| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | We had DirecTV with Tivo installed yesterday. I noticed there are a couple USB ports on the back of the unit. Anyone know what these are for?

| Drew Black broken crankshaft 8011 Posts 9/99 | It looks like the tivo box runs a customized version of Linux with standard off the shelf guts in it. I might try to pick one up just to tinker with and try out some of these sofware hacks. |
| Jeff @ IAFD Webmaster IAFD.COM 931 Posts 6/00 | You can get a TiVONet kit from 9thTee which makes networking the Series I much easier... from there, it's fairly trivial to get to the BASH shell and hackaway. There's a humongous community to TiVO hackers out there... I wish I had the time to play that way, but sadly, I merely use it as a tool... tho I do with the streaming media wasn't so much of a hack; it's one of the few things ReplayTV got right... |
