The last one that I had was 4 years ago and I know that technologies changed and I am kind of unaware of the current technology trends and standards. Basically I want to get an all-around laptop and for graphic design (Photoshop and 3D modeling). I have decided not to spend more than $1,500 on a laptop and these features are that I picked: -1.8+ GHz processor So far I am looking at Dell and at HP DV6000T laptop. The HP laptop also has 5-in-1 memory card slot and a lightscribe writing feature. Let me know your ideas or tips/suggestions. [Link] |

Keypads can be kind of fragile and I'm betting that you wouldn't want (cost-wise) for the keypad or the screen to die a premature death. It's a tough bill to fill because you want inexpensive, powerful and very sturdy all in one package. You might want to consider upping your budget a little. I'd want at least a 160 gig HDD. These days, 120 gigs is a bit small and the extra space isn't going to be that expensive, I think. [Link] |

A comparable one directly from HP goes for $1,200 + sales tax and shipping. So I think that I saved over $300 which is good. The only thing that I am concerned for is for the processor, initially I planned for the 2.00Ghz processor but that is another $350. I plan to keep this laptop for 2 years and then maybe get a better one. [Link] |
