The output of HD movies is very slow indeed. But then again I haven't updgraded myself yet so at this point it doesn't matter for me. I should be totally upgraded myself by March with a blu-ray/HD-DVD player and a full HDTV.

yeah and I know how easy it is to get your "porn fix" online from downloading and youporn crap
but I believe that by making more blu ray or HD DVD movies people will get back into buying pornos because you can't hack blu ray or HD DVD yet or no one wants to do it and It makes porn fun again by seeing it more clear and up close lol makes it a real big budget thing to see blu ray/HD porno lol there's always going to be gonzo but still seeing a vivid or digital playground movie in high def makes it more special
like dvd did 10 years ago

Can someone explain to me just WHAT is blu-ray? A simple explanation will do, I just don't understand what it really is. What's the difference?

It's one of two competing formats of high definition DVD. At this point, it appears that Blu-ray will win that competition.

The cost of replicating Blu-ray discs will need to be dramatically reduced, or the install base of Blu-ray players will need to be dramatically increased before we will see a large influx of Blu-ray porn on the market.
One of the advantages of HD DVD is that existing equipment can be upgraded so that it can be used to replicate HD DVD discs. That's not the case with Blu-ray. Replicators need to install completely new equipment for Blu-ray.
Given that some of the major mainstream studios prohibit the replication of porn in the facilities that are used to replicate their own product, installing Blu-ray equipment, solely for the replication of porn discs is a large, risky investment.

Agreed. Microsoft has pretty much acquiesced to Blu Ray. The industry needs to stay with exclusive online content a while longer. Hard storage is on its way out no matter what the medium. Satellite and cable contracts need to be expanded.

I've noticed a lot of studios are advertising that their standard-def stuff was shot in HD. So many of them were probably waiting for the format war to end before releasing the HD versions. Now that it's pretty much over, I imagine we'll Blu-ray releases ramping up in the next few months.
I also listened to Tricia Devereaux's podcast interview, and she said Evil Angel was going to go Blu-ray exclusive (for HD media) in '08. This was before the big Warner announcement.
I think it may still be a while before every big release comes out in DVD and Blu-ray simultaneously (I say big because I'm sure there are dozens of small-to-middling companies that don't even shoot Hi-def yet), because the general public still isn't buying hi-def movies at anywhere near the rate they get DVDs. But by the end of the year the big gonzo and feature companies should have their workflows and business partnerships settled down enough to make it worthwhile to throw everything (except maybe the boring compilations) onto Blu-ray.
