Wes Craven from 70s exploitation maven to enormous mainstream success, his indefatigable ANOES and Scream franchises. Shot some porno in between his low budget 70s horror flicks. And appears, with his face clearly on camera, in two: The Fireworks Woman and Baby Cakes.

William Lustig. Worked in production on several XXX films before branching out as a debut director on The Violation of Claudia, aged 22. Set him up, with more money and experience, to make his grimy opus Maniac. He cast two adult actresses in the latter Sharon Mitchell & Abigail Clayton.

Abel Ferrera, shot an adult film because if you made a Sex Film in the 70s you could make money (or not lose money) on it and become a director. He's not so proud of this one apparently but it has never gone away, available since its release on VHS, DVD and now HD & online. The movie is the singular "9 Lives of a Wet Pussy" which has echoes of his first major success Ms.45 (81).
