Kara Bare, one of my favorite performers, also repeatedly referred to herself as a whore.

I personally have no negative associations with the term 'whore', a category which includes some of the sweetest girls I've known.

Lukeisback Features This Thread and a Reader Gives Some Encouragment to my New Website for New Talent Here.

I see that in the comments section at Lukeisback people think I have a good idea--I'm going to tip off all the new talent about which producers and directors are treating new talent like a POS, and I'm going to steer the new talent to the companies that respect women. Producers who abuse women, you are on notice--I've already selected the domain and am designing the site. In 2 years most of the talent you are shooting now will be gone, and maybe in 2 years most of the new talent will have been tipped off who to avoid in this business before they find out the hard way.

Look, I like Katja and Jewell and all the ladies, I respect all women. But every women, Katja Kassin, Jewell, Tricia and anyone who has been called a whore by some man-pig--every woman can remember the first time they were put down with that word. Now, after getting older and wiser, these beautiful women know that it's just a word and they have the confidence and self-esteem to not let it hurt them.

However, there are many new 18 and 19 year old teenagers entering adult who still take it hard to be called a whore. Women have the power in adult and they should use it--tell the producers the "w" word is tired and lame now. Make porn cool and hold yourself to higher standards. Strive for quality performances and don't rely on stupid words like whore to get a cheap thrill.

Katja posted what Annie Sprinkle wrote. "40. Whores are rebelling against the absurd, patriarchal, sex-negative laws against their profession and are fighting for the legal right to receive financial compensation for their valuable work."

So performers, if you are going to let these idiots call you a whore, tell them to call you a whore in the positive way that Annie Sprinkle describes whores. Tell the idiots calling you white trash whore on dvd that they have to use it in a positive way--no more negative use of the word whore.

It's hurts the women who want to enter this industry and aspire to something bigger than being degraded by a man with a camera who calls them whore and degrades them to satisfy the fans.

I've made my point. Don't need to make it again. I suppose I'll let the rest of you go on about how you love to be called whores and how it turns you on to be treated like a POS in dvds. Most of you wont' be here in four years, you'll be replaced by new talent, and that's who my site will reach. I have to get to work. Nuff said. I'll be back to announce my new website in a month or so. Watch out, producers, there's going to be information the new talent can access about you and your content from now on, before they agree to shoot with you. I know some ladies who will provide lots of interesting BTS accounts of that will show just how uncool and stupid some of you really are.

people can call me what they want. They want to call me a whore, fine. They want to call me x-rated actress, fine. whatever they call me I don't let nobody label me for sure. To me it doesn't matter what others think of me, it matters what I see in myself. If an adult actor/actress refers to themselves as a whore than it's all about what that term means to them and not what it might mean to somebody they don't even give a shit about. in the end words are just words, terms, definitions...

fundo I don't need you or anybody to speak up for me. I'm old and strong enough to do this myself if I don't like anything. Lately it seems you are on a crusade to make porn life a better place or whatever. You can say and write what you want if you speak for yourself but please don't speak in the name of the "performers", "ladies" etc.

You obviously don't understand Norma Jean. She doesn't want the word "whore" banned because she went through a lot to fight for her right to be one but she doesn't like to be labeled and judged and disrespected for what she does. Her statement is that whores are important members of society and should be treated as such.
If you ban the word, the disrespect and judgment won't stop. So to hell with the fuckin' word! it doesn't mean shit.

No, you are wrong and this isn't Zen we're talking about--where words mean nothing--the word whore is loaded and maybe it doesn't mean anything to you but it means something to most women in this world to be called a whore and anyone who doesn't agree please step out of porn la-la land for a moment.

I don't speak for any ladies--I speak for real men, and that is apparent from all of my posts--and I'm saying to you, it's not cool to allow yourself to be called a whore. Whore doesn't mean prostitute in the sense it's being used. It means "worthless POS" and maybe you don't see that but it's apparent that is the context in which it is used.

Katja, with all due respect, you might be stronger than most of the female talent, and it is my perogative to speak as a man asking ladies to have more dignity and self-respect in the adult business. I've known an 18 year-old girl that fled this industry after Max Hardcore pissed in her mouth. I dislike men that abuse women. That's what is going on here. If you are okay with it, that's not cool with me, but I certainly don't speak for you--but before you entered this business and were in Germany, I was there in in the 1990s in LA and I saw things that you weren't around to see. I go all the way back to a performer named Lauren Brice who was in John Stagliano's 2nd Buttman movie (a classic!). Not with Lauren, but with several other ex-performers, I've had to deal with the aftermath of females who leave the industry broken and humiliated. As a man I can and will speak for them, and encourage all new performers, to not put up with this bs. So if you are okay with being called a whore, that's okay with me. I am positive that most performers don't want to be called a whore, but put up with it because they are young and don't know how to stand up for themselves.

