken down by browser hijackers. You can get firefox here

Good luck!

I was using IE but switched to Opera. Ran the suggested program and it said I had no Cool stuff. If Opera a good system to use or do I need to use Firefox?

If you are comfortable with Opera it serves the same purpose as FireFox (FF). I just like FF better
