is there any common vibe among women who go into porn about why they do it? way to make good money? way to have good sex? just curious as to what leads one to pursue a career of it.

abuse? drugs? low self esteem? maybe its a combonation?
Well, If I would do porn I would definatly put money as #1 answer. Of course I would enjoy fucking a gorgeous girl on camera but money is the main thing.
Everyone needs it to make the world go round, and sometimes we have to pragmatic about how we earn it. There's legal means, and there's illegal means - porn is legal, in any case.
Mephisto, Please fix your avatar. You need a "]" after the "[img" and you need a " " at the end of the string.
Your e-mail address is not public, so I couldn't contact you directly. I also contacted Steph to fix this. If there is no longer a problem when you read this, that means that Steph has already fixed it for you.
The money isn't that great, the work is hard, and the sex isn't usually what you'd pick if you wanted to get off.
On the other hand, it's a serious ego rush, it's fun like you can't even imagine, there is a wonderful glory in being one of the naughty people, and I, personally, like bucking the gender power stereotype and letting the world know that I'll do whatever the heck I want.

Maybe, some of the girls do it to help the not fortunate ones that are lonely and have no chance in getting a pretty girl to preform for him? Also maybe they do it share their beauty with the world?
That’s a big turn on knowing that one of the top reasons.
I'll agree with Kimilixx, it's an ego thing, how many people do you see on a nudist beach most are shit scared to expose themselves. Don't know about the $$$$, too many girls are making better money doing it on the streets and even then they can pick and choose.
I think the only reason anyone SHOULD do it is because they are a very sexual person and enjoy the adventure. Smarties can make a real career out of being a sex symbol but it does seem mostly like a churning maw gobbling young flesh for the onanistic needs of the faceless millions. Then again, I think porn can be art and that there can also be something subversive and powerful and pro-human about it. But I am also idealistic. But I like Kimi's answer/rationale.

I agree with you Skronker but the cruel reality makes it almost impossible. There are not many of true performers that do it mostly for the sex/performance rather than for the money. Like Mephisto said, money makes the world go round, it applies to porno industry as well, theres no free porn, it takes a lot of money on making it, thats why people perform. Yes, porn can be art, but reality makes very hard for it to happen.
Well, I wouldn't think anyone does it for free but I believe there are some folks for whom sex is creative expession, and who can take it to another level and in so doing find themselves very happy making dirty movies -- like the girls in Mason's movies -- girls like Selena and Ariana, for instance, and Belladonna.
Why does someone join the military, become an account or join the police force.
It seemed like a good idea at the time.
Billy - the reasons you listed are also good for why some people join cults (but we won't go there).
liam - there is no common reason that I have come across. Usually it goes...bored with current job, not making enough, start doing nude pictures then next thing you know you are doing a movie. Each woman has her own reasons some good and some bad.

arent you tired of ignorant people coming up to you with inflamitory comments such as "strippers only do what they do because they are all crack whores" "they have no dignity" while if a famous soccer player, blink182 or jackasses Partyboy strips down and flashes thier junk, no one calls them dirty whores. terrible stereotypes and generalizations are very tiresome, please stop insulting others lifestyles
Yes. But other than a small minority, that's not what this thread has turned into. For the most part, this thread is a valid discussion. If it turns into what you have described, the thread will be locked. Until then, it remains open.
I think this is a good question & have a little knowledge on the subject. Tina Tyler [great lady] wrote about why she got into porn, do a search & you will find her story, I do not fell it right to share it, but it is quite enlightening! Europe has a different sexual culture than the U.S. without the taboos, so I do not have an answer about the Euro ladies, however a lot of American men & women get into porn due to incest, rape and or abuse. Some think they can cross over into main stream, hard to do, ask Tracey Adams, Ginger Lynn Allen, Tracy Lords etc. I love & respect the ladies of porn, and many of them are great actresses ie. my good friend & singing partner now & then, Anna D. Caans.
Nothing says I love you so much as a tongue in the ass. 2884 Posts 1/03

