I spoke with a guy at NetDVDFlix just a few minutes ago. He said yes they were back in business but it will still be some time before full functionality. He said the password encryption system was still down and he said they will send emails to all customers with new passwords so they can access their accounts. Here's Hoping!
Unreal. Down for three months. Now back up with no on site explanation. I just joined Nymmedia, and now these guys show back up. They're gonna have to do a lot to convince me to stay with them.
It must be terrible though to have a thriving biz one min and then the next (I assume) through no fault of your own you are reduced to nothing. THEN you have to rebuild and get back all of your customers.
I just tried Netdvdflix emails, 3 of them, to be exact. No, no and no. Still not working. Let's keep each other informed if, when the site is fully functional. And what, if anything, is done to retain customers by the owner. Oh, and when it is up, if ever, if they fixed the rental queue, which never worked for anyone of us, apparently.
Okay let's do that, so we can inform each other of the latest, I tried to yesterday to send an email and also got it back. Has anyone contacted them recently since they have been back up to find out what's going on?
When they were completely down, they did return phone messages. Now I don't hear anything. I guess I'd feel a lot better about it if there had been honesty all the way through. It's uncanny that just a few days after their domain name expired, they at least have some functionality of the site. This probably indicates that there were business/ownership issues that went beyond technical problems.
I'm not suggesting that they owed the customers a complete explanation of their personal business, but we all received such a variety of explanations that things are suspect.
Yes, I'll stay with them mainly because I had such a good experience with them for such a long time. Still, they need to throw us a bone of some kind.
I also liked their selection and shipping was a breeze, although over time I got an increasing number of scratched discs.
My other experiences: NymMedia has a decent selection, but none of my favorite studios. They are expensive.
Ohguhl has a somewhat limited selection, but (surprisingly) a bunch of my favorites. They have only a 15-slot queue, but shipping has been timely. They are about the same price as Netdvdflix.
Hi everyone, I spoke with Jim from Netflix about 7:30 central time, he told me the site will be back hopefully this week. He also stated a mass email would go out to all members and that then you could sign in with the old password, but then you would have to change to an entirely different password. I am so grateful to him for his service and honesty. I live in TN and it's not easy to find a company that services our state. Stay with Jim, he needs our support now more than ever.
that's true, he was very nice each time I would have to talk with him. I wonder if he reads this page and has seen what the comments pertaining to netdvdflix.com.
I just stumbled by accident onto delivermale.com which seems to have a huge inventory of rental dvds and charges $19.99 for a 3 dvd out at once plan. Anyone have any experience with them?
Well, they are currently online. I went to my rental queue using my old user name & password. Same movies. Okay. Tried to rearrange them in the order I wanted. And....no, hell, no. The rental queue STILL does not work properly after 3 months to fix it. Incredible. Have gotten no email from them, either. Looks like SNAFU over there.
The funny thing is that a bunch of movies in my queue still have "long" and "medium" waits. You would think that there would be virtually no waits! LOL
NOOO not the rental queue problem again, that was so annoying, I could never arrange the list exactly as i wante dt see it, and then the movies i wanted to see would say "usually no wait" but they would be constantly skipped over! I would think so as well (after 3 months, that should have been taken care of). I know I had so many movies, I wonder if that was what it was, I was like a kid in a candy store, just clicking on anything that looked good and adding it to my list.
To Bobpowers1 The customer service number I was given when I WAS a subscriber is 469-964-5400. Its nice to know that they are back up and running. Has anyone recieved any dvds from them yet? They must have lost a tremendous amount of business. I would think that there should be little to no wait on most titles.
Well, earlier today, I could at least get on line and mess with varying degrees of success with my queue. Later, my password was rejected. My email and zip code were rejected, "can not find account"! Just now, I was only able to find the site. Clicking on almost anything brought up a message "The connection to Netdvdflix was unexpectedly terminated. Some date may have been transferred".
Wannna bet the site is inaccessible in a few hours?
Get out!! I just knew they would be up and running, and what ever happeend to the email to all their customers? that was supposed to be sent out? I knew that would never happen.
And now, the site is back up. But log in is impossible. Back to where we were several days ago. Tempted to phone the guy, but will wait a while. Maybe they are finally, after 3 plus months about to really go online.
In my email this morning, the following message...
"First, we would like to apologize for the delay in service and deeply appreciate your patience and understanding.
Without going into great detail, computer installers, upgrading our equipment, were responsible for creating enough havoc within our systems to make Chernobyl look like child's play. Thousands of man-hours have been invested in building new systems that are 110% secure for the protection of your privacy and personal information.
But enough Chit-Chat. We are all here for one thing, and one thing ONLY! So “WHERE'S THE BEEF”? Well, let us show you.
At this time, you may log into your account at https://www.netdvdflix.com/sign_in.asp?refer=account.asp with the password below, but please change it as soon as possible, and avoid prior password variations. Update billing, and shipping information and make sure you have plenty of selections in your rental queue, or call 469-964-5400 and we will be happy to personally assist you. Please do so at your earliest convenience to avoid further service delays.
