| blake_fan Member Under the spell of my muse. 175 Posts 1/01 | I am so depressed. I was watching NIGHT TRIPS last night on DVD. My favorite movie of all-time. The film that AVN calls the greatest adult film of all-time. And arguably the worst DVD transfer of all-time. I have finally decided to get rid of the DVD and stick with the VHS. Sickening. It got me to thinking, are we, the porn consumer, really powerless to get DVDs of quality? I know that Evil Angel and Ultimate, monitor these Bulletin Boards, they listen, they care, and they produce. I know VCA reads these boards, but I am not persuaded they care a whole lot what we say. But what about companies like Caballero? Are we, the consumers, powerless? _______________________________ "The greatest argument for the existence of God, [Link] |

Private also takes part in this forum. Diabolic, I believe, participates in this forum. ---There is a reason I always say I love Evil Angel, because they appear to genuinely care about what the fans want. Especially Tricia, who keeps us all informed of release dates, changes, or whatever. ---I'd rather be anywhere but here, but I’m here and not anywhere--- |

If the company has a bad track record, you should think twice about buying their discs. If enough people stop buying their discs, they have two choices, improve quality, or lose money. Unfortunately, we are a small minority. There is a market for low quality, cheap products (if there weren't, Leisure Time would have gone out of business a long time ago). The only power that we have is our dollars. Do your homework and don't spend those dollars on inferior product. |

I'm resigned to the fact that the LD format offers the last chance to own quality copies of these porn classics. Unless, of course, some enterprising DVD company wants to buy the rights...NuTech, MG Media are you listening?

I don't know any of the details, so whether the running commentary survives on DVD or not is up to him. In an upcoming Empire Interview, Blake did express dismay over how his first four films have been treated, but that there's nothing he can do about them. He did confirm, however, that he planned to release more anamorphic versions of his movies (as he did with EXHIBITIONISTS and BLOND & BRUNETTES), and in fact, has a couple of high definition versions of his films all ready for the inevitable High Definition DVD. So we can rest assured that he will treat his movies with the utmost care! Question to blake_fan: Is the Caballero edition worse than the DaVid DVD pressing from some years ago? Have you compared the two? Diesel Here at Adult DVD Empire, Diesel's Den talks about the AVN Adult Entertainment Expo! Also, read our front page report on the Expo! Edited by - Diesel on Feb 5 2002 |

Thanks! ------------------------- No, I have not compared the two versions. But I remember Saki saying a year or so ago they both were terrible. _______________________________ "The greatest argument for the existence of God, |
| scipio Senior Member 1901 Posts 2/00 | As for Night Trips, Caballero, I too am annoyed by the poor quality of Blake's early work on DVD (I don't -just- have Private dvds), but I am at least thankful to the studios that DO show an interst and care for feedback and communication with their consumers. Above all, Tricia from EA and Roger from Private stand out, as well as David Crawford from Wicked (who I haven't seen in awhile) the Ultimate guys and the several DVD authors who's names sadly escape me for the moment. It's always good to see others post, and I for one would love to see Team Tushy, Diabolic, Rosebud, VCA and others become more active in the forum answering questions and discussing things with us consumers. I can't imagine how much consumer goodwill Tricia in particular has created with her honest and regular presence here. Without getting into the whole "three cheers" kind of thing, Tricia's being here in the way she is, is [bold]very[/bold] much appreciated. cheers, scipio |
| The Wanderer All-Star Member 192 Posts 6/00 | If you can't find a copy elsewhere, NIGHT TRIPS often appears in the adult laserdisc section of eBay (a brand-new copy went for $15 recently). Copyright for the LD commentary track is held by the distributor, Laserdisc Entertainment. I hope Andrew Blake can include it on the DVD release because it's very entertaining and deserves a wider audience.NuTech are a class act. They deliver high quality transfers of classic titles on a regular basis and at a reasonable price. One of my favourites is Vista Valley PTA . Great picture quality and the controversial subject matter seems to be uncut. |