It doesn't matter that 2 or 10 female performers and a few fans and a few producers post in this thread that it's cool to be called a whore and dog each other. It's something for men to call out these directors and producers who are doing this to women.

It sets a bad example to future female talent for you and others to allow yourselves to be degraded by these men, and I don't belive it sells, because if it did, gonzos would be banking instead of complaining about poor sales.

Say what you want--performers, for most of you, your careers won't last long and your dvds will stop selling someday and your sites will be shut down, and all that will be left is a legacy of being called a whore. I'm trying to reach the new talent that is contemplating entering this industry and who have no idea yet how women in modern porn have allowed this sorry state of affairs to occur.

I have to get to work on the new site now. I will be back towards the end of the summer. The site will be linked at Lukeisback and [link removed: No tube sites] advertising.

you know what makes me angry? you are talking to me like I'm a victim. Please, you can do whatever you want but let me decide myself what I'm comfortable with. I don't see myself as a bad example for new girls that enter the porn business and I do NOT feel humiliated. I felt humiliated when I was working as a waitress back in Germany for 3 bucks an hour.

And you are saying I have no dignity or self respect? I think you are absolutely wrong. You don't even know me.

You totally get Annie Sprinkle wrong. Just because whores want to fight the judgment they face every day doesn't mean they don't want to be whores. They just want to be able to pay taxes, get health insurance etc without being stalked by the law...

you as an individual can't speak for all men or all "ladies" or all performers. You can express your own personal opinion but you can't talk about me or a whole group of people and decide for me or for them.

anybody can make a website, go ahead if it makes you happy. But whores want to make as much money as they can in a short period of time and they won't care what you have to say about the people that sign their paychecks.
Once you suck dick for a living and possibly take it up the ass too it doesn't make a big difference if somebody wants to call you a whore. That's why we are fucking for a living. I'm totally honest with you, I wouldn't like to sit in an office and work my ass off for 8 hours every day for a whole month when I can make the same money in just a few hours.

The reason that the women in porn don't object to being called a whore is because they are the first ones to admit that they are whores. Jeez.

Um, DO NOT speak for me fundo. DO NOT speak for the women in porn, unless someone actually asks that you do (which I doubt will happen). SHUT UP already.

I don't need a spokesperson, I speak fine for myself. But fuck, you gotta know when to shut up already!

This just posted the other day at Gene Ross' site--Jim Powers, the new website will feature you the most prominently as a producer that all NEW talent entering this business MUST avoid. The mother of the man who owed you money was dealing with grief. If you are a friend of Jim Powers, watch out, the new site has a domain name, and already some good connections in the industry to help drive out these gonzo-johns.

"I put it in and it bounced," Powers says. "I go banging on his mother's trailer. I'm like what's up with this $3,000? She says Timmy wasn't supposed to give that to you. Timmy says you weren't going to cash it. Why the hell would I loan money if I don't want it. I paid for your stupid brother's cremation- as far as I'm concerned I own his ashes! I'll take them to a bukkake. That's when she started crying. I guess somebody told her what it was. I said I want my money."

When you get ripped a new one on the new website, newbie talent will avoid you until you are history in this business. It's the same principle as in the escort industry, when johns write bad reviews of escorts or otherwise are creeps, the escorts put out alerts on the john, and nobody will see him.

But in porn the gonzo-johns won't be able to change their identies, like Jim Powers--gonzo-john #1. I don't care how many friends this gonzo-john has

Its a rough business to be sure, and the concept is good. Of course people will vehemently disagree who new talent should avoid. However if such a site prevents even 5% to 10% of new actresses from having a bad experience with a particular idiot I think its worth it. Philosophically its similar to publishing consumer reports and still seeing people go to car dealerships and buying bad models. You cannot help everyone, or even the majority of people, however even if there is a minority of girls who want to look out for themselves and are willing to do their homework they deserve help.

There is a difference between calling a woman on the street a 'whore' and calling a professional porn actress a 'whore' The woman on the street may very well be chaste and so to refer to her as a 'whore' could be wrong and offensive. However, porn actresses are simply prostitutes who fuck for money on camera, as opposed to in a private residence (and generally tend to get paid alot more)

So, it's simply a fact that they are whores. It's not being rude; it's just a simple truth.

