Many don't want the exposure that porn will give them. They do escorting/tricks on the side for the $$$ only, and live a double life.
Kind of hard to do that when you are in porn.

The affordability and availability of cheap, but high tech video equipment is what has produced the hugely expanding gonzo sector of porn. Thus way too much competition for the revolving door of porn stars. Too many young porn performers who will never become the multimillionaire mogul that jenna jeameson became. So what do they do? the ones that come into the biz do some videos to get some exposure. They might be lucky enough to get more than a fair share of box covers. Once they get the exposure, then they turn to escorting, where they charge per hour, what they made in a day, on the porn set.
