| Jabroni Member 15 Posts 12/99 | I was going to place an order last night, and here's what happened: Search results page: in stock I placed the order. Now two of the items show up as "on order". I got so pissed off I cancelled the order. Why do they do this? This is certainly not the first time this has happened, it seems like everytime I try and order something, they wait until I've placed the order to tell me it's out of stock. Is it really that much harder for them to update their availability on their stuff before you check out? Edit: Also, it's not just adult titles they do this to, normal movies are affected with the same problem. Or am I misunderstanding something...like it's in stock and then the availability switches to "on order"...does that mean there was one copy left and now it's going to me? It's still confusing. Anyway, when I cancelled, I lost my coupon of course, even though the order was only open for a minute. I asked them this same question via email, we'll see what their answer is (but hopefully someone here knows because I want to hear it from a consumer). I should have learned my lesson from all the times they've done this before. I should have placed a dummy order (without the coupon) to make sure everything is truly in stock, then cancel the dummy order and make the same order again with kickbacks and coupon.

| Bill All-Star Member 5334 Posts 6/00 | This is the correct way to handle inventory. This prevents the situation that you thought happened to you from happening. I don't know how they handle cancels and returns. There may be a manual process involved which would prevent the inventory from automatically increasing when someone cancels an order. I have had the situation where I bought the last (or one of the last copy(s) of a disk from ADE a couple of times. I have always received my disc even though their inventory showed "out of stock" or "on order" after I placed my order. |

But the next day, I got an email that says my order has shipped complete. But that was just once. ---BIGmike, over and out!--- |