Consider this. A lot of the young women who enter porn are only sexually active for a very short time before making this jump. They're still in the full rush of sexual discovery and the prospect of fucking men with larger than average equipment, know how and extraordinary staying power must be appealing. And to get paid pretty well to boot can seal the deal. The reality of the industry probably scares off many very quickly. At the same time, a lot of the women that stay probably enhance their sexuality and add new experiences, fetishes and attitudes. As a comparison, look at Christine Aguilera and Britney Spears. Their new sexual experiences are definitely coloring their music and public personnas. The same happened with Janet Jackson before them.
Sure, but I don't feel like that's what's going on in much of this thread. If anything, I think porn stars get valorized here. And if someone thinks otherwise, well, that's their opinion and they have every right to express it. Surely YOU can appreciate that, Duke.
Picman makes a really intelligent point here, I think. Consider also, that starlets who are now 18 or 19 were born in the mid-1980s, when porn's transition to video as its primary form was in progress. By the time these girls were old enough to be sexually curious, it's likely some of their parents, or their friend's parents, had porno video stashes in their bedrooms. I can well imagine how a few dirty videos at pajama party sleepovers radically re-routed the sexual imaginations of pubescent girls, plus MTV for gosh sakes, leading some to dream of porn stardom. I suppose this is the middle=class nightmare for some right-thinking folk, and even in suggesting it I'm endorsing the beliefs of rancid politicos like Joe Lieberman. But, I imagine it has an had effect.
I asked girls this Q’s all the time, the answer mostly come down to money and more free time so they could do what they want with their lives! Not that they don’t enjoy the sex it’s a plus for the most part I think. After talking to some of these girls I ask myself this Q’s “Why don’t all girls do porn” (Of legal age of course) I mean you sell your body and time one way or another for any type of job but this one girls seem to have more the control then the men do! I have my guy friends ask me this Q’s too and sometimes I think, is that all they think. That the sum of a girls worth is, just the number holes in her body. I would hope we moved passed this and realized there’s more to a women then how many of use got off on her! Or maybe we feel bad so we have to say she the whore and were the good guys it wasn’t are fault!
OK I am getting way overboard on this! And who am I to talk. I am shooting the hardest sex I have ever shot in my life now for a living! But I still wonder why people ask this Q’s and then tie it into well it’s drugs or abuse! If we got ride of porn will drugs and abuse go away too? Yani Z
I must admit to being curious about why people always assume a woman getting into porn has to do with drugs and abuse. I work with tons of people who come from those types of backgrounds every day in the military but no one asks them if that was why they enlisted.
Yani Z - this one ranks right up there with the "Did you fuck her" question I always get asked as well. As if the fact a woman does porn somehow translates into "easy" when off the set.
Money, sex,... I agree with most that a woman shouldn't get in porn JUST for money. It shows when they are on film for the most part. For most the money is quick and if they are motivated they can make alot of money. I think there are many other reason for women to get in porn. But, it's hard to generalized any group of women so you would have to ask each and every one. I have stopped trying to figure out WHY women do what they do.
the main reason I didn't ask why men go into it is because my understanding is that the money for male performers is not very good. But female performers can make a lot of money sometimes. So I assumed men go into it cause they want the sex or its a way to pay the bills (but not live large) and enjoy what your doing just to get by.
I think picman's response is one the most insightful I've ever read on this subject. No one answer fits all, and a melange of reasons is probably the clearest explanation available.
Does anyone know how much male performers do earn in porn? In a Jules Jordan movie (think it was Ass Worship 3) you can see the number on the cheque which Gauge receives. I think she has to pay tax... for it, though. So I can think about how much girls can earn - if they do the complete stuff and are "stars" like Gauge. But what about men? 100 - 200 $ per scene?
Really? That's not bad. Six films a month, and you have nice money. Btw, Gauge got 2,000 (or was it 2,500? I'm getting older... and damn, I can't find this movie anymore. I haven't found it on Ass Worship III, Weapons of ass destruction I + II. So, it could be on Flesh Hunter III, which I don't have. Anyone knows the movie exactly?) bucks in this film, and of course this should be called a mid or even high budget production, and average girls should earn much less money than Gauge, I think.
To have sex with Andrew Youngman--or at least that's why I would. (and possibly Csoky Ice, Voodoo, Jonathan Simms, Alberto Rey, Manuel Fererra and Evan Stone too.)
The main lure of doing porn is quick money, which either the girl or her boyfriend need or want. I suspect it's usually for drugs, which partially explains why so many cute girls skank out so fast. Drugs, parties, and hard sex age a woman very quickly.
Now if drugs were free in the US would girls stop doing porn. Probably not. Instead the money would be spent of clothes, jewelry, and other luxury items.
The bottom line. Most American girls do porn because their boyfriend pimped them into it, or because they prefer fucking for a paycheck over flipping burgers at McDonalds.
No, you're pretty much on the money. I've come across a lot of creepy suitcase pimps during my porn tenure and sure, a lot of girls don't have much in the way of options regardless BUT.... there are actually quite a few girls in the biz presently who are here because they (gasp) actually enjoy sex.
Believe it or not, in my career I haven't seen a lot of drug use on the set so I can't offer my two cents on that part of your post but hell, you might be right about that too :)
Many others simply enjoy the attention and moderate level of celebrity.
Personally, I enjoy being able to show up at work with a hangover and a 6 pack to kill it and no one says "You're fired!"
What? I am flying to L.A. tomorrow. Can you put me up for a few nights??? Just until I shot a few films and then get my own place. Oh, and can I borrow your video camera and a few bucks to shoot a porn?? P.S. Can you wire me some money for a plane ticket too. I will pay you back. Boy Scouts honor.

When Randy West interviewed Krystal Steal she said she wanted to be a porn star because she liked sleeping in. You can sleep in and make quick money. If you don't care about what others think of you then being a pornstar is a great job.
I do admire female porn star. It's not easy everyday to forget social considerations, to push your limits and give your best. With the final one, they give great movies with wonderdul scenes making thousands of men dreaming.
It is a career just like any other. I've always thought it kind of strange that some men think that all women who do porn must have something wrong with them or be skanked-out, sexually abused super sluts. I am sure there are women like that in the industry, however just like any field of work it is made up of all different types of people. Men are allowed to like sex, whereas women have been conditioned to tone ourselves down and not to elude to our sexual selves, unless you play the virgin/whore dichotomy(i.e. Britney Spears). More men should realise that sex is also important to women, and thankfully there are some amazing porn stars around who are not afraid to exhibit their intimate selves for our arousal, enjoyment and education. If you are good at and enjoy sex, are comfortable with your body and are an intelligent person who can keep yourself in check in the porn industry then it can be a very lucrative and enjoyable profession. If we spent less time talking about how "drug fucked up those skanky whores in pornos" are and more time supporting the industry and regulating the health and safety of the stars then men and women could engage more comfortably in their sexuality without menace.
I don't think it is a job like any other. The girls are usually only few years active. The problem is, what will follow after that. It can be hard to find an other job.
My point is, if a porn star becomes well known her life won't be the same as before. After her active period she won't be able to get many kinds of jobs as for social standards. Some girls can stay in the business like Tricia Devereaux but most of them not. A girl has to consider this if she wants to get in the porn business.
