There seems to be quite a few comic fans who hate any sort of sexuality with the characters. On some sites there people complaining that Wonder Woman needs a costume that covers her up more and really hate it when an artist draws her well endowed, in sexy poses or with bottoms that don't fully cover her cheeks. The picture posted here of Wonder Woman is drawn by an artist that a lot of fans hate because he draws WW too sexy and in too many sexy poses. One artist even started drawing long shorts under Supergirl's skirt because he felt the bottoms (like a cheerleader wears) was offensive and sexualized the character. Some comic fans are very quick to call a character a slut if she dresses showing too much skin or is shown sleeping with another character. Many comicbook fans have strange sexual hangups get bothered by anything shown to be remotely sexual for some reason. Some women are particularly vocal about this type of thing. What they don't understand (or want to understand) is that superhero comics are mostly aimed at a male audience and are drawn and written by mostly males. I don't think he should be seeing sex and nudity in comics but a bit of cheesecake and sexy women is perfectly fine considering what the product is and who it's target audience is. And yeah, I can see how the margins of what a superhero is can sometimes become blurred, but a guy who dresses up as something supernatural like a man bat with fancy weapons and who mimics supernatural powers is closer to being a superhero than a special forces soldier armed with conventional weapons. The only reason people confuse characters like Scarlett with being a superhero is because she's a comicbook character in a semi-Sci-Fi comic and cartoon. If Scarlett's a superhero then you might as well call characters like Sgt. Rock, Luke Skywalker (especially with his Jedi powers!) or John McClain superheroes. [Link]

Comicbookresources.com, DCcomics.com, Newsarama.com. There are a bunch of men and women complain about the way women are drawn in comics all the time. They complain about the way the way Ed Benes draws women when he was on the JLA. They complain that Greg Land draws women that have pornstar expressions. They complained about Mike Turner's stuff. They complained that Supergirl shouldn't wear a short skirt. They complain that girls feel uncomfortable in comicbook shops because of the posters of superheroines on the wall. I always looked at the way comic book women were drawn as how the perfect woman should look as opposed to the stick thin size zero models I was seeing in the girlie magazines. [Link]
