In 2000 most porn DVDs were still in the $20 range, and now here in 2005 I notice that both new DVD productions, and "'80s classics" converted to DVD, are STILL $20 or more! My question then would be where do these DVD sellers get off still charging us $20 or more for 10 and (in the case of "'80s classics") 20 year old flicks?! In the regular R-rated DVD world, old movies go into the $5 bin at the local Boxmart, so why aren't old adult titles at least $10 a pop? (And I don't mean the crummy compilation ones, either.) Seems like a huge gyp to me. When will the DVD porn price ever change? 2010? It doesn't look like it!

Such bargains are rare, assuming you can always hunt them down - but they shouldn't have to be rare in the first place. In other words, in 2005 I shouldn't have to be forced to drop down $20 for a DVD of a John Stagliano movie from 1995. Nobody should. [Link] |

I'm all for bargains, of course, and for getting the best price possible on a DVD, but one thing seems certain, porn's economic models don't necessarily follow those of mainstream--especially in terms of volume. I'm not sure it's useful to compare the two in this way. Places like ADT have really made an impact on keeping porn prices down. You should have seen the way things were not too many years ago... That section will be with as many older titles as newer ones. Why? Because they continue to be top sellers for the video stores at full price. I even saw one shop that had DVDs up around $60US, you've never seen me turn around so fast (except for when I'm doing my John Travolta) Try going into an HMV and see what they're charging for some of their older CDs... more than most porn DVDs, now there's a bunch of criminals. Until the prices drop at my favorite online retail stores. And MLyons it's not about plunking down $20. How about $30 dollars or more? I totally agree though no one is forcing anyone to purchase Evil Angel product. And yes thank goodness for ADT and its wonderful reviewers. Note: I'm waiting for quite a few companies to have a sale just not Evil Angel. I do not want to give the impression Evil Angel is Evil or is the only porn company with higher prices neither is the case. [Link] |
