I figured I drove 20 miles in what I was pretty sure, but not 100% sure was the wrong direction ...I was 1/2 asleep and wasnt paying attention , and there were no landmarks(It was pitch black). I figured just to get back to where the "set" was, Id have wasted ~ 2 1/2 gallons of gas, round trip.....assuming I was going the wrong way. At that point, not only should I have seen light on the horizon, I should have been in civilization. I estimated I had 28-30 miles TOPS left in fuel. Not much of a cushion. I said fuck it...gotta refer to Ockham's Razor when in doubt, jettisoned my spare tire (Im not proud of polluting, and I feel bad), flipped a bitch, turned off my air conditioner, and said a little prayer to my personal God. I litterally COASTED into the service station. Man I've never been so happy to over pay for 91 octane gas! All said, I blame me for not topping off and putting myself in that situation.
