if you're looking for a more complicated answer, then i will give you one...

this is my take on the whole asian anal shortage:

an asian girl will get work, practically everyday, just for the simple fact that she's asian. the extra X00 dollars that she'd make for doing anal just isn't worth her trouble. and the X000 dollars that she'd charge for anal, few producers are willing to pay. because of that, it's easy enough for her to go do another vag scene that day and make twice as much $$$. furthermore, she's well aware that asian pussy is rare and charges more for it anyways.

there's nothing psycological or cultural about it. it's math.

the same applies to the really really really hot babes in the business, new girls, young girls, and any other rare treasure

I don't think there's a demand problem on the side of the porn viewer as I see discontent everywhere with this situation.

Right now, Asian fans are probably buying a mostly vaginal Asian series because that's all that's on the market. But once Skeeter or some other studio wises up and starts giving the raincoater market what they want, this may not be the case. I predict sales will fall like a rock on the softer titles since one's porn budget is limited.

Historically I think most Asian starlets DID perform anal.

1. Skeeter - I believe if there's anyone in the industry who will find a "solution" to the dubious "asian anal shortage" it is him. Skeeter's "can do" attitude is what we need to shake things up here. Way to go dude!

I guess it is mainly a pay problem:
I said it before and I can repeat it again: IMHO anal is payed to little compared to pussy-only. If pussy-only earns a girl 100%, anal should earn her at least 2-300%, not only about 150% as it is now. Additionally, if pussy-only would be payed worse, more girls would decide to try anal (try it at least - I didnt say anal is for every girl!)

Dion might be well willing to solve the problem with money, but if the payment structure is favoring pussy-only that does not help much.

Than it is a consumer problem:
Asian fans seem just prepared to buy much softer stuff than they would ask of a non-ethnic series. Thus producers are not forced to pay more attention on recruiting nasty Asians.
(Once <new asian face> is not be sufficient enough, producers are compelled to advertize with <new asian anal> instead)

I have no problem with the idea that girls should earn more when they perform an anal scene. I agree that 150% of the normal rate seems too low. 300% seems a bit high. I think the happy medium is 200% or about $2000.

Ironically, the studios have created this problem themselves to some degree where now they are having to throw money $$$ at the girls. The new crop of Asian starlets apparently have received so much work in vaginal only scenes, they no longer have the expectation that anything else is required to be cast. Tighter casting policies and stronger efforts at the onset of finding girls more willing to do nasty stuff would have headed off this problem at the pass.

You know, Max Hardcore used to find lots of nasty newbie asians who had no problem with anal sex. He cast them frequently in the Cherry Poppers series in the mid 90s. They fit in well with his young girl themes. I betcha anything when Max finds new talent, he tells them he needs anal starlets. :-)

In the mid 90's there were far less Asian girls in the industry than now. There were no Asian series. Yet, just about every one of them did anal (Annabel Chong, China Lee, Kimi Gee, Brooke Ashley, Lulu Chan, Mimi Miyagi, Suzi Suzuki, Anisa).
