Once Ed started churning them out with "perfect pre-industry girls" and canned chatter it was less of a turn on. Max's words are the result of the kind of coercion none of his costars were ever exposed to. As far as I know, he never threatened to throw any of them in a cage for four years if they didn't do his movie. Of course he's gonna want to get on with his life. He got off easy and he knows it. I wouldn't be much surprised if they made a deal with him to let him out early if he'd just say whatever they wanted him to say. [Link]

Even if some of them didn't have a clue who he was, they should have educated themselves. I think if someone puts you in prison for 3 years for making movies they're basically telling you that you'd best change your attitude. Is it any surprise he doesn't still think he's untouchable? Max overestimated the intelligence of the American people and their reverence for the fundamental principles of freedom (Chiefly choice and speech), apparently. That is what he's basically saying. If you make porn movies with simulated rape scenes, you can put any disclaimer you want on it and a jury of idiots will always see real rape if they're prejudiced about it and that's how they choose to interpret it.
