There are still several that release the VHS, and then months later finally get it to DVD. As you say, from the studios that do make simultaneous releases, it is a moot point. DenverDon [Link] |

Almost every DVD I've lent to friends or relatives has come back scratched.. so I stopped lending them. The store that I usually go to will always carry a DVD that is released simultaneously with the tape. However, if they already have the tape, they will usually pass on the DVD. Hopefully the industry can get off their ass and pick a new standard, so the format won't be limited to 4.7 gigs of media, which right now pretty much requires multiple dvds or compression to be practical. But it looks much better to me and the stores I go to only get about fifty per cent of the major new titles on dvd for rentals. While they get almost every new major adult title on vhs. I very seldom give in to renting on vhs and it's just too expensive to buy every dvd you might like-- for one or two scenes-- but isn't gonna be great or worth shelling out twenty bucks. I'm slightly leary of rentals by mail. So I don't see some I'd like to. If stores were all dvd, they'd have more titles to rent, I'd rent more, and the quality would be higher for everyone. [Link] |
