On a related note, Bree Olson would be perfect for Supergirl, or Claire Bennet of HEROES. Peter North would make a really good Superman, I think. I remember a movie called The Adventures Of Neutron Man where he played a comic-book artist who drew the title character; at the end he dressed up as Neutron Man for a scene. He filled out the costume well, I think. (Ladies, I'm secure enough in my masculinity to say that. Doesn't that turn you on? ) I would like, though, to see porn stars playing original superpowered characters. One of the things that helped put Jenna Jameson on the map was her movie Wicked Weapon where she played The Jenna-rator, which as far as I know was the first superhero porn movie that played it straight--it wasn't a spoof, it wasn't a parody, and it worked. It occurs to me that a porn star would be a great "civilian" occupation for a superhero--the schedule is relatively flexible, and you can explain your costume away as a new type of fetish gear. And if you're late to a shoot or an appearance because you have to shore up a collapsing bridge, or bust up a bank robbery--well, it wouldn't be the first time a porn star has been late; just call it getting stuck in traffic, or something like that. Also, as a porn star you can buy drugs from your supplier, then bust them in your superhero identity. You get your money back, and you get to do your part in the War On Drugs. I definitely support porn stars as superheroes, so to all of you, should you find yourself with time on your hands between shoots--Get Out There And FIGHT CRIME!!! It only ran three issues though, and the third didn't really have any story in it. It was pretty good too I still have the issues. They just jammed everything into that 3rd one and ran it as a text piece. They promoted the book as Jenna writing it and being really behind it. She had no real say in the storyline, didn't even go to the Comic Cons to promote it (then again, most of the female professionals at the cons said if she showed up, they'd walk) and of course, because it was a Jenna book, people actually expected it to be sexual, and there was nothing of the sort. And then Virgin Comics went belly up right after. Far from a coincidence. [Link]

I remember Victoria Zdrok being there one time. It must have had to do with Jenna's potentially being there as associated with their craft more than an outright political statement. Am I right? Because you've got actual professionals who are currently writing, drawing, or editing comics currently and then along comes the "just here for the publicity" former adult film star who you know really knows nothing about the business, just promoting herself. So yeah I can understand why they'd say they'd boycott, but I don't think they should have. In the end, they would have just showed what they knew that Jenna probably didn't. But as for the conventions, they really don't want any of the porn industry anywhere near the conventions anymore. Carnal Comix is the only one who's able to get away with it because they actually produce product but even that's just barely allowed and they go out of their to not announce who's signing where the wrong people could get wind of it. The first time I went to San Diego for the Con, Carnal was promoting Alicia Rio, Hyapatia Lee, Sarah Jane Hamilton, among others. No problems back then (but it was the 90's.) Heh, I remember seeing Sarah Jane-Hamilton being introduced to Mickey Spillaine and at the time I wondered if either one of them knew who the other was.
