They almost always look like they got the color sucked out of them. Why? It does not make them look better. The colors are so weak it ruins the scene.

^ well, initially someone thought it looked good, and now it's corporate identity and they have to stick to it.

You gentlemen will have to give me the names of those sites where the performers look very different because I'm really curious to see what you see.

^^ not sure if there is a name for it, but Hollywood movies do this all the time, look for the term Color Grading

^^^ When colour is removed partially or completely, the effect is known as colour desaturation. It was done in post production for Taxi Driver to keep censors happy.

^^ The title of this topic literally alludes to the websites. Lansky was associated with the sites that fall under the Vixen Media umbrella.

I think it is just poor colour correction tbh.

If it was deliberate colour grading for artistic effect then the photosets would look the same. They don't. The photosets look great and the videos have awful colour casts or are horrendously dull and lacking in contrast.

I'm pretty sure it's intentional. A similar look can be found in a lot of the "art-porn" sites that have been around longer than Lansky's sites. Such as X-Art and Babes. A muted color palette with an almost powdery look at times. At least the whites in these videos aren't as abrasive and harsh on the eyes as what you see in a lot of porn these days.

i prefer a more natural color, but I'll still take this look over the over-saturated skin tones you get in a lot of Brazzers and Darko scenes.

Interesting enough I find it the opposite: photo sets are too much bright like "on your face" lighting whereas in the scenes color palette seems ok(unless it's BlackedRaw/TushyRaw)
But I'm not a photographer myself so...

^^ Same here. I much prefer more natural colors.

Lansky is going for that Instagram aesthetic. Which I am not a fan of.

I don't get this criticism because, from their inception, I've always thought the visual quality of Blacked/Tushy/Vixen scenes is excellent. As far as I'm concerned, the visual quality of these sites is so much better than other sites I regularly subscribe to (HardX, Evil Angel, Jules Jordan, etc.).

To your point, I hate that the Vixen Media Group (VMG) sites started using flash photography for their photo galleries, particularly the glamour shots of the girls. I hate the way the girls are "whited out" by the flash.

I disagree that the colour palette is similar to European sites. While the photography in X-Art etc may be softer, Lansky sites just look like they've turned down the contrast and brightness on my TV to give the illusion of being arthouse. The fact that the photo sets are relatively sharp and bright suggest this is some sort of effect they're applying on the scenes after filming. The earlier Lansky scenes were fine, but now it's totally unacceptable. As for the 'raw' sites, the cinematographer must have been hired from COPS. Those scenes look like they're filmed with a mobile phone and a floodlight.

Jules Jordan.

(at least that's my subjective point of view)

I think the way his scenes look in the first couple of years is pretty damn boring and reminded me of the looks that gonzo had back then and still does now. Around 2016/2017, he started changing the looks of his scenes and it got much better, in my opinion.

Color, at least to me, also goes beyond the lights and filters. The set makes a big difference. Not trying to hate on Lansky (I generally like his work), but the sets leave a lot to be desired sometimes. I realize his choices are intentional.

How does Brazzers achieve oversaturated skin tones? Lighting or post production?

^I already asked you but I haven't seen your reply. Can you name me the sites/studios you used to compare to the Vixen Group? I don't see what you described in your OP and I'm curious to compare the difference.

Pretty sure the question was about the early years where especially with Vixen vids the coloring was indeed quite disturbing. Check out for instance the Kendra Sunderland - Mick Blue scene My Friend's Daughter.

^If that is the case then it would help if the OP was actually more active in the thread he/she created. I have no idea why the OP started this thread but I can't help but feel that It's more like trolling than anything else when the he/she doesn't add much beyond their first post.

I guess I never paid too much attention to it while watching VMG stuff, but I have wondered what it was with Amateur Allure/Swallow Salon titles that made certain colors stand out, specifically the performer's eyes...

How about he doesn't, this has been discussed to death in all the Tushy/Vixen threads.

The comparison between photosets and video is not just about saturation, dynamic range or brightness but terrible colour casts.
Some of the scenes are filmed recently on sets with a lot of red or a lot if blue. The photosets look absolutely fine but the video usually has an awful colour cast as a result.
This obviously cannot be simpky an artistic choice otherwise the colour cast would be applied to the ohotos. It is simply the extra light for the photographs is giving a neutral inage amd the video camera is not being properly white balanced prior to recording the video in the comparatively duller light.
Some of the scenes can be corrected in Premiere but for many the skin tones are irreperably messed up (at least for my skill levels)

I know what you mean and I hate that "look" too. It seems to have contaminated across most of the major studios the past half decade. Bring back the days of the 2000s and early 2010s when lighting and skin colors weren't fiddled with and looked more colorful and natural. Look to Red Light District, Diabolic, and Anabolic as great examples. I don't need an artsy look to my porn.

I really don't see this in most porn today. I think some people just tend to stew over that which they don't like and perceive it to be much more prevalent than it really is.
