Hey guys,

I'd greatly appreciate ANY suggestions on where online or otherwise to sell my laptop...preferrably not to individuals (i.e.-ebay,etc.)

I just bought my Compaq 2199us AMD-Athlon 2800+XP-M w/512MB DDR SDRAM & 40GB Harddrive on MemorialDay'04...& I JUST NOW realized that it does not have neither IEEE1394 nor USB2.0...just the 1.1...& HP tells me that my cardbus PCMCIA slot is not the standard used today & will not be compatible with USB2.0 hubs/cards...So, I'm screwed....They also told me that there is no way of upgrading my internal combo drive either (My initial intent was to use an external DVD+R drive)

A corporation/store isn't going to buy your laptop at the same price point that an individual would; it's the same thing with used cars. If you want to make the most money, you will need to consider individual buyers.

So try eBay, Craigslist, etc.

If you don't want to deal with the hassle of auctioning off your laptop, consider using one of the online auction brokers like AuctionDrop. Sure, they'll get a cut of the sale.

However, used computing gear isn't worth that much to begin with. Depending on your finances, you might be better off donating it to charity and taking the tax writeoff.

I'm not a CPA or tax attorney and even if I were, I wouldn't offer professional advice online in an anonymous forum such as ADT, so go find one and talk to him/her about the feasability of doing this.

Actually I am looking for a laptop but I am cpu illiterate. It needs to have Windows XP, enough memory to support Office and accept a wireless network.

I actually found a company (rather notable/large)...Dealtree.com offering me around $400-450 upon receipt, payment via paypal...But, I'll check out some small brick/mortar merchants first.

FYI in case anyone is ever in my current position...
Hp/Compaq, Toshiba, CDW, Compusa all offer great rates for your used laptop/desktops.
