I am curious why tattoos are such a huge deal in the porn industry and to many of you on here, as I have been reading. I have had a few companies refuse to shoot me because of my tattoos and I just don't understand. I would understand if the tattoos were on the "important parts" like the tits, ass or pussy but on the rest of the body I just don't understand why a lot of people are against them. I grew up around my grandfather (a vietnam vet) who was covered in tattoos, and my uncle was as well so I always knew I would get tattoos when I turned 18 but I never realized how much of a hindrance they would be in my career. Personally I love mine and I just want to understand why some companies and men absolutely hate them.
First of all more power to you if you have them.Next I find it interesting that you said companies won't hire you because of your tattoos because I'm finding more difficult to find videos without chicks or guys cover with body art.Not that I'm interested in guys.To me I find tatts very distracting.I would also like to add I don't mind tatts here or there what I find irritating is the complete body art.Hope I didn't offend you with my opinion. It's not about your tattoos per se. I think (and the gentlemen of AVT can correct me here) that there has been a growing number of women in the porn industry who have tattoos. They may mean a great deal to them (you shouldn't get one if it doesn't) but a lot of porn consumers are not in any way delighted to see 'marks' on girls. However, we're living in an age where porn consumers can have a lot of influence over what a performer does, so there has to be a quid pro quo somewhere, right?
I am not offended at all, I was just curious. And yes, a few companies wont shoot girls with more than a couple of little tattoos and I don't understand. I understand not liking a girl that is all sleeved and covered but in my case I am tattooed, not just a couple, I have 10 random (by random i mean they dont connect to each other to make a huge piece and like I said before, I am curious how it is distracting or seen as a "mark" if its not on the "important" parts. I just see them as pretty pictures on my skin.
I think the most interesting thing about porn girls and tattoos is that Janine (who has amazingly beautiful tattoos) decided to get them so that she wouldn't work in porn any more. I would be interested to see how many girls got large tattoos for the same reason - Eva Angelina for example. She came back and did stuff I doubt she would have considered before her hiatus.
Historically, what sells best in porn is young and innocent in appearance, but conversely, wildly uninhibited in bed. Tattoos in abundance give a contrary image. Porn is a fantasy world and the biker chick look is seldom a part of the fantasy. It's that simple.

