After thinking about it, I believe it may be better to restrict the nominations to discs or perhaps even better - features released in 2000. I say this because the field of selections is so large, there is apt to be no agreement at all when the nominations do come in. We are selecting five out of thousands! I will be very surprised if two people nominate even one of the same discs. This is especially true because the categories are very broad. We are not nominating "best girl/girl scene of 2000" - we are nominating "best overall dvd". There could be a special category for "Hall of Fame" disc or something of that nature which would be retro to all discs in the past. Snowman Edited by - snowman872 on Dec 30 2000 [Link]

HoustonDon Member Houston 561 Posts 11/99	Posted - Dec 30 2000 : 12:21PM Snowman, I think for the first awards, all dvd's should be considered that have been released until some set date: my choice for the cutoff date would be 12/31/00. Subsequent awards can be limited for the year following, etc. Why? Because this is the first year of the awards. A lot of great dvd's have been released in the last few years and to exclude them based solely on a timing issue seems flawed (to me). As far as not being able to agree on a "best" dvd or other category, when push comes to shove, most porn dvd's suck. Most are churned out in assembly line manner so that's not likely to impact the awards. How likely is it that, for example, any two reviewers think Ed Powers' dvd's are good enough to nominate/win? Extra's? Most of the time, we're lucky if a company puts a few old trailers and a sucky photogallery on a dvd. Interactive? Maybe a dozen have been released so far... All Sex? after you cut through the crummy ones (99%+), you are left with a short list. Feature Film? Let's be honest here, how many companies even make something they'd consider a passable "feature" film? Just a thought from the peanut gallery. I've seen probably a dozen that should earn "best" dvd, 4 or 5 worthy of "best" extra's, etc. I'm not known for being overly generous with my grading/reviewing and my votes will be at least as tough. (and not for sale-even for hookers, drugs, and money ) [Link]

For better of for worse, here's my nominee's. In a few categories I could've come up with a a dozen or more great dvd's. Some titles lost out for minor reasons and others made one grouping but not another simply because it allowed me to give a nod to more movies. Future awards shows will be easier because there won't be 3 years of releases competing against one another.
