I'd give a scene by scene breakdown of the performers but it's tough to figure out who was who, especially the male actors.
Video Quality - 8 out of 10 Anamorphic Wide Screen and typical Dorcel quality video. If anything the colour of the outdoor shots were a bit dull (cloudy day). The metal shop scenes (in the basement of a mansion?) with the furnace had a nice warm look.
Audio Quality - 7 out of 10 Everything sounds good. It's offered in 5.1 surround but I didn't notice it being utilized (I listened to the English track). The over-dubbing wasn't terrible but it would have been better had they offered a set of English subtitles.
Story - 6 out of 10 It's a typical fantasy porn storyline... a frigid wife (Melanie Coste) goes away to learn how to become a willing and skilled lover.
The story moves too quickly to truly get a feeling for the main character's emotions and the barriers to her seduction (much like this review). Dorcel did keep the sex scenes somewhat quick (but not too quick ) and that helped the story's pace.
What the movie needed was a better introduction to the characters and the crisis and more story telling in between scenes. This would have helped the intensity of the film but would have probably cost one sex scene to keep the movie's length down.
Acting - 7 out of 10 What there was of it was not very good so average for a porn film.
Sex - 8 out of 10 Typical Dorcel/Private fare (oral, vaginal, anal, dp, cum shot). I found the original girl-girl scene to be very well done (9 out of 10) and the best of the film... lots of proper foreplay.
Features - 7 out of 10 A couple of trailers and the Making Of (didn't watch it)
Summary I find this an average Marc Dorcel film but that's not a bad thing. Viewers that enjoy this type of film will not be disappointed at all. I just wish Marc could have built more heat into the story line to fully utilize the gorgeous cast assembled.
About the Reviewer I prefer feature films with a decent story, some acting, excessive beauty and seduction seduction seduction. I enjoy watching hot sex not marathons.
To satisfy my A.D.D. I would rather watch a short scene with properly aroused performers, foreplay and brief intercourse than some of the gonzo work out there.
20 to 30 minutes of relentless pounding of a poor woman's sore orifice in a smorgasbord of positions seems clinically routine.
For any scene to be considered great I do require it to have a decent money shot... I don't know why, I just do.

true... I'm going to have to try to make my way through the Dorcel films at the local video store and write them up. He makes pretty porn and at least tries to make the story erotic... as opposed to gonzo's "let's see how many we can stuff in here" attitude.

If you tell what titles are available to you, I can give some pointers. I have seen a ton of them, all the way back to the early 80s, when many of them depicted 'rape' (between inverted commas) scenes (as was the trend at the time).

Ermm... I am only (mostly) familiar with the original French titles.Not a bad choice. The first major part of Laure Sainclair fro VMD. And let's not forget a couple of former Euro Babes.
From the later period (say, from the mid '90s on), I would strongly recommend (don't worry, I won't make a habit of this) the following titles (in chronological order): - Citizen Shane - Le parfum de Mathilde - La princesse et la pute - La ruée vers Laure - L'indécente aux enfers - Les nuits de la présidente - L'empreinte du vice
There are many other good ones, but these I liked the most. Le désir dans la peau should in fact be in the above list. If I had to pick only one, I would pick Le parfum de Mathilde .

Some titles of John B Root are distributed by VMD, but he really is not a part of the VMD house style, as was originally created by Michel Ricaud, at all. Some of Root's work is more interesting than typical VMD stuff, sometimes Root's work is positively mediocre — and because of the prententions annoying.

A lot of the recent Dorcel vids are directed by Mike Foster. Most of their vids from 2002 forward have mostly condom scenes, but some don't. One that didn't was Paradise Sex Guadaloupe, which I think may have been done by Max Bellochio/Allesandro Del Mar at the same time (with same cast) as he was shooting a bunch of Private Tropicals.
Overall of nowhere near the same quality as the mid-nineties VMD product in terms of cast, settings, costuming, number of sex scenes (IMO).
Another annoying problem with the DVDs that my local store gets (distributor unknown), which look like they're original pressings, is that they appear to be improperly converted from PAL to NTSC, so parts of the DVD look like trying to watch a scrambled TV signal. VHS doesn't seem to have this problem, so I rent them.

Yes, John B.Root is the kind of guy who always want to be different, he wants his sex scenes to look like everyday's life and show realistic way of fucking in couples (check his movie called XYZ).
