A couple of days ago, I posted on the Star Struck forum that I was amazed at Bree Olson's porn skills and confidence at this very early stage in her career. Bree always knows where the camera is, and is so confident that she takes direction and makes the performance look easy and natural. Bree is also very aroused by the camera, a kind of exhibitionism that isn't that common.
I also noted that most great porn stars aren't so good at the very beginning of their careers, and that even greats like Belladonna and Avy Scott took some time before they became great.
Why isn't there a school for porn? Why isn't there a place to go where men and women can learn performance skills, and more importantly find out of they're enough of exhibitionists to be turned on by the business? Technical stuff can be learned at any west coast film school. Yet there's no "Actor's Studio" for porn talent.
The business has gotten too big to fear government interference. A porn performer's school (I can't call it acting.)is something that is needed.
I don't like the idea of a porn school. They should do movies the way they are not the way they are teached because it would look unnatural.
Most directors however should go to some school where they are teached how to work the camera the right like from which angle you should porn and the most important thing: don't stay too close to the action with the camera, step back and shoot the whole angle.
the studios? no, unless it was for a star that they had exclusive rights for, otherwise other people would reap benefits of training that they paid for .
keys to good perfomance on camera is based on
...natural charm/sexiness, comfort level on set, comfort level with partner for the scene, talent level of the director.
some chicks just have "IT", and for those who don't, there are ways around it

I like the way it is now...leave it up to their step-father's and uncle's to do the training.

That's not true. Training is the basis for creativity. How many horror stories are there about people who come to Porn Valley without much experience in sex yet alone performance. If the person has any talent at all, he/she will do just fine.
Funding will be a problem; the schools will be expensive. Regular acting schools are expensive. William Davis' acting school is $7000 a year for tuition. The business could help by providing scholarships.
Who says that the school has to be only for video performance? I'd think most of the training would be about how to deal with the business, a business not known for it's compassion for it's employees.
I still need to know how Bree Olson became so expert?
You should've done the 5-year plan. That 5th year was magic for me.

It would be the only school in the world where the teachers paid to work there. What am I bid for two semesters a year initiating 18 year old hotties into the delights of anal?
That would be against the interest of many directors. This isn't just true for porn, but entertainment industry in general. It is on the job training - you pay for the training because you pay to buy/rent the first scenes as the women figure it out. Since there is no shortage of women for porn, the need isn't so great. Now it may be in the interests of the women to learn about disease, the buisness, contract law, and economic self discipline, these pieces can be obtained elsewhere. Don't know where you go to learn presence and camera awareness.
It had occurred to me as a good idea too. Erotic and exotic dancing, voice lessons (many say nothing more than "mmm...yeah" so an increased vocabulary of sex, sexy inflections, dirty talk, accents, etc.), training at a gym would be basics. Acting lessons would be good for those who want to be in plotted porn. Actors don't come out of acting school all acting the same way, so this shouldn't be a fear for porn stars. Studying classic sex manuals, pornography in art, human sexuality, tantra, some psychology could be advanced classes, maybe even offer a real accredited degree!
Classes for the crew would also be desirable as mentioned. The unique lighting and blocking problems for porn and so on.