Tattoos are often designed to attract attention to themselves. And such attracting of attention works too well for some people. Their attention is distracted from the sex towards the tattoos. Which is a turn off. Because when a guy's attention is distracted from sex, then his erection is liable to go down. It all depends on how used you are to seeing tattoos. If you are very used to them, then they don't distract your attention much. But not everybody is used to them this much.
Hi Well as a big fan of porn i have to say that the more a woman tatoos herself, the more turned off i am. Sorry - thats just the way i feel. Several of my mates who consume porn feel the same. Examples are Eva Angelina, Tory Lane. Both are fabulous performers and i do love them but both have, in my opinion ruined themselves. why leave the entire industry just because of some people on a message boards opinion? I honestly thought tattoos were "mainstream" and accepted now but entering the industry proved me wrong.I appreciate everyone responding with their views... still love my tattoos but I am not getting anymore done as that would be career suicide, IMHO!!
I think many of us growing up saw tattoos on men - not on women. I am not a fan of them. And as so many women in porn started getting them, in an attempt to be original, to me, they all just became followers. Same with piercings. And even boob jobs. Tattoos on performers is not necessarily a huge problem for me but it still is one because I usually prefer women without any. I'm not a purist because there are plenty of performers with tattoos that still make my favorite's list and even some that sport multiple tattoos(but those are quite rare). Quantity, size and position are usually where I have the biggest issues. If the performer has a huge sleeve or an all back tattoo then there's a good chnace that I won't care to watch her do porn. Of course if a performer starts her career with a couple of small ones or none and then decides to go all out down tattoo road then there is almost no chance that I will buy any of her products after she gets them. Now unless you, Leya, have more than the two tattoos I saw on your upper arms and the one on your lower left arm then they wouldn't be all that bad. Somewhat on the bizare side of things but they may have special meaning to you. I wonder if LA Direct advised you prior to you starting a career in porn that your tattoos might be an issue in the same way that implants might also be an issue. There are many things that divide porn fans but tattoos and implants are often at the top of the list. You have both so that is bound to close some doors. In the case of implants. It might actually open some. You have set some limits on what you are willing to do in porn and what you are unwilling to do. That is a very good decision on your part because doing stuff that you don't want to do to help your career often leads to drug and alcohol abuse and that's not a good. The dwonside to limts is that some studios will simply not hire you for anything except those things that you don't want to do and that closes a lot of doors.
LA direct is a horrible agency run by a horrible guy...I started my career a year ago, I had already had my daughter, already had my implants (I am a stripper from vegas what did you expect?) And already had my tattoos. I have 10 of them, my first I got on my 18th birthday. My biggest tattoo is on my back but my hair hides it, I really do not have a lot but im definitely not "the girl next door" from the chin down....I was never the girl next door, even if I never had tattoos, kept my a cup "boobs" and started porn before I had my daughter I don't think the girl next door fits with my entire presence. And yes, I do have limits, I do not compromise. The only thing I "compromised" on is that I found out that you can clean your ass hole, hence why I am starting butt sex on film though I have enjoyed it in my personal life for quite some time. This entire first year of my career I didn't know you could clean your ass hole so I was grossed out by having the possibility of shit being seen on a cock on camera but now I know I can clean it I enjoy it even more than I did before in my personal life and will be enjoying it on film soon here too!! ^ I think people's attitudes towards tattoos can change. I can say from my own experience that seeing tattoos now doesn't distract me as much as it used to. Tattoos used to be an automatic turn off for me. But now I'm able to look past it to some extent and appreciate the woman despite her tattoos. Perhaps it's like this for other porn fans too.
Hello and thanks for putting yourself out here and asking the question. It means something (to me at least) and I wish there were more girls from the industry who were doing so. We can sit out here and complain forever and bang our heads against the wall but we might as well be pissing in the wind if we have no evidence that anyone is listening. As someone who dislikes tattoos, this is a kind of sensitive matter and I will try to be respectful about it as I explain my POV. Your explanation for how and why you got them makes a lot of sense and to be honest, it's the kind of thing someone like me never really thinks about. Unfortunately, I just buy the movies and all I see is what's on the screen and as bad as it sounds, when you're masturbating, all that matters is how your brain is interpreting the visuals. I confess that your name is new to me. I haven't seen your tattoos so I can't say much about them. But most tattoos on women (or men for that matter) are just distracting in a porn situation. I will tolerate them if I like the girl and the scene is really hot but it's hard for me to suppress my disappointment. The problem, for me, is that I love skin. I like the way it looks, the way it feels. I like to see the details in the variety of different skin types. Hell, I even find things like stretchmarks to be erotic. But unfortunately, I can't extend myself far beyond things that will naturally happen to a woman's skin. A little bit of makeup or a cute little star tattoo is fine but when they start to get large, I have a hard time with them. Even if it's something very artistic that I would normally admire. Anyway, this might be an unreasonable expectation for porn but to me, all parts of a naked women are important. I love to see feet, legs, arms, shoulders, abdomens and even necks (back and front). To me, it's the whole woman that's erotic. Porn focuses on some parts more than others and that's good but when you see a wide shot and you see tattoos, it's hard to ignore them. It's like seeing a car you love in a color you don't like. It would be hard (for me at least) to drive a yellow car even if I loved the car itself. I don't mean to compare human beings to objects. I'm making this comparison because I need something everyone is familiar with. You're not a car. I know that. It's just that what we are buying out here is the visual. We are paying for what we can see. We don't know anything about you other than what you choose to share in interviews or on forums such as this. Believe me. I wish this wasn't true. It's (I guess) a failing in me more than it is in the women who have them. I would like to say that I love variety and embrace the unusual and the different and to a large extent, I do. But sometimes I just hit a wall. My taste in women and porn is very broad. Probably more than most men could ever come close to. But when something turns me off, there's not much I can do about it even if I would like to try to get it. It is unfortunate that a lot of girls probably get them well before they realize it's going to be an issue in their porn career. But some of them come into porn with no tattoos and start getting them after they start getting popular. To me, that's what I have a much harder time with. When they know a lot of porn viewers don't like them but do it anyway. And a lot of times, these girls disappear shortly after they get them. I think that's unfortunate. And then, I have to say, there are girls who have no tattoos that I loved when they were in the business. They stop doing porn for a while and for a period of months or years, this is how I remember them. Then they show back up with a bunch of tattoos. Now I can't watch any of their old stuff without thinking about it. I hope I at least explained myself in a way that wasn't offensive or upsetting. Again, I thank you for starting the discussion and giving me at least some insight into why people get them. I don't have any tattoos myself and was never into them. The psychology of it is foreign to me. I suspect a lot of the men who complain about them are the same.
I'm cool with women having tattoos, but for me, it's a turn-off if a woman gets a tattoo on her face, front of her neck, chest and boobs. Other than those places I'm cool with tattoos (like on their back, arms and legs).
Yep, that describes me perfectly. I suffer from depression and I get very easily distracted. Even without seeing any tattoos, I still find myself so easily distracted that my erection is liable to go at least once during each wanking session. Sometimes more. I don't have a problem getting erected again. It's just difficult for me to stay erected for long without getting distracted. So I avoid porn with tattoos simply to minimise the number of things that I can get distracted from. I would never dream of telling anyone not to get tattoos. In fact, sometimes I feel I should get a tattoo myself but then I wonder if that would make me a hypocrite. I do feel that the porn industry today has become a lot more receptive to tattoos. I think pornstars like Juelz Ventura, Christy Mack, and Eva Angelina would have probably find it more difficult to work in the porn industry only ten or twenty years ago but today, they can find work even at big studios like Brazzers. I don't know which porn studios avoid working with pornstars that have tattoos or what their reasons are but I can't imagine they represent the majority of the industry. Correct me if I'm wrong.