According to the dictionary, you are correct. However, according to the law, you are wrong. At any rate, the context in which you use the word is everything.

By the way, any title or ad copy is directed at the customer, not the performers. So, "Ass Blasting Felching Anal Whores" is a comment on what the producer thinks about us, rather than on what he thinks of the performers.

Eliminating the word doesn't eliminate the need to define a term that exists. A whore is a person who has sex for money, and these people do exist. That's essentially what this whole message board is about.

If I'm walking down the street and a man drives by and screams "WHORE!" at me out his window then, well, I just shrug and move on. I mean, I don't have sex for money, so why should I take it personally? I just assume he has me mixed up with someone else and forget about it.

If I have my legs hooked over my lover's (or, dare I dream, Steve Holmes' ) shoulders while he's pounding my swollen pussy and he's looking deep into my eyes and calling me "his greedy little fucking whore" I'll just beg him to say it a little louder so that my neighbors can hear you say that too.

If I apply for a job as an escort, prostitute, or porn star and I see myself on a box cover (God forbid the monstrosity that would look like) with the worlds Sweet Innocent Melpster Finally Turns Filthy Whore #1 I'll nod and say, "Ahhh-yep. Ah reckon that's me."

I don't see what the problem is. If you don't want to be a whore, don't be one. If someone calls you one even if you're not, then again, who cares? Throwing words only hurt if you give them weight.

The production of adult movies does not involve acts of prostitution, no matter how many times you assert that this is "simply" the case. This issue was resolved almost twenty years ago by the California Supreme Court in the Freeman case.

Fundo, have you ever worked in the adult industry? If not, how are you qualified to give girls career advice?

Instead of trying to start a website to inform new girls, why not talk with the people at AIM about doing a more comprehensive consultation with each new girl. Something where they discuss specific producers and companies, and what she can expect from working with them. Since all new girls have to pass through AIM before they can start working, it would cover everyone.

I understand where you are coming from. But I think if we start petitioning that the word "pig" and "dog" be used to describe male peformers it will indirectly fuel pride in the word "whore". A pig to me unaplogetically consumes female sexuality and celebrates it. Women performers are simply trying to destroy the traditional negative connation of this word and give it positivity.

Have you seen my proposition? I think you should go on a campaign to encourage lady performers to call men "pigs." This will be the price for calling women whores.

AIM has a very good introduction for new performers, it's the porn 101 DVD... and it kind of deals with the subject and explains that you should stand up for yourself and speak up if you feel uncomfortable with anything and that you should never do anything that you don't like.

Dear fundo,

working in porn is wonderful for some people but surely not for everyone. If a girl has problems being called a whore she should definitely not choose to work in porn.

Independent of the California Supreme Court decision in the Freeman case, people will still call porn chicks whores.

damn, i'm out for a couple days and this thread gets even funnier.

I DO agree with warning girls against 'bad' producers, but I think we have different ideas of what constitutes bad.

If a producer makes girls work with grotesque guys that she doesn't want to work with, if he says that he's hiring her for a boy/girl scene and then intimidates her into doing anal (or more), if he bounces checks... THAT's a bad producer.

Making girls aware of WHAT types of movies or attitudes different companies make or project could also be useful. But then let the girl decide if she wants to work for them, don't tell the girls that they can't work for someone.

There are directors in this business that I don't necessarily respect, and I'll tell my friends that they might not want to work for those directors. I told Kami about one such director a couple years ago. At the time, she chose to not take my advice, but my point is, it was her choice, and she chose to learn from HER experiences in life, not mine.

actually 2 one was pure evil and one was just a flake. the thing is porn chicks are all different, we all have different standards of what acceptable, and we all have different intellects. What's degrading to some may not be degrading to me and the other way around. If I had listened to Tricia I would have never gotten hooked on meth and lost all that weight! See everything has an up side. :)

Since I don't work in the business this is supposition on my part but it appears that there are a few standard complaints about producers/directors that could easily be fitted into a better business type template.

1) Doesn't pay.
2) Used co-stars with STD problem.
3) Shoots types of porn where talent gets hit, pissed on ect.
4) Did not tell me ahead of time what shooting would entail.

If there were a standardized Better Business Bureau type form that could be kept on-line by a neutral entity, I suspect that the bad actors would become readily apparant. Of course then you could have various third parties filing false complaints so there would have to be some way to confirm the identity of the person making the complaint.

Or Fundo's approach could be used, but it would only be as good as the the person chronicaling misbehavior.

