Hi, I am a researcher on pornography. I can not find any research on gonzo pornography from the audience's perspective and there is only speculation and guesswork. I am interested in the following questions- What is the pleasure of watching Watching Max Hardcore urinating on a teen-looking woman? Why is so arousing to see anal "gaping"? What is the thrill of watching ATM? Do you like Jenna Jameson or Sasha Grey, why? Some researchers assume that the reason why the audience likes to see those images because they like to see women degraded, but some other researchers disagree. What is your view? Most of the research on audiences are totally out of date- some are still in the Playboy days which are totally irrelevant now. All your answers will be kept confidential. It fulfills a lot of what is demanded by men in something that's arousing. The success of the genre is in that it appeals to what a lot of guys (me included) want to see; men in general, are highly stimulated by sexual imagery. Gonzo porn supplies a lot of this simply, as a successful means of getting guys off. If it gets my dick hard, I can cum to it, and that's its purpose. Occasionally I like features; done well, they have extra layers of eroticism, but generally my demands are such, that I just want to see hot girls fucking, and with the wealth of gonzo porn, it's ably catered for.
Researcher, my ass! The fact that you automatically equate "gonzo" with "degradation" of women gives you away as anti-porn "feminist" Robert Jensen or one of his wannabes. That means you don't really give a shit about our views.
I highly doubt this as from your posts you have made it clear you don't actually know what gonzo style porn is, I'll give you a clue, it's a very specific shooting style and has nothing to do with the sex acts involved. And if you haven't researched that far then I doubt that you are truly a researcher on pornography.
But yeah - I doubt the legitimacy also. Not trying to sound like a snob or grammar nazi, but if I was doing this kind of research, I would check my post for spelling/grammar errors before clicking my mouse (it's something drilled into us for years - something about professionalism and scholarly integrity).
I think there needs to be a better understanding, but beginning with a better understanding of the viewer types in general. As varied as personal opinions may be around here, you still find mutual interests, and similar views being expressed with virtually equal, if not equally realized, consistency. Rather than attempt to understand, or decipher the likes, and dislikes of "gonzo fans", you might first consider the basic perspectives that define each basic viewer type, and their core interests, or more importantly how those basic perspectives separate one viewer type from another. I suppose its somewhat ironic, that the tool perhaps most useful in determining these specifics, has in itself been ruled a category of interest. Relegated to to their own forum, Polls have served to entertain on a variety of topics, but consequently have been rendered inaccessible, for this, or any other meaningful use here. Only in the technical sense is that true, but Jensen likes to cloak himself in that mantle of objectivity. It's the standard anti-porn "researcher" rhetoric. What also gave it away was the poster's failure to give a definition of gonzo anywhere close to the actual one.

This site is full of material to research. Ten years worth of postings. You just have to read. There are plenty of answers to all your questions. Just use the search function and dedicate a few months of your time to it. Good luck!
Because it's sort of real and portraits the naughiter side of sex. But I'm very selective and if the male performer or the producer is not respecting the girl then I don't want it (which rules out Max Hardcore and the like and quite some generic gonzo). For me it's not about degradation but domination, either way but I prefer male domination because well that's very natural to most men I think.
I doubt most people who watch porn think 'Jenna Jameson' when they hear the words 'gonzo performer'. Furthermore, the idea that 'the audience' all like the same thing in porn is just as absurd as assuming 'the audience' all like the same thing in any other form of entertainment. That is to say, your research is off to a bad start when you don't even know the right questions to ask.

And any reasons they say are just their guesses. Because liking and disliking isn't a logical decision. It's an emotional one.
