I enjoy flirting with women and have tried opening with various complimentary lines. Some of the ones I use which get the most response are:

"You are very attractive" and "You have a nice smile".

I'd like to know what the nicest thing I can say to a woman is from a woman's prospective. I try to keep my lines simple so I don't end up looking like a dork.

You'll get farther if you're sincere and specific. If you compliment something that isn't particularly distinctive on her she'll know you don't mean it. Often you can tell what in particular to compliment - if a woman is wearing a short skirt and she's got long legs, then she's playing up that asset and would appreciate a compliment on them. But be respectful. "Nice legs. Wanna fck?" is funny but she won't take you seriously.

Arethusa is right. I never liked to hear "You have lovely eyes," or some other canned phrase. Sincerity is everything.

Actually, it doesn't matter if it's a guy and a romantic situation, or just any everyday encounter with anyone, we like to be noticed for our own personal interests. The woman at the post office might like it if I mention how much I enjoyed seeing her son's enthusiasm the other day at the arts festival. My friend might appreciate my comment that I admire how she and her husband forego all other invitations to spend their Saturday at their son's baseball game in the next town.

Canned comments just sound like somebody's after something.

Watch what people do with their hands when you speak to them. Their hands will tend to go to the places on their body they are most comfortable with, or their best features. Compliment them on these features.

women enjoy hearing something that isn't just a line.

I'd rather start talking to someone about something that isn't a pickup line, then have him tell me something that he genuinely likes about me.