With no desire to offend you, I'll just share my honest opinion. I absolutely HATE tattoos period, more so on women. I have dated exactly one women who had a tattoo and it bugged the crap out of me. I've not dated a few women because they have more than one tattoo. For me they just look horrible and it makes me feel less about the person. It makes me feel like they are trailer trash. I know, this sounds horrible, but it's how I feel. That having been said, I do know a number of very nice people who have tattoos, but I still think it's stupid. I used to play a lot with escorts and such and I could stand one or two only because there was no emotion involved. Even the sluttiest hottest best lay escort would turn me off if she had too many tattoos. I used to be a HUGE Janine fan, I can honestly tell you she couldn't pay me to screw her now. I understand it's a personal choice, but it really turns me off. I used to be a fan of a number of porn stars, ordered anything they were in, but once they started going wild on the tattoos I never ordered anything else they made. AS far as porn goes, I like my stars to "look" somewhat innocent or at least sweet and Tattoos just kill it for me. And yes, every part of a woman is important but I thought men just watched for the face/pussy/ass/tits, I didn't even know they looked anywhere else LOL. You have stated though if it is a really hot scene you can look past it, that's how I think everyone should view it. Yes, its preferable the women not have tattoos but if she does her job well then it shouldn't hinder anyone from watching her.

Bear in mind that a porn performer's job is to create a fantasy, and when it comes to fantasy we all want it our way. As for the nature of tattoos, I think it is closer to the truth to say that a tattoo is a statement written upon the bearer's body; the bigger the tattoo, the louder the statement. Regardless of its size, a tattoo requires the viewer to make a choice - agree with it, disagree with it, or ignore it. The more choices viewers are required to make, the greater the odds that some of them will choose to look elsewhere.
Tattoos don't bother me per se -- I have a number myself, as does my wife. And, we are both as mainstream as it gets (I'm a retired math professor, my wife a retired special ed teacher). As long as the tats aren't really tasteless, poorly executed works, I find them quite beautiful. And yet, as a fan mostly of feature porn, I am sensitive to people looking right for the part. I often cringe seeing someone heavily tattooed, thinking that, regardless of how attractive the tattoos are on the performer, the character would never have them. Oddly, piercings are another matter entirely. Can't stand them.

Tattoos are not a huge deal in porn industry they are a pop culture fad in U.S. culture like everything else like piercings. If you want to be part of the "in-crowd" or "bad boys and girls" you get tats and piercings. What's interesting to me is how the placement of tattoos on women has changed over the years. Back in the 80s and 90s the fad was to get a tat over your heart like Belladonna has. I recall the timeline but you had tats on arm (typical tribal), tats on the ass of course, tats on lower back (the only one I liked because it didn't break the aesthetic of symmetry), etc. After literally everyone started getting tats the bad boys and girls had to get more bold in their placement of tats to seperate themselves from the pack. So you started seeing huge body covering tats, tats on face or neck, and so on. The strangest tats I've seen are women who get tats on tops of their feet? I guess the idea is to get tats that aren't too visible and hurt your model looks or your marketability (e.g. hard to play a historical character from the victorian age with tattoos).

In my opinion, 99.9% of the time, the effect of a tattoo is to make ugly guys uglier and pretty girls less pretty. The level of "art" seen in the vast majority of pornstar tattoos ranges from, at best, trite, to absolutely ghastly. (I've seen at least one porn girl, I think actually several, with big tattoos of guns. What kind of world of shit & bad judgment does a teenaged girl have to grow up in to think that's a good idea?!?) The only ones I can think of that I don't at least moderately disapprove of are Sophia Santi's back piece and some of Skin Diamond's.

Well, because they work on some girls, who actually don't skimp of the cost, IE Bonnie Rotten's extensive work, and then on others it doesn't such as new returnee Claire, who just has a few random tats in a few random places. Yeah, she has an "A" for her first name, but it looks to be just thrown on her lower chest region.

Leya, if the surgeon does a good job with implants it is hard to tell they are "fake". The problem here with implants is that so many women over the years have went to chop shops that obviously did not do the job correctly. From what I have seen your breasts aren't bad looking, especially from starting as an A cup.