Does the industry use a standardized actor/independant contractor contract for talent who are shooting a scene? I imagine such a form would help resolve some non-payment issues.

I think user-driven feedback is the best way to do it. Have one page that lists producers, directors, agencies, etc., and then have each listing link over to it's own page where performers can leave comments. In fact, you could put performers up there as well, which would make it more of a complete system.

Hypothetically Performers could pick up an access code from AIM, so that the only people who could post would be those who had already proven their identity. Of course someone would soon turn their code over to some idiot suitcase pimp, but it would prevent many confusing troll jobs.

In most industries there are usually at least a handful of people who are no longer actively participating in the business itself who had a reputation for dealing even handedly with people. Since I do not have the first hand experience you do, I can't provide names here. But if they exist, they could at least hold the ownership interest in the site.

The other alternative would be to treat it simply as another internet board to be moderated. Then you would look at people either running this board or its counterparts in the industry (this would be the nerd solution) If you took someone who has at least two years of active moderation or administration experience they would have a track record upon which they could be judged. Do they play favorites? Edit other people's posts un-necessarily? Act in an arbitrary and caprecious manner? Engage in vendettas, or do they treat posters they supervise fairly? After a couple years and many decisions, a board administrator's on-line personality becomes pretty obvious.

The problem with such a plan is who would pay for the bandwith and whether they could be expected to do such work as a volunteer. For reasons of stability it would be better to have a part time paid employee and then once again your looking at money and would need an income stream.

The alternative would be to have close to a completely unregulated board. The old index card on the public corkboard approach as one court called it. Among other problems I could see that board getting spammed into the ground pretty quickly. The low cost solution is an individually owned website owned by someone like Fundo, which is incidently more succeptable to lawsuits and crusades.

Perhaps I should ask, is AIM run as a non-profit with a board of directors, and are they able to avoid issues such as accusations of preferencial treatment?

Fundo, if a porn star wants to be called a whore, then let her be called a whore. Why do you care so much? It's her choice. I say that if it really bothers you that much, then maybe you shouldn't watch porno movies (or at least those where the word "whore" is used). But you need to remember that porn isn't meant to be taken seriously.

another stupid, ludicrous, ridiculous, retarded sociological debate on a PORN WEBSITE!!!!!! YES: woen are not whores. they can be doctors, lawyers; business owners, whatever they want to do!! In the BEDROOM, having SEX, they are called whores because mentally, to use a deroggatory word like whore is a sexual turn-on, a sexual stimulant; sometimes for the guy, sometimes for the girl, for some viewers who buy the porn product. Are we trying to clean up the language in porn, now?? hey, lets get rid of the word fuck!!! Let the girls scream, "oh, yeah, penetrate me!! penetrate me, with your big erect phallus!! make my vaginal orifice secrete!!!" hows that?? is that good enough for the stupid idiots that want the word whore out of porn???? fucking a! now porn performers have to be politically correct when they're in a scene getting off???

I don't like the word whore myself, but I don't have a problem with it being used in porn. As for my reason why, read my previous post on ths thread.
Apprently some people feel that way. Yeah, it's completely stupid, but that's what some people want.

what makes somebody a bad producer though.
If I tell a chick before hand Im gonna face fuck you and give you facial and piss on you and pay you $1,000.00 and I do exactly that am I bad producer.
this is exactly what luke skywalker does he informs the girls ahead of the time even shows them a video of their movies the girl choosesto do it and people still have a problem.
now if a prodcuer doest pay or use std infected co stars or intimidates girls into acts that were not agreed upon then yeah report the bastard.
but it seems like you wanna blackball anyone with extreme or hardcore content which is wrong.
I do agree that producers need start telling girls more about whats going to happen down to the details. They should also inform the girl thatt hey are gonna be calling her names.

And nobody gives a flying flip how the California Supreme Court calls defines porn. The average joe will still call a woman who takes $$ to fuck someone on camera a whore. This is why I find the whole language of "porn whore" somewhat amusing. People add "porn" to the name as it somehow helps to stratify the difference between a porn actress and your average streetwalker.
And besides.....I'm willing to bet it's just a matter of time before all the hordes of camera-toting director/producer/actor one-man POV websites get nailed on prostitution charges. The line was crossed long ago....it's just a case waiting to happen now.

Oh look it's fundo on yet another crusade. Next will be a thread asking to ban the word 'fuck' or any other dirty talk.
"Gee Golly, your vagina feels good!"
"Thank you! I do appreciate your compliment!"
"May I please put my penis into your anus?"
"Certainly not! That was banned by fundo last week!"