Again, we want to thank you for your patience and support and feel free to contact us with specific questions or more personal service.
Sincerely Netdvdflix, Inc."
Yes, I can log on. Yes, I can go to my queue. No, it still does not work right.
So did you go in and do anything (i.e., update yoru records) I went in one time and I think the credit card on file has expired, i deleted my email whihc contains the password, so i cna't go back in, I emailed them last week they never responded, plus i think i'm going to cancel, i'm with nym media and they are pretty good.
I entered with the temporary password they emailed me last week and set my own password. I checked the personal info (credit card, address data, etc). That's it. A disc (a Falcom long-wait title no less) arrived in my mailbox today in the old familiar manila envelope.
Well that's good, i'm glad things are working for you, I didn't verify anything, and I havent' received anything from my queue which is fine. they have listed as having a movie that i never got around the time they went down, and i never got it, I got one out of my 2 rentals, so if they ever did send the 2nd one back in Jan. I'll never know.
They also charged my credit card the day they sent the first disc. While I don't expect to get something for nothing, they charged the card right before shutting down in January. It would seem that this is not right.
Also, they are now apparently showing up on a credit card statement as " DVD VIDEOS OF AMERICA". Don't know why. Don't care. After 3+ months, they simply pick up as if nothing happened. And I still can not get anything, 20+ DVDs on my list. But, they can charge me. May be time to ditch them.
well bleep have you checked your rental queue? at the top it should list if anything's been sent out? I guess you did ha? I'd call them to see what's going on. Plus they let me take advantage of the 15.00 off coupon code for your rentals, if you don't have it here's the link, just cut and paste to your browser, then email or call and ask jim can you take advantage of this:
I had problems getting movies as well. Only 4 in the first month of resumed service despite 27 in my queue with the "usually no wait" status. I emailed customer service, and they claim members are keeping the movies longer. It was also suggested that I add more movies to my queue. (I guess 100 movies in queue for a 3/out plan wasn't enough!) I didn't buy that, so I cancelled my membership. I've been with nymmedia since the shutdown, and there simply wasn't a reason to continue with netdvdflix for a second month. Nymmedia has a working queue ranking feature, shipping is fast, and I usually get something from my top 5 rankings on every shipment, instead of something 50 or lower.
i must agree wtih you a2williams, i could see no reason for ocntinuing on with nextdvdflix, for one their selection is old and outdated, then the queing system is out of whack, then they were charging me for 3 out when they were sending me 2 out at at ime, i thougth this is it and i cancelled, i was still with nym media when they resurfaced and i gave them the benefit of the doubt, but i was never satisfied with the selections netdvdflix sent, then they would send me stuff i'd already rented before their system went down, goodbye and good riddens netdvdflix, nymmedia is the best out there!!
As another alternative, we just launched our gay DVD rental site, maleboxdvd.com which features about 4,000 gay titles. We're also in the process of getting distribution on both coasts and it should be ready soon.
that's great i have to check it out, when will the gay site be up and running coolasafanman? i replied to your message prior to seeing your post on this thread, can you please email me, i need to speak to someone because i am a member of wanted list and i am getting charged and no one has responded to my email, is there a 1-800 number where i can can call and speak to someone at wanted list? they have charged me an additional 5.48 and it doesn't make any sense why they would do that.
For the record, I have had a very good experience with Netdvdflix since they returned to business. While the queue doesn't work that well, I always get fast shipping with them and they have a big selection (though it is true they're not getting new stuff like they used to).
Well I have 87 movies in my queue and I have had four movies sent to me since I had my account reactivated. This has been over a month now. Out of the four movies I have had sent to me none were movies from my pre-shutdown queue. All have been movies I have had to add so that I can get something. There really is not anything more that I want other than what is on my queue. I wonder if they had a bunch of movies that were never returned to them after the shutdown?
oba, that's exactly what I was thinking - that they have lost a lot of the pre-shutdown inventory because members didn't return the movies. I only wanted what was in my queue as well, because they haven't really added anything new that I wanted. I think there is still a lot going on behind the scenes that the owners aren't telling their members. They are a business and need to keep their members to survive, especially after probably having spent quite a bit to get everything up and running again. I just couldn't continue to be a member with such crappy service when I knew that better was out there. Nymmedia may be more expensive, but in this case, you get what you pay for.
very well said a2williams, nym media is the way to go that's for sure, but as you said they may be a tad more expensive, but if you write reviews that will reduce your costs per month considerably, they are really good and deserve all the praise in the world. i am a customer for life!
I've been enjoying nymmedia for a while now. I like the decent turn-around time and the packing and shipping job. I have not had any bad disks show up.
I'll stick with them. They went through an upgrade and everything was fine in a couple days. Good support.
exaclty i agree with you, nymmedia is excellent, i can't praise them enough, they always send something good from my list, i wish they could get to my top two but i know several people want the same thing, i'll just have to wait it out.
